Jones is not as shot as his nuthuggers wants to show. He still has his reflexes, handspeed, etc.

His only problem is, for some reason (starting when he fought Tarver 1st time), he decided to back straight up when he is pressured, instead of circling around the ring as he used to. I think Jones is thinking that he can fight like Ali and that his chin will hold up.

I've never followed RJJ. The lighter divisions have always been my favorite but that left hook and uppercut were perhaps the fastest effective punches I've seen thrown. Geez, that was freakin crazy.

Hey man, you ought to expand your horizons then. That video is an example of Roy Jones reliving a bit of muscle memory. This is like a great man getting out of a wheelchair in a nursing home for 5 minutes and, for a moment reviving his old self. Roy Jones did shit in is prime that will never be done in boxing again. Search YouTube. A lot of it is there.

I'll take your advise and check it out. One reason I do not go about 154 in fights is cuz the fighters get slower, just not as much fireworks, one reason why I like Ali, cuz he fought like a welterweight. But yes, sometimes, Calzaghe is a bit too pondering for me, also B-hop, though I watch their fights. I'll check out his early fights, do you recommend any that will make me a fan of the heavier divisions for life? I mean, what is your fav RJJ fight?

This is a good highlight. Though I don't care for the music. Something like Beethoven or Mahler would fit better here.

Roy's legs looked bad in his last fight. His hands are still sharp though. When he puts things together, Roy Jones Jr. is still a force to be reckoned with at light-heavyweight.

Jones will have to fight a bit smarter against Tito..I just see Jones keeping his hands down like that will hurt him as it has in the past..And a prime Jones would've finished Hanshaw with a flurry as soon as he got up...Jones will have to be more active and smart to beat Tito..then again Titos had quite a rest

The handspeed is still there...the footspeed is not.

Goes to the ropes as much as he always has, just doesn't FIGHT off of the ropes as he did in his prime. Trindad is the wrong guy to pin yourself on the ropes against.

That being said, I still think he has enough in the tank to beat Trinidad. That may be completely subjective on my part, though. Jones won't use the footwork necessary to beat Trinidad (see Hopkins, DLH) nor does he use his jab enough to beat Trinidad (see DLH, Hopkins, and Wright). If he plans to pot shot his way to victory with this faded version of himself, I'm not 100% sure it will pan out in a victory for him. A legend like Trinidad definitely has a shot here.

Despite my doubts, I'm aboard the RJJ express.
