Fuck me Well done Setanta, What the fuck fights are Sky going to show. I don't reckon i am ever going to have to download a fight again, were getting more fights than the Yanks!

I really thought Sky would be showing Pavlik and Pacman fights.

You reckon Setanta will get a British commentary team to every fight, at least the big ones like Pavlik, Pacquiou and the two Heavyweight fights.

Could you see some of the pundits moving over from Sky?

Sky dropped their coverage that much last year they couldn't even do their usual end of year review shows- bell ends.

Sky are cutting down on international, keeping domestic, and looking to increase their MMA volume.

Seconds out.com have the rights for that. They've picked up all the good ones, I'll give them that. I hope they read there boards, either that or everyone should e-mail them complimenting their coverage, just as we all would if it was crap

robpalmer135
01-04-2008, 08:34 AM
I reckon they will make an offer to Secondsout as the guy from there in the past has said they can purchase it from them if they want to.

I will be emailing them. I was going to contact them and say i was gonna cancel to get my fee down to £5 but i would feel guilty now, to watch those fights in the states over 3 mothns would cost £125, were getting it for £30!

The Lads

Where has he said he'd sell klitchko rights? I posted a link / quote on here with him claiming he wouldnt sell them.

robpalmer135
01-04-2008, 09:48 AM
i 99% remember seeing him say something along the lines of "if anyone wants to show the fight in the uk they will have to buy the rights from us, not hbo"

something like that, post the link again.

Any Evans @ Seconds out (think its the site owner)....

SecondsOut doesn't make the fights, it just allows fans the chance to see them. You can thank the IBF for Klitschko v Austin, but SecondsOut will be showing further Wlad fights plus we did show the Klitschko v Brock fight last year, which I, for one, was looking forward to.

If Wlad v Valuev or Sam Peter II is made this year it won't be on Sky, it won't be on ITV - it will be on SecondsOut.

THe Only trouble with setanta will it be live coverage or delayed, like the sugar shane mosely v miguel cotto fight. That is my only query!

The Lads
01-04-2008, 10:32 AM
How delayed was it? A lot of people have said that.

robpalmer135
01-04-2008, 10:45 AM
I am not really fussed if its delayed by 15 minutes. You will find that most "live programmes" coming from the states such as Boxing, American Football, Wrestling have at least a 3 minute delay. And there are many other causes of delay, my sky in my bedroom is 1 minute behind that of my living room.

Its not an issue to me anyway. Its better than them not showing it at all isn't it, just don't listen to the bloody radio at the same time or come on here and it won't get spoiled.

Very impressive line up from Setanta. It looks like Sky will only have Witter fights and domestic fights now.

They will have Haye when he is not on Sports Network shows, Witter and Froch who should become World Champion next year.

Also Hatton so they still have the biggest names domesticly apart from Calzaghe.

You can add whoever Cotto, DLH, Margorito fight next to that list as well. Plus Hopkins vs Calzaghe and all other future Sports Network shows excluding Khan and Fight Academy (clinton woods). We should have a decent fight on every week on Setanta including double bills. If we get Vasquez vs Marquez III i will be jumping for joy!

Would of been nice to see the Paul Williams fight to, am i getting greedy???

not really arsed about the 15 to 30 minute delay. just means you have to stay offline while watching the fight.

great line-up...if sky didn't show a lot of football, i'd be cancelling them! in fact, i might cancel SS2 and just keep SS1 for the premiership and domestic fights

Spinks, Chag Vs Skelton, Maskaev Vs Peter, Haye V Mac and Marquez I look forward to watching.

I am most pleased I will be getting to watch Heavyweights again.

Yeh when was the last time we saw a Heavyweight title fight on tv................i think it might be Williams vs Klitshcko you know!

Sky are cutting down on international, keeping domestic, and looking to increase their MMA volume.

Not good news at all. I, like a lot of you, pay 37 quid a month to Sky just for the boxing. Instead of trying to compete with Setanta's sterling effort, it would seem they're just withdrawing further from the sport. Very unsatisfactory from a subscription TV company with 4 dedicated sports channels (1, 2, 3, Extra), especially in light of the fact boxing has recently been enjoying its highest profile in a long time.

Amazing stuff. Certainly a major player when it comes to screening boxing. ITV nor Sky have any sort of monopoly.

i'm still getting charged 15 quid a month from setanta.

cos i took it out with that ricky hatton offer.

i'm gonna get onto em and threaten to cancel if they don't bump me down to a tenner a month. :yep

Yeah good luck with that - you'll need it. Setanta's administration are fucking useless. Let me repeat that - they are fucking useless. I'm having a lot of trouble with them at the moment with them paying me outstanding money etc but I'm reluctant to cancel looking at that line up. Those cunts have me over a barrel it seems. :D

There effort to show boxing puts Sky to shame. Sky have dissapointed me after making a promising contribution in parts of '07. Luckily enough for me I didn't just get Sky for the boxing. I happen to at times be a lazy shit and enjoy nothing more than sitting on my ass watching film after film after film. However, if I only used Sky for boxing I wouldn't be too amused with their line up. :deal

I always said that what was annoying was that we were not given the opportunity to veiw fights from America. Now we are (at a cost) so I suppose we shouldn't complain too much.

stuey
01-05-2008, 06:57 AM
you really got to hand it to setanta. great line up, big american fights we normally would not get to see. excellent effort.
just hope enough people are signed up so they dont go bust.

Setanta are doing great for boxing but how long before they start getting greedy and ask for PPV?

+ Their freeview service finishes early so if you got that you can't watch fights from the states @ 3:00am or thereabouts.

This is what annoys me with Setanta - am I missing something? By finishing freeview at 3am they are alienating these viewers.

I got Setanta for one reason only - boxing. But it seems that I'm going to miss all the stateside fights - ridiculous!

I'd go fucking loopy if they did. To pay for Sky, then pay extra for Setanta and then pay a PPV charge on top - I'd have to rob a bank to pay for all that!

if you have paid for freeview, i think you qaulify for broadband too.
you can watch it on that

The only thing I miss with Setanta is that they dont replay big fights from the States at 9am like Sky sports.

The earliest ive seen them replayed is at 12.30pm on sunday and if you dont want to know the result thats a long time to wait.

robpalmer135
01-07-2008, 10:53 AM
i reckon for the bigger fights replays will happen more. Im suprised they wernt alot this weekend as Setanta had know football on.

The Lads
01-07-2008, 11:34 AM
Its best to record them as they dont replay the undercards, just the main event in a one hour slot, usually.

Did anyone in Scotland not get the fight the other night? Mine had the SPL update on at that time.
