Actually - his weight has been down lately and he has genuinely
looked good. -Close to 230 lbs - a good weight for Tua.
But months go by and no news.........

Maybe in thsos months, he crack, and he needed a burger, so he went into hidding to chow down.

He fought in Sept.
Last I heard he was healing up from some nasty hand lacerations that he suffered when accidentally leaving his hand in the way while mauling a sub sandwich.

Tua had a chance to be something big in the business. That time I believe has come and gone. But with the heavyweight division the way it is right now, I guess anything is possible.

People always say this about Tua having "ahd the chance to do something" ect... but I don't know why. He just wasn't that great to begin with. I mean yes, he had a chin, and power... but his boxing skills left a lot to be desired, and he simply could NEVER solve a good jab. I think that Tua's talent's took him as far as he could go.

Tua could KO any Champion out there right now and that includes Klitchko...Not sure anymore though..it seems that Tua wins a few fights..at this point your waiting to hear about a title shot that never happens and Tua disappears and repeats the process..I get the impression he just doesnt want it bad enough..a bit sad really :-(

I agree totally, though I think if we had a prime Tua fighting now he'd be a belt holder, I'd expect Wlad to do a Lennox on him still though.
Tua's had what 5 fights in the last 2 years and has looked woeful, he's seemingly lost the desire, or taking a very long route back to the top.

The last time I saw him fight he looked real good. He was boxing
well utilizing a good jab and his punches were as powerful as ever.
He also looked great physically. He had lost a lot of weight and
seemed more muscular than I remembered him being even in his
youth. Now, he just fades away again. WTF. Maybe he has mental
problems or just doesn't want to go through the pain and sacrifice
necessary to face off against the big dogs like Wlad, Chagaev and
Peter.

You mean like zombies? Those zombies are scary as hell and very
hard to kill.

I would like to see this fight, if Mesi stays away from the left hand he easily outworks this faded version of the disappearing tuaman and likely TKos him, if he gets caught Tua has his biggest win in a long time and a title shot. Tua doesnt want to fight anyone good though he jsut wants to stay busy and make some $$..... though im a fan im starting to think the same of Mesi, he just likes being in the picture and being a notable personality. CEsboxing is going to announce his next opponent any day now, lets see if its another Shannon Miller shitbag type guy :deal

Tua, Mesi, Virchis, the time is running out on them. Either they step up now and make a run at a belt, or they can just walk away for good.
Tua had a good chance against Arreola and turned it down.
Mesi had a good chance against Minto and turned it down.
Virchis is highly ranked everywhere, had a chance to fight Dimitrenko and turned it down, now he can get mandatory status against Gomez, but it seems he is trying to avoid it.

It looked like Tua finally got the message, fighting in August and September, but since then...nadda. And so any momentum drains off again.
If Tua doesn't beat a top ten guy in 2008 and get in line for a title shot, then he needs to just retire and stop wasting everyone's time. 7 fights in 3 years, especially against the low level of opposition he's been facing, will get absolutely nothing done. Worse, it may be knocking off ring rust (though Tua's inactivity puts it back on), but does not help at all with preparing him for the top heavyweights out there.
That Tua only had 1 title shot while John 'Mr. 19 Seconds' Ruiz has had 10 so far, well...no matter what you can say about Ruiz's flaws, when it comes to focus and applying himself fully he is streets ahead of Tua. Ain't that a kick in the head?

:good
Then if successful, in 2009, he'll move up to the C+ level opponents.
Onward and upward. We are closing in on the B level, and fast.
2010/2011, at the lastest, will see Tua rising to the challenge to face the likes of Davarryl Willaimson and Lance Whitaker.
Kidding aside, I think if Tua doubts he's ready to step up, he shouldn't do it, yet. Because a loss, now, would really set him back, to say the least. But it sounds as if his fighting pace is almost an after thought. If he's progessly slowly, it sounds as if its cause he never gets in the ring. LOL

Everyone says that. But McCline, Briggs, Brewster, Liakhovich, Klit, etc. have all lost and bounced back. Why not Tua? I think it's about how he loses, and who he loses to that's at issue. If he had lost a UD in a slugfest with Brewster, he'd still be in the hunt. Sure, it would set him back, but it would show he could bang with the A and B level guys.
Looks like he's looking for that one fight, be it a Arreola or Brewster that could put him in contention for a belt. Pure and simple, he's not ready, at least in his mind. But at some point he's going to have to take a chance on losing to have a shot.

Tua must not feel he's ready to step it up yet. He's being carefully managed and every move is being perfectly calculated. However, he shouldn't wait too long, because he's not getting any younger.

Brook, I wish I could believe that every move was being carefully calculated.
I really feel like there is some pretty mediocre thinking going on in his camp -
and I wonder greatly about his promotors. Something is not right.
But he remains a threat and a "name". Don't leave it too long, David.

I'm not a fan of Ruiz at all, but he gets those title shots, credit for that. Tua should be managed by Ruiz, that'll get him at least 3 shots.

That's what signing with Don King will do for you. Notice how Ruiz HASN'T had any more undeserved title shots since King dumped him?????
