Are you kidding?
FUCK NO :-(
Until he fights the other hcamps he doesn't come close
I dont think it is a prerequisite to have multiple title belts to be ranked P4P (i.e. pac, hatton, bernard...etc). Based on his obvious improvements and recent dominance, he may not be there yet but I think it's hard to rate him far past 15. But you're probably right, a dominating win in a unfication bout would probably push him into the top 10.

I think the top 2 are pretty unanimous. After that, its a crapshoot. I have no problem w/Jermaine anywhere from five and on.

You know what's sad.... Taylor is currently in the top 10 P4P, yet even at his smaller weight I think Wladimir still showcases better all-round skills than he does.

Everybody here on this thread has their head up their ass... Klitschko easily should be in the top ten. His skills are textbook and the guy has all the tools... I think everyone is too used to having lightweights fill the position of P4P.... Imagine if many of the lightweights put on 100 pounds, then we would see how good they are with extra weight....
Keep on Pimpin', Biatch!!! :hat
Nope. I dont think thats the case. I respect Wlad and know he's talented, but he's not top 10 p4p in my opinion. Sorry.
I think there are at least 10 fighters out there that deserve those spots more then him. Stop tripping. Its not a knock on Wladimir its just reality.

Or you are so far up his ass you can't see the light of day. His accomplishments don't merit top 10 consideration at this point. Look at some of the guys NOT in people's top 10.

Why would I put Calzaghe ahead of Kessler? Kessler has a better jab, is stronger, better footwork and defense, and punches with more authority. But hey, I'm no expert, I'm just a guy with an opinion. Hopefully these two will fight each other and we can see who's better.

I can see Cotto and Hatton being on the fringes of peoples top 10s but not in them. But he doesn't have Pacman in there....thats not cool.

Wow, didn't notice that....Pacman seems like a lock for top 10 so I don't even bother to check that

No Cotto or Hatton?
I personally don't put a whole lot of stock in guys who don't have great boxing skills(I learned my lesson after the Lacy debacle). Neither Hatton or Cotto are great defensive fighters, and neither have a great jab. Cotto relies too much on his left hook, and Hatton throws too many off balance shots(If you notice Pac isn't in my top 10 either). Both Cotto and Hatton, as well as Pac, are damn good fighters, they just don't have the skillset for which I place alot of value.

P4P is about skill. However, it's hard to tell just how skilled someone is unless they've gone against some good fighters.

07-08-2007, 03:44 PM

Back in the 80-90's Wlad would have simply been a 20's ranked contender.
He's much better than that

I like Cotto, don't get me wrong but his biggest win is over a guy that Tszyu starched with ONE punch in two rounds when he was at his best.
Hatton's win over Tszyu shits all over any win Cotto has had.
but didn't vince philip destroy tszyu before hatton got to him?:hey

i dont think it was hatton fault he was facing no names, it was frank ******.
Hence the best fighters Cotto fought were all better then Judah and all had more then Castillo and KT did when Hatton faced htem.
:deal
please name all these fighters who were better than jlc and kt?
Not better as ATG's or based on accomplishments
but better as current fighters because they were younger, stronger, and went through less ware.
ex: Torres, Abdullaev, Pinto, Malignaggi (current champ), Quintanna.
Same goes for this example:
Tyson that Lewis fought vs Peter that Wlad fought.
Tyson is obviously the better ATG and all time fighter
BUT from the standpoint of a more dangerous current fighter with less ware and more hunger and strength Peter was the tougher fight and opponent.
See what i am saying?
If you are a boxing fan you have to understand that concept.
KT and Castillo had more experience and more mature and developed styles
but they had physical deficiencies due to the same lessons that gained them that experience.
kt may not have been absolute prime, but he had previously just demolished mitchell in 3 rounds, and kt would probably beat those guys you mentioned now - 2 years after hatton. and i wouldn't be suprised if jlc beats them all also.

He is in mine. It is commonplace to punish Heavyweights in pound for pound rankings, but he is easily one of the Top 10 best in terms of skill and cleaning up a division (either through ass kickings or other avoiding).

I like Wlad, but he hasn't cleaned up a damn thing. There are 4 beltholders in the division and there is no real proof that they've all avoided Wlad.

In truth, some probably believe he should be lingering somewhere around the bottom of the P4P rankings.
While not an absurd thought, you should own your own division (which WLAD incidentally admits he does not) before having your name plastered to mythical P4P lists placing you against others who have legitimately earned a reputation of dominance in their respective divisions.
Larry's Big Beautiful Man just isn't where he "...wants to be..." yet.
he most definately did:lol:
i didn't misunderstand anything. a kt and jlc even with wear and age are tougher fights than the fighters you gave as examples.
