There's a gulf in class here. But I did wonder about this match - on the one hand I thought "here's a chance for him to fight in Europe" but you do wonder if he isn't done and looking for the weakest chalenger going.

Either way though, there is still that gulf in class. I think Chagaev will stop Skelton personally. Chagaev would have to be in pretty serious nick before a limited mauler like Skelton would get him.

Both were terrible.

Didn't see the Virchis fight though.

Chageav is getting hype because he's Russian, nothing else... he's nothing special at all.

i thought the virchis fight was his most entertaining. they each landed hard single shots but hardly any combinations landed. they did seem to like each other way too much. virchis seemed happy after he lost :nut

i have seen his last 3 fights. chagaev is a good fighter but one-handed.

positives: very smart, high guard, good footwork, above average handspeed, good power, great left throwing it from different angles over the top or looping it, at least a decent chin although hasn't gotten hit with combinations (virchis had him buzzed a couple of times on single shots)

negatives: he has to land his left first to be effective. non-existent power right hand. has a lazy jab. must be set to land effectively and doesn't like being backed up. doesn't throw a lot of combinations. slows down late. his top cometition have been identical: slow and not highly skilled fighters.

he deserves to be #2 or 3 right now based on holding a belt and competition depth.

yes his left is good because he puts different angles on it. i think ruslan can beat every hw out there except wlad. sultan-chagaev would have been a good fight and should have happened. i would see this as 50-50. I like sultan's two fisted skill and foot speed a little better though.

how do u see a wlad-chagaev fight going? i think wlad would just keep moving to his left out of range of chagaev's left and jab his face off. then start catching him w/lead rights. chagaev doesn't like to chase and wants his opponent to come to him.

I was wrong about one thing, Skelton lost.

I was right that Chaegav sucks, it's just that Skelton sucks worse.

I put Ruslan right there with Sultan, how anyone can be a fan of this piss-poor excuses for heavyweight contender/champs is beyond me.

They embarass the division with these shitty excuses for fights.
