I haven't decided on this yet. Cintron is the better boxer and has a big power/punching (accuracy, timing, handspeed, etc) advantage, but he breaks down against pressure fighters with good chins so easily it's hard to favor him over Margarito, as shitty and average as Margarito is. It sucks that Judah-Margarito is off, but this is an exciting match and Cintron has wanted to prove himself in a rematch for a while now. He will be extremely motivated/focused like never before for this fight and it will be interesting to see if he breaks down again or not.

Based on the last performance of both, I have to go with Margarito TKO again. Williams had problems and had to work ALL NIGHT like a machine to win a close decision. Can't see Cintron doing it. Maybe a KO, but Margarito's got a great chin.

But great fight anyway...

cintron can't handle pressure, margarito makes him cry again.

I have noticed that Kermit punches better from an intelligent boxer stance. He creates room by stepping back a little and setting up those big punches behind the left lead but I am not about to suggest that he is a good counter-puncher... Memories of the first bout can flash through their minds at fight-time but it will be a much different fight. With that WBA-IBF unification with Cotto on the horizon, it can hardly turn into a punch-up or a slugfest... At this moment, one cannot forget about Clottey having no trouble hitting Margarito, particularly with the left hook when the mexican would pull back and the sort of damage Cintron produced on Matthysse with that punch. If Cintron doesn't catch him early, he cannot possibly fight on the back foot and control Antonio either... It is a great confirmed fight for 2008 along with Pavlik-Taylor II, B-Hop-Calzaghe, Marquez-Vasquez III, Pacquiao-JMM and Haye - Maccarinelli.

If Feliciano gave Cintron fits.....
I just think Cintron won't be able to cope with the fact Margarito can take all he dishes out, therefore Cintron will crumble down the stretch !

Margarito started his last fight very fast. I don't say that Cintron is a real slow starter but as the Margarito of the past jumped on him when they first met, now with his experience over Cintron and a bit more aggressive style he will TRY to massacre Cintron at the very first seconds.

That could be dangerous for both. Antonio will give some counter-punching opportunities for Cintron but when a few bombs will land on Kermit's face it's very hard to see that he won't remember the shocking loss... when he'll feel again Margo's cracking power, he will start going backwards. Not a great thing against Margarito...

Margarito will make Cintron cry again, I'm not a Margarito fan but I'm even less a fan of someone who quits and crys like a girl.

cintron is a fake, feliciano gave him all he could handle, even alfonso gomez and carlos baldomir would probably beat him.

I'm Going Against The Grain On This One With Marg Looking Like He's On The Outs Might Take Cintron Lightly Even With Cintron Unimpressive Ko Victory Recently. I Think Cintron Might Be The More Fucused Out Of The 2.

Oh, I don't think that Margarito will take Cintron lightly. Why would he?

1) he lost the world title the last time, no way that's he's gonna take it easy when he will be a CHALLENGER for one

2) the last time he had Cotto in his sights he lost. No way that's gonna happen again (I mean concentrating on another opponent). He HAVE to win this one and BIG because there's a possibility of other Cotto fights if he doesn't perform well.

Cintron will be better, I agree. But will it be good enough?

Cintron wasn't even IN the last fight with Margarito. Margarito crushes Cintron even more brutally this time around. The Frog goes straight to the hospital to get his ruptured rectum repaired after the fight.

im leaning towards margarito, although this time i think it will be a lot closer. Im impressed with cintrons punching power, although margarito's chin is pretty solid, has all the elements for a very entertaining fight, cant wait for it to happen.

I remember the 1st fight...Cintron did manage to stun Marg with a good, clean
shot. Kermit def has power on his side. Emmanuel does have his fighter
come in much lighter than with his prior training. Will his lighter weight be
able to sustain the same punishment dished out by Margarito? Will he stay on his toes and run, what's his gameplan for the rematch?

Tough to call...Cintron has improved as a boxer and still has power. Marg is
a power punching machine and his technique looks cleaner. We'll see.

Margarito Vs. Cintron II - Can Kermit Get His Revenge?

By James Slater

A rematch that many said would not happen, in Antonio Margarito-Kermit Cintron II, thankfully takes place this coming April. I say thankfully, because the fight is a good one, and many felt it would not take place due to the one-sided beat down Margarito gave Cintron in their first meeting. Why would Cintron be willing to go through that again?, the critics asked. Well, it turns out Cintron is well and truly willing to get back in a ring with the Mexican danger man, and this time "El Asesino" is confident he will win.

A double-header with the also intriguing Miguel Cotto-Alfonso Gomez bout, Margarito-Cintron II could well be an exciting fight while it lasts. The question is, can Kermit get what he wants this time - namely, revenge? Remember how one-sided fight one was? What improvements can the 28-year-old Cintron have made since? Kermit, 29-1(27) has won five in a row since the 5th round stoppage he suffered at the hands of "Tony" back in April of 2005. In some of these fights he's looked good - the two round destruction of Walter Matthysse, for example. While in other bouts Cintron has looked ordinary - his ten round struggle with the unheralded Jesse Feliciano last time out, for instance.

While for his part, Margarito, 35-5(25) has fought four times since April of '05, winning three and losing one. The loss was nothing to be ashamed of, however, in that it came at the hands of the excellent Paul Williams, and only via a close decision at that. Since losing to Williams (the man Cintron was originally scheduled to have boxed next, only for a hand injury to scupper the fight - for now, anyway) Margarito has blown away the overmatched Golden Johnson in a single round.

So, while Cintron may have improved somewhat under the tutelage of Emanuel Steward, Margarito certainly remains just as dangerous as ever. Can Cintron take "Tony's" big punches this time around, has he exorcised the demons that inevitably haunted him after fight number one, and, most importantly, can Kermit dig deep and get through the physical heat that Margarito will bring this time around? All these questions are tough ones for Cintron to have to face, therefore his decision to take this return fight is a very brave one. For showing that he has serious fighting pride in wanting to avenge his embarrassing loss - the solitary one in his career, don't forget - Kermit should be applauded. He could have taken the easier route and stayed clear of anything further to do with Margarito, as more than a few expected him to, but it turns out Kermit Cintron is made of sterner stuff.

However, while his bravery is admirable, I cannot see a second fight being overly different to fight one. "Styles make fights" may be one of the oldest adages in boxing, but it is a very appropriate one in this fight's case. Margarito simply looks like he has Cintron's number. The Mexican hard man has a proven chin, hits almost as hard as Kermit, is mentally tougher AND has faced better men overall.

Unless Cintron can blast Margarito out quickly ( a long-shot, surely) Kermit faces another brutal beating. Once Margarito gets through the early rounds - when he will have to take some good shots, you can count on that - the 29-year-old will begin to take Cintron's heart. Steadily piling up the punishment, Margarito will then take Cintron's IBF belt sometime after the 6th or 7th round.

Cintron has proved how brave he is simply by taking this rematch; but this bravery will progressively drain from him, round by round, once the bell rings on April 12th in Atlantic City, N.J.
That's a very good overview of the fight! :happy
