The styles are only marginally similar.

One thing is for sure. If Mayweather-Cotto ends in such a disputed fashion like Leonard-Hagler, there better be a rematch.

I am a Cotto fan, and I can barely stomach Mayweather. For a long time I thought Cotto was a somewhat limited, but relentless and determined puncher. However, in the Mosely fight I saw Cotto do things I had no idea he could do. I think Miguel is capable of handing PBF the longest and most difficult night of his life. On the other hand, as much as I would love to see Floyd bloodied up, beat up, and knocked out, he always seems to have a plan to win, and thus far he has always managed to execute his plans in the ring.

I see your point but pleeeease don't compare these guys to Sugar Ray and Halgler. Neither of them would last four rounds with these great fighters.

I don't think so, Floyd's style isn't being THAT agressive, but certainly I'll love to see this fight more than any other fight i.e. Mayweather vs DLH 2

I agree. I hope this that this fight turns out nothing like the "Leonard-Hagler super fight".

Well, given the fact that Cotto and Mayweather are welterweights (and Floyd ain't a big one), a middleweight like Hagler should take care of them in fairly short order.

Floyd would be competitive with Leonard. Leonard MIGHT finish Cotto early because he's such a good finisher.

Only because of the weight class thing, not the styles thing.

Floyd senior went 10 rounds with leonard yet his son, one of the top 5 defensive boxers off all time and 10 times better than his dad is only lasting 4:nono

You have to consider that Mayweather started at 130. Leonard fought Hagler 13 pounds above his best weight. Leonard was also inactive and both were past their prime.

I like to consider it this generation's Leonard/Duran, even though, stylistically, it's much different.
