Just browsing through some topics and there is so much hate between fans of certain boxers? Why? People should respect all Boxers, and the sport, people may have favourites, but looking through i dont see alot of opinions and constructive debates, just plain hating. Why is this?

Good post...all boxers deserve respect - they are the one's in the ring. Fans in all sport disrespect certain athletes. Baseball, basketball, football, and hockey fans dislike certain teams and certain athletes of those sports, and boxing is no exception.

yeah its funny like that - alot of the time it seems like people might hate a certain boxer because they are more of a fan of the opposition. I real terms, i am a big Kessler fan, and yes i often talk smack about Calzaghe. I only do this because i like Kessler more and want to show my support by downplaying Calzaghe. Truth is, i respect them both equally as fighters

true, but then there are posters defend their fighter but just don't make sense. then the hating begins

People express radical ideas and proposterous suggestions in attempts to bait others into uncharacteristic irrational responses just to see if they can do it....it's like an accomplishment for them....they extract some kind of diseased enjoyment from it. Basically they spend too much time on computers. Just my observation.

because it would be boring if everybody was nice and respectful all the time.boxing has a mixture of different characters makes sense that the fans are an assortment of different characters too.

What makes me dislike any fighter is any form of excessive "ridiculousness".

This goes for bad hype jobs like Khan and Margarito, I can't stand those two.

The hate for Mayweather is really pathetic. Im no Mayweather fan but the names that he is called by some people is troubling. Irrational hatred.

It's funny that you mention that. I was checking out another boxing forum one time, and everyone was all polite and courteous like you were saying....and it sucked....I was laughing. Things do get pretty extreme here sometimes, but it's better than some wierded-out scene where everyone is scared to hurt each other's feelings.

Yes, but there is some pathetic threads, that are just obsurd, like the previous guy said it's just to get a reaction, i agree a good heated debate is great but some of the stuff i have read on here is so stupid, we are all boxing fans, we need to show some more respect.

Are you new to the internet?

This has been going on since the beginning. Posters always do this unless controlled by "mods". Fortunately this forum has mods like Reggie Hammond.

You don't know me, you don't have the ability to hurt my feelings. Beside's lines like " your a fucking idiot" " you piece of shit" " go fuckyourself" are all beyond the realm of boxing debates. My favorite was a poster a couple of day's ago that went out of his way to insult the the whole Island of Puerto Rico and it's people with a racist remark that I was surprised was able to stay on the board. This was a member with over a thousand post. The reason the boxing forum you got on was so polite was because the mod's don't play dumb shit.

I wasn't suggesting that calling people names and insulting people's heritage is one of the strong points that sets ESB apart from other boxing forums. I was suggesting that ESB's tolerance and willingness to allow free debate is what sets it apart....that's the difference between moderation and censorship.

Now ESPN is censoring the coversations in corners between rounds in an effort to protect viewers from hearing spicy language.

I can see it now....

Corner - "Come on dear fellow, you've let the previous stanza slip from your grasp....you must perservere".

Fighter - "But I'm giving it a jolly go, and the other chap has this nasty habit of striking me in the private parts....perhaps the referee needs spectacles".

Good topic - but with no indifferences there wouldn't be much debate - bringing in exaggerated hatred heatens up the discussions. Or at least thats how I perceive it.

However I dont regard myself as spewing hatred on the forums though - but sometimes people are jumping so much on a bandwagon that there needs to be counters.

This kind of stuff is the problem. If you hate a boxer for a particular reason fine but its when people act ignorant and delusional towards the ability of another fighter such as Mayweather haters. Hate him if you want, its your perogative but give the guy props where its due.

Intense hating and nuthugging seems to be a boxing tradition. Having internet, where there total anonimity just takes it to a new level.

It because plenty of people on this forum are idiots, but the kind of idiots who think they are actually the fountain of all knowledge because
they spend most of their waking hours sitting on the internet spouting their " 100% correct no other opinion is valid " views lol

of course when you speak in public like a 16 year old your going to get some heat your way.

PBF brings it on himself. end of story.

me personally i dont hate his skill in the ring but i hate his very loud mouth that disrespects the people in and around boxing.

thats why put hate on him.

Uh Uh. Some (i would say a minority) on here are just filled with hate/jealously. It does not matter if its boxing being disscussed or just small talk they will find SOMETHING to attack you over. These people are actually kinda pathetic:-( These are people (for the most part) that are real timid in person but when behind a computer screen they love to attack (over anything) and be-little:tired others. I treat people on-line the same as i would in person...............WITH RESPECT. :hi:

I actually like a competitive positive debate. Competitive positive arguments are a lot harder to deal with than insults, and they're way more exciting, since the poster has to put his money where his mouth is.
