Is this fight is really comming this week i see that is on boxrec but i don't know if everyone notice that solis is fighting this week, he is very active and this Colliander guy looks like a very solid journeyman 12 -1 with his only loss comming to Taras Bidenko the same guy that defeat Mazin the guy that Sois crushed a few weeks ago. Still very impresed by solis he have been pushed more quickly than Povetkin.

Solis is being moved at a nice quick pace and so far he has been more than up to it . I think he'll stop Colliander too but not in the first .

This match going to be very interesting. I dont know what to say, i will expact win by Solis in points .
Pure madness to match Solis that toughly!
First Sidon,then Mazikin,now Colliander!
Damn! Povetkin and Solis were outstanding amateurs, and they seem to rush the way up to the throne.
Hollyfield,Bowe,Thsyon, and so on were matched very softly within their first 10 pro fights against true no-hopers.
Solis and Povetkin play in a differnt league.
The African bigmouth Colliander is a decent boxer who should be able to survive the very first round against Solis.
Props to the Cuban for taking on such an capable opponent in his third fight!
I have become one of the Cuban's fans.
By the way anyone noticed that Solis ' foes can be found among Taras Bidenko's skalps ,too?
Who will be Solis' next opponent? Bidenko' s last victim Richel Hersisia?

did you really just call a 12-1 fighter a journeyman?
that really just doesn't jive, whatever the context. you can say he's 'nothing special', or 'in my estimation will likely end up as a journeyman or can', but the fact that he has barely traveled outside Scandinavia and fought mostly losing records does not make a 12-1 fighter a journeyman. you need to lose more than 1 in 13 to earn that distinction.

Colliander is a very cardboard fighter, he looks good, he talks a good fight, he comes with some rave reviews, but has anyone ever seen a hard fight involving him yet?
Aldo is a paper warrior who wans to be the swedish 50 cent..
His opponent however is the truth..
And the truth hurts.........

Solis won by UD in 4, what Colliander did, was running all the fight and we know how difficult is to KO an opponent who just enter the ring thinking about not being KO, and with the running ability of Colliander....well, Solis clearly won the fight.
Just like Povetkin couldn't KO Donald, (3-2) Tessier.... but Ahunhaya gave a good fight to Povetkin and he was not KO'D.
Still a good victory for Solis.
And in other news Yuriorkis Gamboa won by KO (and he looked good)

From the Euro forum
the fight really sucked. colliander destroyed it by fighting lame, solis by being overweighted, the ref by lacking authority. solis showed especially 2 positive things: very nice reflexes and an exciting aggressivity. a couple of times he let discipline miss which made him get cought unnecessarily, may it be because of colliander's destructiveness, a bad day or whatever.
there's a lot of potential, but it wasn't the right place and time for him to demonstrate.
Also, Solis fought with a hurt knee.

People in the Euro forum that seen the fight did not seem impressed at least for this fight.
Solis needs to get his weight down, he is a fatass and couldnt catch Collandier it sounds.

I don't think in this particular instance it is a hate but a comment about his weight. Solis fought as a HW in Amatuers and is only 6'1. The 250Lbs weight is little to high for him.

It isn't hate that is what you seem to be missing as you are absolutely in love with Solis. The man fought at 215-220 pounds when he was a super heavy and is now tipping the scales between 252 and 259. A lot of us want him to do well but it is hard to take him seriously till he takes his training seriously. I have no doubt if he had come in shape he could have stopped Colliander, but since he didn't he simply could not cut off the ring.

At 6'1 255 lbs, Solis is the second coming of Kirk Johnson. He is undersized and overweight, the weight is not helping speed, work rate and stanima. There is major hope for Solis but he needs to get in shape.

True. Im sure part of the initial attraction to tyson by the casual fan was the fact that he was built like the incredible hulk. Peoples perception of how a boxer should look like.

Solis Fonte can be a champion, but he will need to tidy up his conditioning if he wants to compete professionally at the highest level..
Or he may become remembered in the same way Greg Page and Tony Tubbs were.. Nice fellers but wasted years.

