Just stumbled across this guy on Boxrec... Guys got a record of 133-81 with 53 knockouts for 235 total fights. Amazing amount of fights for a 60's and 70's fighter.

Only stopped three times, twice on cuts. Must of been a hard, hard guy. One of those stoppages was against Wille Monroe towards the end of his career.

Anyone know anything about him?

What a pleasant surprise to see Garcia's name up, Russell. I haven't thought of him in eons. I used to see him fight at the Miami Beach Auditorium in the '50s, when it looked like he was gonna be Cuba's next Gavilan.

Hair slicked back, fought in the pocket, unruffled. Didn't waste energy. Short crisp counters, blazing combinations, and a bolo punch, the crowd loved.

I thought he was so savvy, so classy, he was gonna be a champion. I'd never have guessed he'd wind up a travelin' punching bag.

Duran gained a lot of respect for Garcia after their fight and had some nice things to say about him. I don`t recall his exact words as I would have to look it up and I am too lazy to do so at the moment, but he did praise him for being very clever and hard to hit with a good, solid punch.
