With both the Peter - Maskaev and Ibragimov - Chagaev fights taking place in October, looks like for sure we won't be seeing Wlad unifying the titles in his next fight, so who in your opinion would be the least worst opponent he could face in the meantime before meeting one of his fellow champions early next year?

it's a tough one IMO but right now I'm saying Valuev. Only I can't see Sauerland allowing that and its not like it'd have been a real contest anyway

but honestly is there a fighter out there who won't be a complete push-over like Ray Austin for Wlads next fight?

maybe a fight vs the winner of Sprott-Skelton just to please the British crowds could be a fight that could be made but honestly poor Wlad having to fight in an era with so few good heavyweights round him.

If only Povetkin had fought 5 or 6 more fights, we might have seen someone realistically challenging Wlad.

Juan Carlos Gomez is perfect oppenent for him.

Vlad needs to fight someone who makes him look good, I think a Sanders rematch could be a good one or Purrity for revenge,Toney? Rahman?Ruiz?NAH they have done nothing.....GOMez is a bore and needs to fight his way back..

Rahman, Valuev, Virchis, hell maybe even retire Krasquitti(if he is awarded a decision against Thompson) if nothing better comes up before taking on the Chagaev/Ibragimov winner.

None of those shot americans like Hollyfield or Rahman! My nightmare would be Wlad vs that fat dwarf Toney!
Wlad vs Virchis on Ukranian soil would be really big!

A good question. His fight 4 fights have sucked, becouse Wlad has been too good.

I would like to see him next against:
Luan Krasniqi, Oliver McCall, Nicolay Valuev or Juan Carlos Gomez. But I have an feeling that he will face Hasim Rahman next.

Here is IBF world rankings:

1 NOT RATED
2 NOT RATED
3 Lamon Brewster
4 Calvin Brock
5 Chris Byrd
6 Nicolay Valuev
7 Hasim Rahman
8 Ray Austin
9 Vladimir Virchis
10 Sergei Lyakhovich
11 Tony Thompson
12 Eddie Chambers
13 Evander Holyfield
14 Oleg Platov
15 Shane Cameron

Not too many interesting guys... :huh This situation sucks for Klitschko. He is the best, but has no-one to fight.

I think Wladimir should take on WBF American Champion, who also fought for the NBA belt.

Top 5 available opponents
1 Nikolai Valuev
2 Juan-Carlos Gomez
3 Oliver McCall
4 Hasim Rahman
5 Sergei Lyakovitch

Backup opponents incase none of the above agree
1 Vladimir Virchis
2 Eddie Chambers
3 Donnel Holmes
4 Chris Arreola
5 Corrie Sanders

Long-shot opponents
1 Tye Fields
2 Malik Scott
3 Jean-Francois Bergeron
4 Michael Moorer
5 Oleg Platov

Personally I'd prefer if he fought Gomez or Valuev. There really isn't any credible fighters left for him to fight outside the titleholders which are all tied up until at least next year. The up and coming european and american heavyweights are still unproven and none of them besides Povetkin has really done anything to separate themselfs from the rest.

I do not know. It is a complex situation. At this point we do not see many available opponents for the end of the year. I believe that Vaulev is interested in fighting for the WBA so that he will not risk such a fight at this point.

he is a true champ now.

samuel peter
nikolai valuev
ruslan chagaev
corrie sanders (maybe we have another surprise here)

Sam Peter - done
Valuev - would be nice, Wladimir will win by TKO
Chagaev - same (Wladimir wins by TKO)
Sanders - Nice rumble, but not an adequate "revenge". Sanders is over the top and Wladimir would punish him even harder than Vitali did. But he would't gain anything. Another loss would be a desaster and a win (well, there is no honour in massacring elder golf players...)

Hasim Rahman - I'd tend to pick him as a good risk/reward option.
Valuev - would generate a lot of interest for him with casual
sports that may pay off as substantial interest in him during
unification fights to come.
Sanders - if it's possible. Just for the sake of it.

Personally I'd like to see him against Toney - but that's just me.

It was gonna be a very interesting fight against Valuev. Watching the giant being KO by doctor steelhammer its something that makes a nice show. Imagine Vauev falling down like, Boooommmmmmm.

just a thought.
