Both. You can't fatten your pockets unless you give the fans what they want.
Loads of dumb fucks will buy that fight I'm afraid
They actually think panty boy is a serious boxer, so they will pay out for him time and time again

Their bank account, and I don't see anything wrong about it, although it goes against my wishes as a fight fan.

They care more about money
From a fighter's perspective, it's smart
From our perspective (as fans), it sucks

Mayweather would earn as least as much money in a Cotto fight.
ODLH - Mayweather II: 1,4 million PPVs, at most; and Oscar will get the lion's share again.
Money - Cotto would crack the 1 million PPV mark (perhaps even 1,2 million buys) and Floyd would get at least 60% of the cake.
Oscar doesn't need Floyd either. He could sell a million PPVs against Margarito, for example - and collect 95% of the revenues.

How the hell do you figure Mayweather/Cotto can crack 1 million buys when Mayweather/Hatton did 850k?

Because people will see if cotto can do what hatton vailiantly tried and failed to beat him.

How the hell do you figure Oscar could do 1 million plus against Margo? He did 900k against Mayorga and Mayorga is way more known. DLH's fight with Hopkins barely cracked 1 million.

Hatton is more known than Cotto. Also I doubt a Mayweather/Cotto 24/7 would be anywhere near as good. Cotto is not as well known as Hatton, and he can't promote a fight as well as Hatton. There has never been a fight that cracked 1 million buys that didn't include DLH or a HW.

I don't think Hopkins-De La Hoya did a million.
Mayweather-De La Hoya 2 (and De La Hoya-Cotto for that matter) is a bigger money fight than Mayweather-Cotto.
There's a reason why Floyd and Cotto would prefer to fight Oscar rather than each other. More like a few million reasons.

Does Hatton have a fan base in the US? I don't think so.
Does Cotto have a fan base in the US? I do think so.
And as far as I know the Puerto Ricans are eager PPV buyers.
Correct me if I'm wrong, that's just my assessment from the other side of the pond.

Unfortunately, your logic is flawed. I highly doubt Mayweather/Cotto could crack 1 million buys. Once again, no fight has cracked 1 million that didn't include DLH or a HW. Cotto is not known enough, and doesn't have enough of an outgoing personality to be able to generate those kind of numbers. Not even with Mayweather as his opponent.

Hatton made it sell because there as never been twenty thousand brits going over to see a fighter fight in America. Also the genuinely the bad blood between them before the fight was a factor.

Mayweather IMO all about the money for sure dlh I would like to think he still cares he still fights a good level of fighter. I know this makes more money but he must care to keep fighting lets face it with gbp and his fight purses he must have more money than he can spend. I think odh has a love for the sport mayweather only time will tell

Oh, okay. It must've been one of those cases (Mayorga, Mayweather) where the initial count was lower.
I remember it being a tad under a mil when they first announced the PPV figures.

Their pockets, but this whole idea of boxer's fighting for the fans or looking out for the fans best interest first is retarded.
In fact the whole idea of athletes doing what they do for the fans is stupid.
Jordan didn't win his championships for his fans, Brady didn't win the superbowls for their fans, Ali didn't win the gold medal for the U.S.A. fans, they won it for themselves.
The real question should be what's their drive:
Internal motivation of being the best ever or money? In this case it's obviously money.

DLH is boring, and Margo barely speaks English. How the fuck is 24/7 going to help that fight crack 1 million buys? No one knows who the fuck Margo is. I don't give a fuck if Margo was fighting Jesus, the fight still wouldn't crack 1 million.

I think both fighters are trying to loose every single one of their fans. They probably have a millionaire's "Trading Places" bet on who could loose all of their fans the quickest.

they are BOTH, at this stage in their respective careers, 100% about MAKING money. The fact that Mayweather does so overtly while De La Hoya sugarcoats it with claims of "saving the sport" does not make one's motive any different from the the other's.
