Vic KOed big time! :-(

Sounds like he got beaten pretty convincingly too.

I reckon he will have to 1) move up in weight 2) change his style a bit

Big KO. Came out of nowhere too. The fight was going along like a bit of a chess match (not a real pain inflicting point for Vic's standards anyway) and was fairly evenly poised, then Vic gets suckered in and eats a left that sends him down. He gets back up at 9, then falls into the ropes.

Hmmm

Did not see that coming at all. But Vic had absolutely no answer for Donaire's size.

No opposite. This fight proved that he shouldnt move up in weight. Primarily because size will play a big part. Vic has mainly knocked out opponents his size and smaller.

Apparently they said (before the fight) that he'd definitely be going up in weight.
Perhaps this loss brings him and Arce on level terms now. Wonder if there will be noise for these two to get it on. Vic always wanted the fight, but Arce wanted none of Vic. Maybe Arce might fancy his chances after todays fight.

If they do get it on after both coming off a loss, it will kinda be like the whole Mundine/Green thing. At one point in time, Green was supposed to beat Beyer, and Mundine wasn't supposed to lose to Siaca and the fight was meant to be a unification fight.
A Darchinyan/Arce fight now would be a pretty similar scenario.

He was too cocky and walked into a perfect left hook. I had the fight even up until that point. He'll learn more from this than he would if he just beat up another victim.
He has had this coming for a while but I didn't think Nonito had what it took, he proved a lot of people wrong.

Except one was the biggest fight in our country's history and the other wouldn't be televised.

Only problem I see here is that this KO has really dented Vics pride. Im dreading Mundinesque repercussions here in terms of fighting on the back foot. Vic is now aware that he is not invincible (much like choc found out against sven) and may not maintain his all-out aggressive style.

He needed to tone it down and fight with a little more respect for his opponents. In his last few bouts he was just walking down his opponents doing what he pleased without any fear at all.

A massive punch a perfect left hook. WOWQuite reminiscent of RJJ's KO loss to Tarver.
Both came in with a punch and missed, both got tagged by massive lefts, and both attempts to beat the count were quite similar as well.

His defense is shocking at times and that KO was a perfect example.

Nice left hook.

Really sad to see Vic cop a KO like he did. Donaire exposed how poor his defence really is, but I still believed Vic would've got the better of Donaire had Vic lasted a couple more rounds. Back to the drawing board for Darchinyan .... or as the Greenwood Tavern called him ... Darchingar:rofl I know what I'll be buying Vic for Christmas ... dancing shoes ...

In this case it was leaning to far forward with the right and not bringing it back in time (and to the head/jaw) that got him into trouble.

Being knocked out by that punch shouldn't play to Vic's confidence negatively too much. Atleast he wasnt KO'ed by a soft one or something... it was a tremendous fucking shot!

Hopefully like Tszyu, Vic will learn from this loss and bounce back stronger.

Donaire looked great and made upset of the year. Nice work!!!

It will be a test of Vics gumption from here. The comebacks are a good test. He was reaching the over rated stage in my view.

"In this case it was leaning to far forward with the right and not bringing it back in time (and to the head/jaw) that got him into trouble." I Dont think so, he lead from the outside with the uppercut, poping his head up .Have a look at the clip.

They are saying Vic wasnt very gracious in defeat. Any truth to this those who actually watched it? Does Vic have a questionable chin?

Hard to say, he literally headbutted that left hook with his jaw. His chin was up in the air and he was comming forward, he didn't just take it flush his momentum gave that punch extra pop.

He might have been a bit out of it for the interview though, but then again Vics always been a big talker so who knows?

zab judah does it pretty well...

all the greats lose. i reckon vic has the tenacity to come back from this stronger than ever. might even be a good time to get the loss that many felt was coming out of the way. learn some humility to go with his power.. vic with respect for his opponent will be a much scarier fighter than the chin first slugger he risked becoming

yeah, I think his fights up until today have been too easy for him, and he became complacent and thought every fight would be that easy.

A good wake up call for him, let's see how he bounces back from it.

I hope Vic comes back all the better after this.

Vic has a bad habit of sticking one hand out and hitting with the other opening himself right up. He has been doing it forever and his speed was getting him out of those type of counters. I reckon Jeff was trying to settle his down in this department. Vic showed a ton of courage though and tried his best to beat the count. Warriors instinct. A rematch would be a good idea because Vic will win all he has to do is watch that counter again and go in behind a faint or jab before unleashing. Bad luck Vic you will return.

well done, thats a great tip!!!

some of my mates who like boxing loved Vic getting beat, they all said he was too cocky.

Any other people hear the same thing?

I was shocked to see him beat and it pissed me off, but seeing the fight now, i guess it was bound to happen sooner rather than later

its funny when you watch it again - almost like watching a bully pick on someone his own size and get his ass whooped!

i agree with you in saying that it was going to happen sooner rather than later - im a huge vic fan but his defensive flaws and agressive style got in the way. He was so hell bent on getting a knock out that he didnt pick his punches well enough - as a result he copped the big counter and it was good night

i dont wanna see him move up in weight - we saw how he handles the bigger guys
