View Full Version : Chuck will KTFO Shogun

Chuck is the better striker. Chuck hits harder.
When Shogun gets outstruck he goes for a takedown. Shogun's takedowns are rubbish. Chuck's takedown defence is great.
The fight will remain standing, leading to Shogun getting KO'd.

I believe the same plus Shoguns stamina is garbage atleast when he isnt on roids it is. Chuck should KO him or decision in the same manner he did Wandy.

Now you know what you have to do...
bet the house on Liddell or a minium of + $10 000 since it's a certainty. :thumbsup

I don't bet because I'm a smart man.
But that is my prediction and I am confident with it.
If Chuck fights halfway decent, and Shogun looks like he did last time, Chuck will knock him out.
With the rules as they are, not a good match for Shogun. But, never know! Chuck's leg kick defense looked like GARBAGE against Jardine. Shogun has a way better leg attack than him, and if he can sustain an attack, he could just fuck Chuck!

If chuck is back fighting good Shogun is in for an whole world of hurt.

Chuck has always been a horrible style match up for Wandy and Shogun. My early prediction is Chuck, because unless Shogun can get him to the ground and keep him there, standing with Chuck will be ill advised.

So Chuck has one good fight after two bad ones and is the man again, while Shogun is a write off after one bad fight? Am I following this logic right?

Don't write off Shogun. He's a beast. His injuries might have set him back a little and we'll have to see how he recovers from that.

Yep :D
Saw some vids of him training, he has some absolutely wicked leg kicks, quite quick!

What if Shogun just had a bad night, and next time he fights he looks like the Pride Version? Who's to say Griffin wouldn't make Chuck look just as bad as he did Shogun? Look how average Jardine made Chuck look.
I'm predicting Shogun to come out real determined and give Chuck a bad night.

A decision win over a shot Wanderlei who was koed in his last two fights and everybody is back on Chuck`s nuts.

Prime Chuck knocks prime Shogun the fuck out - styles make fights, and the UFC rules favor Chuck even more.
Chuck could still lose if they fight now, though, because we don't really know how much he (or Shogun) has left.
But prime-for-prime Chuck would take him out.

meh
Shit happens ;)
Shogun is good in the clinch, but his other striking is pure garbage. His takedowns also suck. Plus, Chuck is huge. So, yeah, Shogun isn't winning this fight. A few years ago, I might have said it was possible. But after watching Shogun get tooled by Forrest, I don't think he has a shot in hell. Chuck isn't going to pull a Rampage and eat knees in the clinch. And Shogun's punches suck. Therefore, I see no possible way he can win.

If Shogun fights like he didn't against Forrest (who also had an absolutely terrible shoulder injury that needed surgery for a while that he finally got after the fight) Shogun is going to get hurt.
If Shogun at his absolute best shows up, he will still probably lose, Chuck is damn near impossible to takedown or even clinch, and Shogun loses a striking battle at a distance.
If Chucks smart he mixes in takedowns and 15-30 seconds worth of gnp throughout the fight, his gnp is really damaging and his takedowns looked better than ever against silva.

Beebs talks sense.
Shogun was a great fighter, but his time has passed unfortunately.

I agree, at 26 he is clearly "shot" and "passed his prime" just like chuck was a few months ago and Rampage was another "shot" fighter before he managed to be one of the best fighters of the year.

:patsch
Shogun ain't 'shot' guys, holy fuck.
You can't be shot at age 26 especially since Shogun hasn't taken that much punishment.
He didn't train hard for Forrest and rightfully got his ass beat, one bad night does not equal = shot.

I dunno, I wanna see shogun next fight before i make my final judgement. He suits Liddell's style perfectly but I think he could pull it off.

Bullshit, he still is a great fighter, but Chuck is a terrible fucking match up. Anyone at 205 who Shogun can put on their back, he can beat. I still think he takes Forrest in a rematch. But Chuck is absolutely a nightmare for anyone who has to win on the ground at 205.

Dont know if shot is the word, but he got embarassed last fight, not just out conditioned but out skilled, out everythinged, and while hes looked good in the fights before that, he didnt look like guy who took out rampage, lil nog, overeem, and arona.
I think he captured lightning in a bottle during that run and was absolutely perfect, but i just have a feeling that he will never live up to that level again.

He just had major reconstructive surgery on his knee, so I doubt he's been training at all for a while.

The rumoured card is as follows:
UFC: JUNE 14, 2008 IN LONDON
Venue: O2 Arena in London, England
-Mauricio "Shogun" Rua (#2 Light Heavyweight in the World)* vs. Chuck Liddell (#4 Light Heavyweight in the World)*
-Marcus Davis (#10 Welterweight in the World)* vs. TBA
-Brock Lesnar vs. TBA
* Based on MMAWeekly World MMA Rankings
Dana certainly seems intent on throwing money down the drain trying to crack the UK market.
However I know that I'll certainly be making the journey down South to see Chuck/Shogun in person.

Chuck is an awful match-up for Shogun. Shogun is great though, and I would love to see him vs Rampage again.
To all of you guys saying that Shogun is past it, or shot.... wtf? This shit has got to stop.

I'm not writing him off, but he lost to a guy who wasn't #1, so he doesn't deserve #2.
You don't get sympathy votes.

I'm uncertain about this match up at the moment. Both men seem to be on the downside of their careers. Perhaps this fight will tell us whether or not Shogun is truly shot.
I don't even understand how this fight came to be. Last I read, Liddell was asking for a Jardine rematch. Instead he goes after another Shute Boxe fighter coming off a loss? WTF?

Comeon, which fight would you want? Which fight means more, will be a bigger fight? The Chuck vs Chute boxe argument has been around for a while and now we get a chance to settle it.

I think that we know by now that in the UFC, the fighters really don't go after anyone. The organization decides who fights who, and when. To be honest... I have no interest in a Liddell vs Jardine rematch, unless one of them won the title.
Now a Jardine vs Alexander rematch would make sense, and I would like to see that.
