Knockout of the Year: CURIEL KO'S MINTER ( in the Contender event, after
loosing all rounds, battered Curiel landed a sizzleing

Fighter of the Year: MIGUEL COTTO
Comback of the Year: HENRY MASKE (Maske came back after 10 years to beat the
only man thats ever beat him, Virgil Hill)
Slugfest of the Year: MORMECK VS. BELL 2
Biggest Robbery of the Year: DIAMOND VS. HUERTA (last minute replacement
journeyman with 9 losses took the fight to kid diamond all night, whacking
him, denting, him, knocking him down, even almost knocking him out, then the
judges pulled out their guns and JACKED Huerta in one of the worst robberies
ive ever seen in my life)
Worst Fight of the Year: TAYLOR VS. SPINKS (need I say more?)
Biggest Upset of the Year: HUERTA VS. DIAMOND (even though Diamond got the
win)
Bloodiest Mug of the Year: JORGE ARCE (when he lost against Christian Mijarez)

Best Performance : KELLY PAVLIK (when he knocked out Miranda)

I agree with you, that fight was class. I really tend to enjoy technical matches that have a bit of raw brutality in them over raw brutality with a bit of technicality over it, and then definitley enjoy both of the above over club fighters slugging each other, i.e. Gatti/Ward.

Jmm/Barrera was action packed, technically sound and competitive, very entertaining.

Jmm/Barrera was action packed, technically sound and competitive, very entertaining.

That was one of those very few fight where you can apreciate the quintessence of boxing.
Each punch was thrown perfectly with everything behing, power, speed, balance, agressiveness... textbook punches.
I was very impressed by Marquez performance in that fight. I think he deserved to win (althought not as one sided as the judges saw) and Barrera did very well too with the perfect right cross counter punch that dropped Marquez.

Definitely one of the best fights of the decade.

to me...u forgot to read...TO ME.... not you..me.. to me pav miranda turned one sided after 3 rounds...cotto judah also had the drama, styles difference, the fact that cotto would wobble when judah tagged him flush, the cuts, the manner in wich judah just crumbled mentally.. it was all there...dont get me wrong....pavlik miranda was great...but imo cotto judah had more drama and a very satisfying ending....we all knew that pavlik was gonna destroy miranda...it wasnt surprizing...but i wouldnt have guessed that cotto was gonna war like he did and knock judah out in the 11th....i was one of those who thought that judah was gonna knock out cotto...so thats why...
