There were also several non-heavyweight notables on the card. Olympian gold medalist Yuriorkis Gamboa (3-0, 2 KOs) stopped veteran Joel Mayo (40-12) :35 into round two of a lightweight bout.
Right after his fight Gamboa went to the airport to fly to Miami where he will be reunited with his wife and daughter who have just defected from Cuba to join him.

2004 Olympic gold medalist Odlanier Solis (3-0, 2 KOs) won a clear four-round decision over Aldo Colliander (12-2) on Friday night in front of a good crowd at the Arena Gym in Hamburg, Germany. Solis who had blown out his two previous opponents in :47 and :43 second was almost apologetic after the fight vowing to return to the "other Solis" next time. It was revealed afterward that because of an injured ankle, Solis had done no sparring in preparation for the fight. Manager and promoter Ahmet Öner stated, "No other promoter in the world would have let Solis fight under these circumstances. But he wanted the fight and I knew that he would win anyways. Nobody can stop this man!"

Mayweather was aggresive two in his 3rd pro fight.
I know that, but i'm hoping this guy will still be agressive even when he's a champion.
This Style + Agressive = Is Great to watch. :bbb

Gamboa does indeed remind me of a young Mayweather, with a little bit of Guzman chucked in :D , he looks like he can be a true great, the speed, power, defence and technical ability already looks top class, i can't wait to see how he get's on in the future.
get him to the states now i say!!

ATG? I think you made a mistake and posted a Kirk Johnson fight. I could swear that is him.
He was sloppy, missing really badly with wild shots, out of shape, and didnt look particularly fast.

Believe me the promoters down here are far too amateurish to get anything going. Yes I am from Miami.

Yan Barthelemy and Yuriorkis Gamboa were born the same day 1981/12/23 :yikes

Well that's great :D , do you think someone like Mayweather SR would be interested in training Gamboa?, now that would be interesting  , i honestly think he's gonna be a superstar in the game.

Mayweather Sr. will be good as a trainer for Yuriorkis, and he will have a great sparring partner in Joan Guzman.
But maybe that's not a great idea because Floyd Sr. could make him to defensive.

Well i'm not sure, i think Gamboa is far too good offensively too worry about that, i think the defensive tricks he'd get taught would be good for him as in a tight fight that could be key, what weight would be fight in when he moves to the states?, and have you heard of that other cuban in Germany called Yoan pablo Hernandez?, he looks like another class act.

They aren't moving to the States. The promoters here are FUBAR, they will continue to fight in Germany for now.

In Super Featherweight or Featherweight he will be a TOTAL MONSTER, but right now he's doing great in Lightweight, i think with his ability he could end up fighting in Welter.
---
Yoan Pablo is good, he fights in Cruiser, but in terms of Talent i think this 3 guys are better than Hernandez.
Without a doubt, Hernandez will be one of the Top Dogs in Cruiser in a couple of years, and he also has the height, the youth and the build to fight the big boys in the Heavyweights.

There have been talks several times. Their first fights were supposed to be in Miami. It is because no one but Warrior's down here represents a serious promoter, and they really are more of a booking agent for the casino, that we don't get anything down here.
DRL, Elite, Seeno, Florida Boxing Promotions, all of these guys are pretty amateurish.

I have seen their events. Of all the promoters outside of Warrior's down here they have the best stable, too bad no one knows about it. WestSide where are you from? I give them credit. They can fill the Mahi and are pretty consistent and work the ESPN2 dates well. Others down here, I won't mention names publicly, tried to be big timers and ended up blowing a lot of money fast.

And yes, they have a good stable, i hope they will improve.
But JC Garcia was really a big let down for them and the fans in his last fight :-(

Mental lapse for sure. Not sure what was going on but he was talking back to his trainer and just generally letting himself down so.
Dude PM me and tell if you are from Miami or not, get your opinion on the other promoters outside of Warrior's and DRL. Yes I like DRL and have a good relationship with them, but no one really knows what is going on and that is the problem.

So when do you guys think Gamboa will eventually fight in the states?, can he be bought out of his deal in Germany?, and as Westside said if his family is in the USA then surly it's only a matter of time before he goes there?,

I don't know about that, he seems to have a really good relationship with his Turkish promoter.
But he will definatly have some fights in the States in the future.

Solis when in shape will be an absolutely brilliant fighter. He has really quick hands and feet (hard to believe when he is as fat as he is), but most importantly he has power. The guy has a winning receord over Felix Savon.
If you want someone to defect it has to be Rigondeaux, now he would become an atg as a pro.
