Everyone is giving Taylor flack for fighting some guys from the 154 lb division at middleweight.....

Why is everyone overlooking Mr. Oscar De La Hoya who just finished forcing FLoyd to move up to 154 to fight him and now wants Ricky Hatton to fight him who is a 140 lb fighter !!!!

Why would anyone want to pay to see hatton get ko'd within 4 rds against dlh ? Hatton couldn't handle Collazo boxing skills at 147 ...154 against dlh he is in over his head !

I can't believe DLH is looking to fight Hatton.

He just wants to go out by beating a top guy, no matter the size.

Dispicable if you ask me.

Ricky proved he can't hack it at welter.

If they do fight, I will be rooting for Hatton, even though all along I've been a DLH fan.

I never understood why Taylor got criticised so much for his choice of opposition. He fought Taylor twice, then fought Wright. He followed that up against a tough Ouma. After that fight he supposed to fight Mora(ranked as a top 10 WW), but then Mora pulled out. Dibella tried to replace Mora with Castilliejo, Sturm and Abraham(they turned it down for one reason or another). With not much time to find a replacement, Dibella was able to get the JMW champ to get in the ring with Taylor. Now Taylor is fighting Pavlik. That's 3 top 10 MWs in 5 fights(would've been 4 out of 5 had Mora not backed out). That's pretty good.

De La Hoya himself has moved up in weight to fight the best available competition there was, and I highly doubt he " forced " Floyd to move up in weight, after all he didn't have to accept the fight.

Taylor on the other hand? It's highly doubtful he's ever fought at welterweight. And it's not so much that he's criticized for his choice of opposition, but more so that he's beaten them very unconvincingly.

Maybe its because if he fights the best at 154, yes Cory Spinks, it will be ugly as all hell and the money wont be as great....also Cory would win at this point.

Hatton-DLH is a meaningless fight cuz,

It'll be a repeat of DLH-Gatti

Hatton needs to fight either Malignaggi or Mayweather, he's running from them if he doesn't

what does this have to do with the thread ? No one said Taylor fought at welterweight and Oscar moved up in weight b/c his body type had the frame to allow him to be succesful at the higher weights...Hatton that is a different story he's too short and has already failed at 147 against Collazo !

De La Hoya has been criticized over the years for fighting smaller guys and guys with way less experience at a weight class than where he was.

But since he's fought such an elite level of opposition, he usually gets a pass.

His opposition level has still been top-notch.

Well, Floyd looked pretty successful at 154, did he not?

DLH at this point is taking the biggest money fights he can, Taylor on the other hand is taking the easiest. And either way, like Erratic Behavior said.. DLH has been criticized for it.

hatton will use his height and reach advantages to stop DLH getting in close , and box a saftey first fight from range , to stop DLH closing him down and holding hatton`s arms to stop him from working .

then hatton after he beats DLH will fight taylor and box a saftey first fight on the back foot , backing off all the time from the aggressive taylor.

then hatton will call out paul williams the now ruler of the weltwerweights and hatton will be critisized for picking on a smaller man .

THis fight would be interesting to me only if Hatton beats PBF or looks good against another legit welter(Cotto, Margarito, williams, Shane).

But let's cut it with the bias. Most of us knew that DLH and TIto were the smaller fighters moving up to fight Hopkins and most did not criticize the Executioner simply because these were intriguing matchups.

DLH has one of the toughest resumes in the last 20 years and is in a financial and popularity stratus allows him to fight the most popular and financially rewarding fight. Agree with it or not, he has earned it.

And why doesn't it make sense that the loser of DLH/PBF would be an obvious choice for Hatton in order to measure his possibilities against PBF:huh

i agree with you.

dlh started at a lower weight class too.

i think at 135

Yet when he is the smaller man(Hopkins Trinidad Vargas)they dont give him credit for being the smaller man.

You can throw alot of fighters into this mix.Aside from the vastly overrated Tarver Hopkins biggest CAREER defining wins came against 2 smaller men in Tito and Oscar.

I think that the better question is that at this point of his career why does anyone give a shit who oscar is fighting period.

Taylor is garbage. an eye sore to watch as he scrambles for an opponent that will comply with his overrated power and succumb to the KO... he is a joke in many respects

How is Taylor garbage and a joke? He's undefeated. He beat Hopkins twice, followed that up with a draw against Wright, then beat a very good fighter in Ouma, and then after pretty much every MW turned him down, he fought a crafty lefthander who is one of the best pure boxers in the game. Now he's fighting Pavlik. Look at everyone else's resume in that division, they don't come close to Taylor's.

Last time I looked he won. It might not have been convincingly, but neither was a handful of Taylors.

Besides Hatton moved up - Taylor beat guys that moved up, and with some controversy also.
