Watched "A Melbourne Story" last night and like most boxing docos i found it extremely entertaining, I could watch boxing doco after boxing doco for a whole week straight.

The Doco was about the fight between Barry Michaels vs Lester Ellis. I had always heard bits and pieces about these two together but this doco made it all clear as day.

Awesome insight, anyone else seen this vid?

Yea i watched it when it came on... Its a shame the shape Lester is in these days, its good those 2 remained mates after everything.... The bit about how that young kid died in front of Lester tore me up abit

Yeah the young kid says Lester the angels are calling me, im real sleepy now and then dies. Its a great story.

I laughed at the end when Barry was telling us how he visited Lester in the change room after the Mundine fight.

Lester says "Barry he is a big strong boy"
Barry said "yes i told you he was"
Lester "He is dam quick too"
Barry "Yes i told you that before the fight aswell"

:lol::lol::lol:

I saw most of this a couple of weeks ago, and it was a great watch.

Their fight was a real tough one and I like the way the doco was made.

The best doco i have seen would be the Sonny Liston story but i dont remeber the name.

Watched it with my old man and i remember how bad he was treated, real sad stuff.

Thanks for the heads up guys, i will be getting A Melbourne Story on DVD when it's out.

It was one of the best videos I have seen teke; what stoked me watching it was Barry's incremental climb to eventually beat Ellis....it was sheer will power mixed with Barry's tactics. I thought whilst watching it, that any other bloke would have crumbled under the immense pressure and attacks that Ellis paid out to Barry. But Barry just kept climbing the hill, non plussed.

It's fair to say Barry was one tough bastard mentally and physically with the determination of a stubborn mule. Its a shame he never got a shot at Mancini, that would have been one hell of a fight.
