With Bhop & JoeCal on his resume, How does it look ?

With a perfect record and a fight with hopkins on the horizion and maybe even a mega fight against roy jones jr.My question his how will wins over those two legends look on calzaghe resmue at this time and there time in there careers ?

I think calzaghe beat hopkins and jones i HATE to say, i think he would out point bhop in a close fight.And roy seems to only fight 50% of the round as were as calzaghe could fight the whole round.If roy cant hurt him kinda early
jones would fade and i could see calzaghe winning the last few rounds with little trouble.

So now that roy has beat tito and hes filling good about himself an feels he still p4p, i think he would fight the winner of Calzaghe and Hopkins, which i think would be Calzaghe.So how would those names look on his resume this point in time in there careers ?:huh

Any unbiased individual would say that RJJ in his prime would whoop on JC at 168 or 175. As for Hopkins, I think all unbiased individuals would say Hopkins would beat JC in his prime at 168.

Therefore, since I KNOW that JC is in third place out of those 3 (RJJ, BHOP, JC), why would I give JC credit for beating a shell of RJJ or an ancient BHOP?

Face facts. Berbick didn't beat Ali, he beat a shell of Ali. Williams and McBride didn't beat Tyson, they beat a shell of Tyson.

These wins would only matter to someone reviewing JC's boxrec record.

To me, it's irrelevant. THE BEST FIGHTER IN THIS ERA AND MAYBE ANY ERA at 160-175 is RJJ. The second best of this era in those weightclasses is Hopkins. JC comes AFTER them, regardless of what happens from here on out...

It bewilders me how people can get excited about Jones after his performance on Saturday night, you people must not have seen Roy during the 1990s and early millennium. Jones Jr, in his prime was quite simply un-hittable, his defensive (and offensive) performances were scintillating and begged belief. Against Tito we saw, at best, flashes of the fighter there once was. The hand speed is still there, however, the BIG difference is that he is now there to be hit. Where he would once dart, pivot, shuffle and lean out of striking distance he now instead covers up and tries to absorb the blows physically. Attempting that against a non-stop threshing machine like Calzaghe would spell doom because he will just flurry and flurry and flurry.

I see Jones getting brutalized ala Glencoffe Johnson style.

In my opinion, ability-wise prime for prime, Calzaghe is second to Roy Jones but above Hopkins.

I would also like for someone to tell me when Hopkins prime was. The mans style has changed, but results and ability-wise he's been consistent.

Calzaghe is hard as hell to beat on honest cards, and he has a great chin. I don't see Hopkins outscoring or stopping Joe Calzaghe at any point in his career.

That was a mildly retarded post, but I'll humour you...

1) Its not going to matter whether Calzaghe is a power puncher or not, it'll be sheer punch accumulation that will undo Jones. The ref will step in and stop the fight as Calzaghe Ts off on a tired old Jones lying around on the ropes.

2) I'm not expecting Jones to fight the same at 39 as he did at 29, you came to that conclusion yourself.

3) Kessler would bludgeon Jones to death.
