Outside of being famous for being the fight where Jones tested positive for roids, it was a classic display of how good Jones actually was. Fighting a tall southpaw with alot of power, who would later fight DM in 2 pretty good battles. Anyone else actually see this fight?

Wasn't this the fight where Roy had him stunned and showed up on the other side of him and hit him again just as he finaly realized where Roy was?

That would be the one.:deal Well, one of the times he did that to someone. Didn't even realize until just now when I was looking to see how tall Hall really was (thought he was 6'1 or so, he is listed as 6'3) that he was the WBA Interim champion and #1 contender.

As I watched the replay of the Tito fight this Sunday I remembered how much of a joy it was to watch him fight. It was like being a kid and watching Jordan play- there were only so many ways a man could dunk a ball but if you were to tune in for almost any game you would see something that you had never seen before.

I mean just look at this fight. He wasn't human.

and that is one of many examples as to why I condsider jones to be the most incredible athlete to ever step into the ring.

Agreed! A freak.

He was to offense what Pea was to defense- just utterly ridiculous.

This was possibly his most entertaining fight. I prefer the Vinny Paz fight personally, but this one he put on more of a show for the crowd.

I agree with the Jordan comments. Growing up and watching Jones fight-I just thought he was invincible. Thats why I will always have a special place for him as a fighter.

vqJUXp1xQ1II was laughing out loud quite a few times during that. Man Roy was something else.

Roy in his prime was unbeatable IMO. He had inhuman handspeed and threw virutoso combinations routinely. I don't know who could have beaten him. Actually, I think we found out....it was age.

Hall is fortunate he walked out of the ring under his own power. Other men might have been killed. Roy was ruthless that night.

Jones looked unbelievably good in that fight, the roids must have some positive effect.

BUt in that fight, we also saw classic Jones - always lacked killer instinct. Also see Roy Jones vs Reggie Johnson, you will bite your teeth at how Jones just couldn't finish a hurt fighter.

Unbeleivable performance where he just lieterally TOYED with hall. Knocked him down so many times, and at one stage ran behind him and hit him from the other side.

I remember watching that one, one of my favorite Jones fights. I couldn't believe Hall was trying to dispute the stoppage afterwards, I know fighters often do that but it was actually hard to watch that beating so taking it could not have been so good either.

I think Roy is just so confident he doesn't see the need to go after a hurt opponent, and risk taking an unexpected punch when doing so and leaving himself open. He takes his time because he knows the KO will come.

this fight also showed what was bad about roy...this guy was completely outlcassed and hurt several times, but almost lasts the entire fight.

Jones, even though flashy and aggressive at times, was always somewhat of a tenative fighter. Maybe he always feared getting caught completely flush like Tarver caught him with.

That wasn't so bad actually. More of the fight to see.

Jones never gets mentioned in lists of best defenders, he was certainly one of the most defensive, as he rarely got hit with anything notable.

Definitely the way I see it. Remember the way he used to follow up relentlessly at SMW? Then how he suddenly really stopped finishing guys like that after his first couple of fights at light heavy? I think he must have been tagged hard in sparring at some point, which made him pretty cautious. I think he realised at that point in the higher weights his chin was far from invincible, and he decided to fight accordingly.

Does that mean that Jones' chin has always been a suspect?

I agree. I just don't buy this shit that his chin suddenly deteriorated starting 2004. Chin, together with power, is usually the last one to go with age. See Ali, Holyfield, Holmes, Foreman, etc.

That was more of a slip then a clean knockdown. You can see his foot slip on, what I assume is, a puddle of water.

He slips after his balance is shook up by the shot to the jaw. He gets up clearly shaken and tries to smile it off, but fights the rest of the round defensive, which is an obvious sign of a hurt fighter. Coming from a big Jones fan as well.
