So Roy Jones, a former heavyweight champion, is calling out Oscar De La Hoya, a former super featherweight champion.

Come on...I know lots of bigger guys call out De La Hoya, but Roy?

That would be a pointless fight. De La Hoya would never do it.

It would be a mega event, and the hype would be insane, but I agree it is pointless and Oscar is too smart to do that.

LOL....I thought DLH was crazy for thinking about Pacquiao, and I think the same here.

Problem is, it would be a HUGE fight.

I'm sure Roy's one flurry a round combined with De La Hoya's one wild flurry to the body a round will make for a great fight....

....urgh.

Is Roy going to make a career of going after Nard's leftovers now? He first tried it with Glen Johnson. Unfortunately, it backfired and he was put to sleep. He continued it with Tito(too bad he couldn't close the deal like Nard did). Now he wants DLH. He'll probably go after Calzaghe if Nard beats him. Meanwhile, Nard went up two divisions to show Roy the proper way to handle Tarver.

Yes, he has made a career out of it. Should I now point out that Hopkins made a career out of fighting smaller fighters while Jones made a career out of fighting bigger ones?

Come on.....keep it simple and don't make it about a fighter not even involved.

If Oscar wants a challenge, there it is. Seriously though, Roy is too big for DLH.

You could, but that would be a dumb argument. Hopkins fought most of his career at MW against other MW's. The only guy he fought that didn't belong at MW was DLH. Trinidad had fought for a few years at 154 and knocked out MW title holder Joppy before fighting Hopkins. So he belonged at MW.

That would be a pointless fight. De La Hoya would never do it.You could spit 2 former middleweight champions though using that logic but I know what your saying.

Jones is a natural middleweight and Oscar is a natural lightweight.

Everybody wants to get paid. hell! I will fight him for the payday. I will get KTFO, but I will try... hehe everybody no matter how ludicris, even Hattons stubby little ass included wants to ride the Golden boy gravy train. Winning doesnt matter anymore, its al about lets getting paid. I understand it but something about it is just so wrong.

And Jones has only fought 2 guys in the past 3 1/2 years and overall the past what, 15 years, that Hopkins fought? So you're argument, based on your aforementioned "majority" factor would be just as dumb.

If Oscar only wants money, here is all the money he could get.

Maybe that will destroy the idea of Mayweather-De la Hoya II.

A couple years back, Oscar said he'd do it at 160. Regardless of which weight, Roy mops the floor with oscar.

You know, it's funny how we can twist words though. Here's how it's being presented. RJJ, former HW titlist calls out DLH, a former SFW titlist. We take the biggest weight of Jones (not his natural weight) and the smallest possible weight of DLH (not his natural weight) which equates to 70lbs difference. Reality is we have a guy who just fought at 170 against a guy who has fought at 160 2 times. It's a bogus match, but it's just funny how we spin it when we want to.

We can do this with ALOT of fights.

This could backfire, smaller faded left-hook artists are uncharted territory for Roy...

oh, uh...

Would do pretty massive numbers, huh?

Anyone who bought Jones-Trinidad and claims they wouldn't buy Jones-DLH is 'straight up clowning' as the people in the scary neighborhoods say.

I admit to being an idiot in this regard lol. I watched Tito vs Jones, enjoyed it quite a bit on both ends. Hell, I think Tito could still stop most 154lb fighters.

why not? that's a mega money event and we both know oscar and roy want money, lots of it. and besides, oscar could just do another "i got punched so hard on the liver that i'm pounding the canvass in pain but i can't get up" act.

01-22-2008, 01:26 AM
I'd give Oscar a much better chance of winning this one than his fight against Hopkins, people don't realise how far gone Roy is.
