Willie ****tt looks the goods. But he's still a long way off. And will need a lot of media exposure to climb up and have a fan base.

Katsidis is still limited at this point, but he needs to get a good trainer in his corner and be willing to change.

Haumono is a difficult one to judge atm moment. Age is his biggest enemy and if he doesnt step it up we'll never get to see whether he can handle tough opposition and in essence see his full potential.

i like him to but he is a little inconsistent - i think if he really focused all his energies into boxing he would be awesome. At the moment he is a bit of a rough cut diamond. With that all said and done however - his ring entrences are second to none

Pittman IMO is the best chance Aus has at the moment of becoming a world champion. I don't think he wil ever dominate a division, and he doesn't have the most exciting style, but he will be very tough to beat, mainly because of his southpaw stance and hand speed.

I don't sorry but he is very good. Almost as quick as Choc, very quick on his feet also in and out. Has improved recently apparently also from what I have heard. He has improved a lot since the start of his career even from the few matches that I have seen. Totally agree with your comments about Sonni. Spot on.

lenny zap is definetly the brightest star.
I really thing Meadly is overated, just to one dimensional, wont be able to bash his way to a world title.
Pitman is a good boxer and may win a title.

On paper I totally agree with that post.
But something is missing, I cant put my finger on it but I dont have faith in pittman.

As an amateur I thought he was definitely one of our best and not just flash in the pan, he was consistently performing.
But I havent been overly impressed by him as a pro.

He has certainly excelled into the next tier of 168-175 fighters.
He smashed Sherro, and I reckon he beats everyone else locally bar of course Choc and I see him having a hard time against Bika & maybe Nader.

Dont get me wrong, in another post I gave a relatively glowing opinon of Junior Talepau. Jamie Pittman shits on Jnr T in every way.
But a guy with his amatuer prowess and talent should be looking better IMO, thats just what I reckon.

Im looking forward to his next fight though, Nonoy is always a hard ask, Jamie should beat him easily but its how easily Im interested to know. Thus far only Katsida and Taylor have stopped Nonoy and he has always been a good yard stick to measure our local guys against. Jamie has got to be careful not let it get to messy, the dirtiness and unpredicatbility are parts of the pro game.
Middleweight should be interesting if Pitty holds power at 160 and isnt weakend he should be a monster.

Agree with most of that.

Medley aint going anywhere, his limitations have been shown. Fun to watch though and a good guy to have on a card cause he pulls a crowd in syd.

Im really liking Lenny Zap. He has superstar written all over him, great strenghts and style suited for the pros.

I think he will be a huge Middleweight. How long since your have seen Pittman? I saw him in his first few fights and wasn't impressed. He seemed to really over extend on his footwork when throwing punches and didn't have a very good offensive arsenal. But since then he has tightened up and looks to have pretty good power to go with the handspeed. He is one dimensional, but it will be a hard one dimension to beat.

If he feels comfortable & retains alot of his power at 160 he will be massive, & should stop most in his division in Australia.

I will say I formed this opinion mostly on some of the early fights I have seen.
Ive seen him train once and watched his sparring of Sakio on youtube, and I was real impressed.

But I saw his last fight and before that his fight 5 fights ago, and I didnt see a lot of improvement since then. Granted I havent seen his best work against Sherro and the Thai who was in the olympics.

there was a good article on him in the local paper.. one of his trainers was saying they wanted to win aus titles in four weight divisions.. i think he's definitely capable..

what do you reckon he's up to on the international scene kegs? Another half a dozen fights or so in Australia against Aussie & Asian opponents, then he should be ready to fight a top 20-30 fringe contender type.

The best fighters at this stage for him to learn against are guys that have good chins & are durable.
Not like the last guy he fought Leigh Lindgren.
Still tho plenty of time & no need to rush.

Anyone seen OZ around here. Mention Mundine and watch him come sniffing...
anyway, I'll move on from this little demonstration as I risk the logical comeback that I myself am obsessed with Oz.
Anthony Mundine is the best new talent.
