I'm not talking about their fight, Tszyu was past his best but
assume you want to compare Tszyu when he was the truly best
at that wieght with Hatton now.
Who would be better champion?

Tszyu wouldnt have turned down a bout with Mayweather when challenged.
So I'll go with Tszyu by default.
Lol Damaged goods? Who damaged him excactly? :huh
give Hatton his due, he beat the shit out of one of the best 140lb fighters ever and was the underdog when he did it...shopworn my arse.

I think that Castillo is more wash up than the Kostya that fougt Hatton, he look very old and almost lost to Herman Ngojuo, a guy that for a lot of people lost to Bailey.
I think the answer is kind of obvious. Tszyu was one of the best 140 pounders ever, you'd have to favor him over Hatton if they matched up in their primes.

he was 36yrs old and had a career ending injury.. also he had only fought 2rds of competitive fighting in 3yrs
Thats be cause he kept knocking his opponents out!

I would lean towards Tszyu at his peak, around the 99-02 time frame.
Tszyu was still a formidable fighter than Ricky beat him and it was a very good win for Hatton, but Tszyu was quicker and sharper a few years earlier.
Hatton would have his moments but Tszyu ends up winning.

Koysta was rated number 2 p-4-p when he was beaten by Hatton. So the Ring magazine obviously didn't think he was past it and I don't recall anyone else saying he was. Leonard hadn't fought for three years when he beat Hagler.

I still don't get why he sat on his stool. The fight was close. Tszyu landed the cleaner and crisper shots. He should've have asked for a rematch in a neutral location.

He'd shown no sign of been past it before he lost to Hatton. A demolition of of Sharmba Mitchell if memory serves. I think KT is a more talented fighter but Hatton had a horrible style for him. Just like Phillips had as well.
I think Hatton style just doesnt suit Tszyu. Tszyu can box and bang we all know that, but Hatton come forward mauling style is never going to do a classy tactician any good, also I dont think tszyu can knock Hatton out. KT landed some vicous straight rights on Hatton and he just stared at him and kept on coming.

Tszyu for me, think he showed in patches what he was capable of. If hed been fighting regularly i think he'd have too much for hatton.

Being near the top or at the top of the p4p rankings doesn't mean you're still in your prime. It can just mean you haven't been knocked off the list.
Marvin Hagler was #1 or #2 on the p4p rankings in 1986-87, but he wasn't at his best. Bernard Hopkins was #1 on the Ring's p4p list when he lost to Jermaine Taylor, but Hopkins was better a few years earlier. Pernell Whitaker was still ranked in the top 3 or 4 p4p when he fought Oscar in 1997 and I think still ranked in the top 10 when he lost to Tito Trinidad.
Leonard hadn't fought for three years when he beat Hagler.
And?
Neither Hagler nor Leonard were at their best either.
And neither was Tszyu. He was still a very formidable task for Hatton and a capable fighter, but he wasn't in his prime.

Tszyu lost his drive considerably during that fight and was questioning it prior to it. He took Hatton as a money fight that he thought he should win. Who knew a fucking machine in Hatton was gonna turn up?
Tszyu wanted bigger fights than Hatton, but Hatton didn't let him have it and all credit to him.
Still hope Tszyu makes it back :P though I know he shouldn't and I shouldn't want him to... but just a fan clutching on.

if you look at it.
Hatton had everything in his favour on that night and it was the only way Hatton was going to beat Tszyu.
I mean Hatton style match's well against Tszyu but if you really look at it closely Tszyu would whip Hatton prime for prime.
Hatton's Prime was in the Tszyu fight. Tszyu's Prime was from 98-03 and Hatton had a Ref from the UK that didnt let Tszyu get distance to be able to box. i noticed that if that fight took place in the USA with a ref like Nady he would have split them apart more and it would have been able to give Tszyu the distance he needs to be able to be affective.
also Tszyu was close to 36 years of age fighting in Manchester at 2am in the morning against a 28 year old Hatton.
When you look at it Tszyu would have destroyed Hatton prime for prime i think to even say that Hatton is in the same league as Tszyu skill wise is stupid.
I mean you have Tszyu who had only fought 3 rounds in 2 and half years so if the fight went the distance you would see that Hatton would start to take over. Tszyu had also stuffed his Right shoulder the same Right that was the biggest most powerful right in the game.
Its like when people say the same about Tszyu beating Chavez i will say it was just his time to be beaten. so Tszyu win over Chavez is good but its what it is like when Lewis put away Tyson or Dela Hoya put away Chavez.
It was just there time. but prime for prime is a different ketle of fish.
Hatton needed things to go right for him to win and thats what happened.

No version of Tszyu would ever have beaten him in Manchester with that crooked ref. Constant wrestling, leaning with his head, arm bars, nut shots, legit knockdowns ruled low, Tszyu had no hope. Maybe Chuck Liddell would have fared better.

Are you saying floyd is a bigger puncher than zoo? i dont think so. Zoo was finished as a fighter and hattons home town reffering was the worst i have wittnessed. I would say even at that time if they fought at a different location zoo would ud him or stop him. Hatton is very overrated and when he fought out of england he was brutaly stopped and seemed to be losing in the other fights.

Hatton did well that night,i dont see how people can ask more of him.Tszyu may have been a little past his best but not much.Hatton had a good career and only lost to the best. You could argue Hatton was past it when Manny beat him.

He had 2 surgeries one shoulder and the achillies tendon before he fought Mitchell, and his shoulder fucked up again during training for hatton, then with Hatton allowed to use standing arm bars all night didn't exactly help Kostyas punching ability.

This ^^^. Had there not been a home-cookin' ref, it might well have been a different fight.

Hopkins has recently been rated in the top 5 of ring's P4P list. Does anyone actually believe that? Tszyu was clearly past it in that fight.

Very true they also stil have Nonito flash in the pan ranked from something he did a few years back al because the guy he beat went on and unified and knocked out other champs one after the other but Vic himself doesn't even get rated.

It was miserable Fight at UK.
The thing is Hatton vs Tzsyu at his peak in neutral area Hatton would have get mutilated.
But i give Hatton credit for Wrestlemaning Tzsyu down with everything illegal he could come up with.
