Ottke may return!
Former super middleweight champion Sven Ottke (34-0, 6 KOs), who retired unbeaten in 2004 after 21 successful title defenses, says he's willing to jeopardize his perfect ring record against Dariusz Michalczewski in a big money TV fight on May 24th in Hannover, Germany. "I can do this!" Ottke told BILD. "My former trainer Ulli Wegner will make me fit." It was reported that the Ottke camp had previously rejected the bout. Promoter Andreas Grajewski confirmed that there have been talks with Ottke but said nothing is certain and two or three potential opponents are being considered. If it happens, the bout would take place at cruiserweight. Michaelczewski is looking for a new foe after final terms could not be reached with Graciano Rocchigiani.

Cruiserweight aye...?
Id like to see Ottke lose, so a comeback is fine by me. Not sure DM is capable at his age to catch him though. ive seen 60 year olds run marathons, im sure ottke can keep running at his age!
D/M is absolutly finished as a fightwer , he has absolutly nothing left from the last 2 fights i have seen.
even before that he could barely thrwo a punch before round 4.
ottke will just circle throw a couple of jabs a round and avoid with his feet D/M for a low key , non event.
but maske v hill was huge as was shulz v the little american so money wise it makes sense.

Ottke never fought at cruiser, and the last time he fought at LHW was in 1998
Michalczewski was WBO cruiser champion in 1994 and since 1995 he was at LHW
I think that this would be a mismatch

I can't see Ottke jabbing around DM, when at his best Michalczewski had one of the best left jabs in boxing. Many of his KO wins were due cuts that foes suffered from that strong jab.
At cruiser they will be slower and thats in DM's favour

Well no more mismatch on paper than the Tito-Roy fight, and the only difference here (but a big one) is that Ottke can actually match Michaczewski in skills and not only match him, but he's got better skills overall.
Interesting fight. CW could be too much for Ottke but he doesn't have to be 200 (and I believe the contract weight would've been 190 for the Rocky fight anyway). He can be 180 or something and with his defense, Dariusz won't outpower him. And any weight more than 185 is too much for Dariusz too.
And Ottke retired in his prime, he absoultely outclassed Krajnc in his last fight and Dariusz was knocked out so I'd pick Ottke.

And of course I'd watch it for FREE.
The oldies are fighting on free TV in Europe.

The sad part about DM is that he was in fantastic shape in his last fight against Tiozzo and he got dominated so there is not much more he can do in preparation, his skills have declined badly.

Only 6 Ko's and one brutal against Anthony Mundine the black superman :D
Bizzare fight, I think Ottke wins...

Ottke could come into this fight with no arms and legs and he would still win a UD.

Needless to say he won't be coming back to call out Joe Calzaghe.

Dariusz was spending more time promoting his book and clubbing than training in the gym so his shape wasn't so good. He was declining much before the Gonzalez and Tiozzo fights, he already looked avarege against Hall and Harmon

Mundine is a JOKE...Bute will :ko :vonnecunt him...:lol99
IF Mundine had the balls to fight Bute he'd beat him via wide UD IMO. But he'd prefere to waste his ability fighting cab drivers, quite sad really.

I remember that fight very well.
The funniest thing was the count. The referee was so confused because the unexpected happened that he gave a full count for a guy who just a corpse. :patsch

:rofl
Do you think Ottke managed to summon the strength to knock him out because he was angry?

If any of you visit Australia, you would be amazed at the Mundine love. They think he is Marvin Hagler over here. I wish I was joking.

Mundine DID get ktfo. But he's also 3 times the fighter today than he was back then. I'd honestly tip Mundine to win by a very wide UD against Bute; possibly late stoppage depending on how Bute's chin holds up. Not that Mundine is a very powerful puncher, but his speed and sharpness in his punches will be landing CLEAN, FLUSH punches. It's different to a power puncher, similar to a Roy Jones I suppose.
When Mundine DOES choose to fight a big challenge, he spends a lot more time in preparation and fights a helluva lot better, e.g. the Mundine that LOST to Kessler would of EASILLY beat Siaca.

DM should not fight again. He was declining even before his last fight although he still kept winning, and he was completely shot when he fought Tiozzo. And now he is 3 years older (and he looks like someone 10 years older).
One may say Ottke retired even earlier than DM, but that is not the main difference. Ottke retired before he got completely shot, and although I don't know much about him I can almost bet his lifestyle is much healthier than that of DM. I don't think figting at cruiserweight would give any advantage to DM - he looks so washed up Ottke should easily decision him at any weight.
Only good thing for DM is that Ottke is not a puncher so at least this fight is much safer compared to other possibilities like DM-Hill or even DM-Rocchigiani (although Dariusz would stand a good chance in the last one, since I am not sure who is more shot).

Then Ottke is Ray Leonard to them, right?

Btw, Ottke said he will only make this fight if there is a weigh-in 1 hour before the fight with 185 lbs being the limit.
It would be funny if Ottke could KO DM in the same style he KOed Mundine...

The only KO in his career, and he survived Kessler

now where as ottke was a long standing super-middlewieght champion(with dubious decisions on what must be 4 occasions) dariusz was a lighehavywieght champion for far longer agains tjust as gfood an ops. he also won a cruiserwieght belt as well which is quite crucial here.
power is all dariusz. skills is prolly ottke but dariusz has a dinamite jab which sven doesnt use effectivly.
i dunno it's got to be dairusz
