He looked good on his debut, his strking was good actually. He was just outsmarted. He also needs to work on his submissions just in case his GNP gets neutralized. But still, he had a good debut.

He is just inexperienced. They threw him into a HORRIBLE Stylistic matchup in his 2nd MMA fight. I think they must have wanted him to lose. I feel bad for him. He can still do well though.

How was his striking?
He took him down right away. They were stood back up after he hammer fisted the back of MIrs head and was deducted a point....with no warning. Mir worked a couple of leg kicks, and on the second one he was caught with a right hand and fell. So Lesnar's striking wasn't that bad. and he looked good when he was on top of Mir. He showed some definite skills.
How was his striking?
Not great, but he did knock Mir down with a powerful right hand. He's strong enough, that if he moves forward it's going to scare the hell of out of most people. So, it was better than expected, I guess.
As for my overall impressions, I think what I always thought: with the right amount of experience, this guy could be scary good. He's a physical freak, and you can't discount that power.

Overall though, I say yeah, I was somewhat impressed; he looked scarily powerful, how anyone can defend a takedown from him in UFC rules is hard to see.
His striking was actually non-existant, I assume the thread starter meant his GNP? You would NOT want to mounted by brock lesnar :good
Negatives, he looked a bit stiff and ponderous, but i guess that's the flipside to being that big and poweful.

Good refereeing, I think. Even though you don't usually see instant deductions for that particular infringement, you should. I mean, touching the cage usually incurs an instant point; hitting round the back of the head is worse than htat.

they shouldve put him in with sylvia and put mir in with nog. those wouldve been even better fights. overall i was impressed with lesnar he showed great power and g'n'p skills but made a rookie mistake which i dont count against him because he is essentially a rookie. he will be back and he will be better at submission defense.
I think the only 2 bad matchups for him would be mir and Nog. It would be interesting to see even the best takedown defenses stop him.I don't think anyone could stop his explosive takedowns. And he will only get better.

The only people I see giving him trouble are top level submission guys.
Strikers and wrestlers(who will all be smaller than him) are just going to get steamrolled by this guy.

Brock was just too green. If he is groomed properly, he could take MMA by storm. If he stays with the team he has now and lets them build him into a well rounded fighter, he could be a challenge to anyone.

I wanna see him do what he did in first minute for 3 rounds. Then I'll make my judgement.

Looked pretty good. Not surprised that he lost, however.

Personally i thought Brock looked very good. He was large and cumbersome but his striking from the mount could have been better instead of all those rabbit punches. Once he learns to defend against submmisions im fairly sure he can be a contender. His shooting is excellent andi doubt theres anyone current in the UFC that can prevent him from taking them to the mat. I would have loved to see this event co promoted with Vince McMahon. it would have been awesome for wrestling fans aswellas the UFC and WWE.

I think that if Brock really learns some submission defense, which was exactly what I thought his weakness would be (and possibly taking punishment)... Lesnar is going to be an animal. For a guy in his second MMA fight to be manhandling a Former Champion like that is a great sign. It was almost a set up to put him in there against a guy with such a great submission game from his back. We all knew that was where the fight was going to go.
I am not sure that a guy in the heavyweight division without a very good sub game from his back is going to be able to beat Brock. The man is an absolute beast.
I hate to say it but I wanna see Brock vs. Silvia. We still have no idea about Brocks chin and I hate to say it but Silvia will test it, not to mention the style match-up for this fight is perfect for both these fighters. Likewise I wanna see a Nog vs. Mir fight for the same reasons of a great styles match-up.

Why would anyone want Brock to win unless you are a WWE fan? He's bad for the sport. He wouldn't even have BEEN in fighting had not his NFL tryout failed. The guy just went through the motions and disrespected the sport if anything. There are tons of fighters who have trained for years and years and never had, and may never get the spot Lesnar had for his SECOND pro fight. Lesnar should've worked his way up like everyone else, not get his fight against Mir by name power alone.
Well you can't hold it against a guy because he has a name that an org. knows they can make money off of. I just liked how last night showed that skill beats strength and you need to know more then punch punch kick. You need to have somekind of knowledge in sub/subdefense to get somewhere in this sport. Who knows if Brcok stays with it and learns somekind of JJ he may be a force to fear, or maybe not.

Well, I guess you can't be a fan of pro-wrestlers like Barnett and Sakuraba then can you? :hi:
Those two fighters sure do disrespect the sport don't they? Yep, they suck!

It was horrible refereeing by Mazzagatti. I've seen him call bouts before, where he'll warn a fighter at least 2-3 times to be careful about rabbit punches. He didn't do that here with Lesnar. Fuck, it wasn't even Lesnar's fault. He's punching Mir in the temple, Mir tucks his head as Lesnar is following through with another punch, and just like that, Mazzagatti not only stops it, but deducts a point.
If I didn't know any better, I'd think that Mazzagatti was biased against Lesnar. It was a shit call.

Mazzagatti did the same thing in Baroni - Shamrock.
It was gonna end the same way regardless I think.

I was impressed how easily he took Mir to the mat. That was a bullshit point deduction too, but as I feared Mir submitted him.
