Paul Appleby and Gamboa are both coming into there own recently
both undefeated and showing high prospect for things to come
Paul Appleby likes to get his opponents out of there very soon in the fights n he gets a bit smarter he can do really well for the future
but who would win this 1?

Appleby is a fantastic prospect(and I mean at World level) but he is nowhere near the very experienced(and that's what his amateur career has made him) superstar that is Gamboa .
Gamboa stops him within 3 rounds I reckon , the guy is special and has already beaten a fringe contender(in Adailton De Jesus) comprehensively .
I'd fancy Appleby to get the better of British champ Simpson but at this stage there is many who disagree .
Lets wait till we get a winner of two fantastic prospects(Appleby v Martin Lindsay) before we start talking about anything above a European level .

is he really that good? I've been impressed so far but he's mixing at a very low level..... gamboa would embarass anyone who isn't a world champion he's amazing.

Yea he is certain coming into his own, he is a great prospect he is still only 20 he can really make a name for himself ofcourse thisfight wont be made now but in a few years if Appleby can stay undefeated n beat somebody repsected then this would be a mouth watering event

Appleby looks like a good prospect, how far do u think he will go??? do u think he can be a world champ:huh
gamboa is an amazing prospect who could be ready for world title fights by the time the number of fights he's had reaches double-figures.
appleby is a very good prospect by british standards but there is no indication yet that he'll compete beyond domestic level...i hope he does but he hasn't got the vast amateur experience of gamboa to be rushed in the pro game. right now it just isn't realistic to compare him to gamboa.

Appleby is a very good prospect, but Gamboa is past the prospect stage and ready for world class fighters. Gamboa knocks Appleby EARLY.

in evreyfight he learns more about him self he expands n always seems to impress n eager to learn he has got the skills to be a champ he just needs to feel more fluent in the ring but yea i belive he can be a world champion
but in a few years this fight may be a mouth watering prospect if evreything goes well in there carreers

He's turned over late as a (super) feather hasnt he, 26. So theres no time to waste with him.
He was also put down by De Jesus, does anyone know what the knockdown was like? legit?

I watched the fight and while I can't remember the knockdown(I think it may have been a push) I went away thinking Gamboa doesn't have any real weakness as his chin looks solid.........so I'm almost certain there was something iffy with it .

Appleby would never ever ever have a chance in this fight either now or in five years. I'll be surprised if Paul goes past British level, paradoxically Gamboa will some day be #1.

Appleby is a very talented young prospect who should surpass british level without too much trouble imo.
I can see why people would tip Gamboa to win as he is also a great prospect but Appleby would be no pushover by any means and in a few years, who knows?

I think Appleby has some talent, but needs to be moved along at a more steady pace, rather than blasting people out and then the big jump up!
He should have had a better quality of opponent by now as a test, but don't rush him up too quick.
I think he certainly has what it takes to be a European level, too early to say about World, but can't complain so far.

appleby has looked good in his pro fights so far but against very limited fighters. jason hastie beat him in a commonwealth games box off in 2006, hastie has just turned pro and is 2-0 looking like a very good prospect also

no i dont agree with you there hastie won the fight fair, and although they have fought a number of times they where always close, i believe hastie wll do very well as a pro, and we will prop be seeing these two fight as pro's in the next few years.
Its too early too call. I think Gamboa is the most exciting young fighter I have watched in a while and while I havent seen Appleby, I have been told that he is the goods. Hope they both do well!

Martin Lindsay won by ko in the first round last night to set up what is a very intruiging encounter between Appleby and Lindsay for the Celtic Featherweight title(and a British title Eliminator) .
I just hope this fight goes ahead as it would be a real cr@cker .