Solis defeats Colliander!

2004 Olympic gold medalist Odlanier Solis (3-0, 2 KOs) won a clear four-round decision over Aldo Colliander (12-2) on Friday night in front of a good crowd at the Arena Gym in Hamburg, Germany. Solis who had blown out his two previous opponents in :47 and :43 second was almost apologetic after the fight vowing to return to the "other Solis" next time. It was revealed afterward that because of an injured ankle, Solis had done no sparring in preparation for the fight. Manager and promoter Ahmet Öner stated, "No other promoter in the world would have let Solis fight under these circumstances. But he wanted the fight and I knew that he would win anyways. Nobody can stop this man!"

Man you really have it for Solis. He might have had an injured ankle, I am sure if he did it was brought on by his excessive weight. Also if the injury was bad enough to scrap sparring believe me he wouldn't be in a fight.

No I just don't buy he had an injury bad enough that prevented him from sparring but allowed him to fight. You can ask a lot of people out there and they would concure. As far as my critcism about his weight it is valid. He was 215 in the amateurs and is now 255, he needs to come down or else his career will be plagued by injuries and his once great mobility will disappear. Sorry I don't buy Ohner's lines and sorry I want him to maximize his potential.

I watched the fight life and even before the bout started they said Solis is somewhat injured on his knee. Im shure he will be lighter next time when he can train properly, he will come under 250 next time im shure. He had trainer issues as well, Masson was fired and he has a new trainer since 2 weeks now, maybe he not really trained at all for this bout. Everybody can have a bad night, next time Solis will be better. one thing is for shure, even yesterday when he didnt looked that good you could still see that this guy has it!! And hes so cool in the ring, i have never seen a boxer whos so cool in there. Other are way more nervous. You can clearly see that this guy is something special. But he has to lose some pounds!

People here are far too harsh on Solis IMO.He has defeated three decent opponents in a row.Fighters,a promosing talent usually faces in his 12th or 13th pro fights.Malik Scott hasnt yet faced an foe who can hold a candle to either Mazikin or Colliander.
Solis is the complete package IMO.Of course his stamina is still a huge question mark due to his overweight. However, his limited American coach has been fired and been replaced by an old and very authoritarian German coach who is very fond of discipline.
Solis is for real.My only worry is that he gets fond of western freedoms and american junk food.
He for sure shouldnt take a page out of Gomez's book who prefers partying to sweating in the gym.Gomez is a great fighter, but has wasted his huge talent due to his sloppy attitude towards his choosen profesion.
I very much hope that Solis wont follow the same path!

Well, since leaving Cuban he has balloned up quite a lot.I guess that there are not a lot of McDonalds on Cuba.Too much junk food in the western countries.Solis obviously takes pleasure in his new free life style.Understandable! After all he is a human being. However,he needs a good promoter,a capable matchmaker, and a tough and demanding coach.
Well,he has a rather inexperienced promoter, his matchmaker doesnt seem to have that much knowledge about the paid ranks eithter, and according to the news his former American trainer strongly lacked discipline.
I was glad to learn that his American coach has been replaced by an experienced old German coach who is quite fond of discipline.
I guess that within the next few weeks Solis will lose some considerable weight.
I very much hope that Solis will fight some average journeymen before he takes on another fighter who plays in Colliander or Mazikin's league.
There is really no need to rush Solis into big fights.

None of us debate that. We know he was a great amateur, our only problem is his lack of discipline and poor conditioning as a pro. What I do not understand is why you think that our criticism of this very obvious flaw is somehow more than us wanting him to do well by training hard and eating right.

Hes a bit taller than 6'0. Hes 6'1 and a half.
And i think he needs an good american trainer, not an german coach who teaches the classic european style with no headmovement, doublegard and only or mostly straight punches. I hope Kirsch dont change the style of the cubans. The cubans already know how to fight, the only thing the trainer has to do is to get them in good physical shape and good condition.
