Irish light-welterweight champion Oisin Fagan has set his sights on a bout with Ricky Hatton in Dublin.
Hatton is planning on a return to 140lbs after being stopped by welterweight king Floyd Mayweather in Las Vegas earlier this month and it has already been confirmed that the Mancunian’s people are interested in staging his next fight in Ireland.
Hatton looks set to seek out a high-profile opponent for his next outing, regardless of the venue, but Fagan believes that if he defeats the highly-rated Verquan Kimbrough for the vacant USBA lightweight title in West Virginia on Sunday, he would warrant a shot at ‘The Hitman’.
"Promoter Brian Peters is talking of bringing Hatton to Dublin, so who better to give him a run for his money than myself," Fagan asked in the Irish Independent.
document.write('');"I would love to take on Ricky in Dublin, or anywhere else for that matter. I think it would be a great fight and I hope it can become a reality.
“My own promoter, Stacy Goodson, has been gunning for a Hatton fight for the past year without success.
"It's true that I normally box at lightweight but it would not be a problem to put on an extra five pounds for Hatton. So after Kimbrough, maybe it will happen," he added.

Stacy Goodson is a plonker for starters, plus it'd give Jeff a "twice removed" link to Mayweather ;-)

Unfortuntaly for Fagan I fear Kimbrough will have too much for him , and if he loses that I doubt Hatton would bother with Fagan as his return opponent .
Good to hear he's making his comeback on these shores though :D

Well, if the only pro links you have are via Buckley, then you share them with no less than 15,000 British pro boxers betweem 1940 and 2007.

If you got the sarcasm then why the serious reply to his post ? , anyway it's imaterial really .
It was a referee stoppage win for Fagan , great fight too .
Fagan was in very good shape and just kept coming forward applying pressure , Jeff(not disrespect mate) wasn't in great conditioning in comparrison .
I know Jeff suffers from Asthma and I think was working the doors at the time , aswelling as having a problem with dust if I recall right(and before anyone laughs dust can be a major issue for Asmathics , I know Clinton Woods lists sorting a problem with dust as one of the main reasons for his improvements the last few years) . Issues like that would contribute to a lack of conditioning .
Fagan never really hurt(stunned) Jeff but just wore him down through willpower , conditioning and a great workrate .
As for intelligence , this is a boxing forum and intelligence would relate to how well someone knows the sport . Jeff being a pro would know quite a bit , me ? , I don't really know as I can't look at it objectively .
But as for you , well I'm not even familiar with who you are............your pretty insignificant , even if you are the genius you appear to be ;)

I might not be the brainiest guy on here but my God you are thick as fuck... you just come on here argue like fuck with everyone about Calzaghe and Hatton then insult people. What do you actually bring to the forum? Your not funny, you can't spell, you insult anyone who you think might be having a pop at Hatton or Calzaghe even though their not, you take yourself way too seriously and you know comparitively nothing about the sport in fact i'd go as far to say your the least knowledgeable regular poster on here. I reallly try to be a friendly as possible on here but you are consistantly pissing me off.

Jeff, step away from the keyboard and stop justifying yourself to that moron!
I didnt know you had asthma - but then again Big Ears knows everything!
How come you've been out of the ring since the Fagan fight (and how did you qualify for the title), finally what are you going back into training for as therer are no upcoming fights listed on boxrec

SB67 Hi mate thanks for the interest. My mother is from Rathfarnham right near Dublin so I qualified for a title fight on that basis. I love Ireland its a beautiful country and I'd very much like to recontest that title in the future should all go well with my comeback. After the Fagan fight I decided I'd reached as far as I could in my current situation and wanted to experiance a few different things without boxing getting in the way.
So after a while, when I'd done what I wanted to I thought about it and realised I was really missing the sport. I started training then luckily was given the oppertunity to fight on the upcoming VIP bill. Furthermore I was offered the chance to train with Bobby Rimmer down at Stalybridge where I am now and its amazing.
The Asthma issue is one that comes and goes and I was working as a doorman at the time so obviously back then it was very smokey and I did suffer a little bit especially with it been such a hot day and not having the best training in the world before the fight.
I'm pretty confident ability wise i'm capable of lots of good things. I'm not going to make any bold or outrageous claims on here but the next 4 years should be very interesting please God as long as all goes well.
