You could, but that would be a dumb argument. Hopkins fought most of his career at MW against other MW's. The only guy he fought that didn't belong at MW was DLH. Trinidad had fought for a few years at 154 and knocked out MW title holder Joppy before fighting Hopkins. So he belonged at MW.

We take the biggest weight of Jones (not his natural weight) and the smallest possible weight of DLH (not his natural weight) which equates to 70lbs difference. Reality is we have a guy who just fought at 170 against a guy who has fought at 160 2 times. It's a bogus match, but it's just funny how we spin it when we want to.
