It could go either way because of their last fights. Hatton was hurt bad by one of Urango's body punches and went into clinch mode. If Castillo wins this it will probably be with a body shot late on in the fight. Castillo also tends to slip his arms under clinches and uppercut which could work against Hatton.

I want Ricky to win this one as it would be good for British boxing if he does but my 6th sense tells me that Castillo is planning something special. I hope I am wrong as I dream of Hatton and Ajose Olusegun contesting for the unified world titles in Manchester one of these days.

Hatton said everything you just said and has been working extra hard on his body, so I hope it wont be too much of a factor.

If he can get back to his best then yes his more compact punches could take Hatton out late on

I think that Castillo will win because he been in many brawls and can take a punch as well. Yes he on the slide but if he was to win it would be that he experienced and Hatton done himself no favours the way he treats his body between fights. But if you ask who I want to win then its Hatton but i personally see this 60/40 in favour of Castillo

This is the only way I see Castillo winning (or frealk cut), as Ricky has started to gas of late, then there is a chance he might get took out, as Castillo has underrated punching power.

For anyone who is saying now (or after the fight for that matter) that Castillo is shot, is talking out of their arse. They are getting their built in excuses in already, so if and when Hatton wins, the can say "Castillo was shot"

Which brings me on to another thing, one of the other problems with boxing today is as soon as someone loses they instantly say he is shot or overhyped (P4P ranked nr3 Tszyu, anybody), and possibly the fighters start to beleive it themselves. someone shoud recite the story of Jimmy Braddock too them, 3 fights before his HW title fight he was something like 18wins 23 losses

apologies for waffling

How is Castillo on the slide. His two fights with Corrales were the best of his career and the two opponens following that bout were never going to be the type to be explosive against especially following the Corrales wars.

In UFC hardly anyone is unbeaten its all about the dollar - unbeaten tag, plastic title makes money.

I think both know the dangers each other possess and im worried both could go on the defensive and this could end up being an anti-climax. I really hope im wrong but i see hatton winning by UD with no knockdowns.

Good call both are very good technical boxers when they want to be- it could turn into a cagey type of fight with Hatton looking to score and move and jose chasing but with a little to spare.

I think Castillo might slip in a mexican liver punch to derail Hatton. For some reason I think it will be anti climatic like vasquez - marquez. I have a bad feeling it gets stopped on cuts, I hope not but its possible.

Castillo and Hatton should have their chins sponsored by Lafarge Cement, I believe this fight will be determined on who is most effective to the body and who slows down the most.

Time will tell Jeff but one thing I do know is that Hatton does not need Ajose because amongst other things stylewise he is ready made to order. It will be similar to Azumah Neslson versus Fenech particularly the 2nd fight.

Jeff do you think the likes of Ted Bami, Colin Lynes and Lenny Daws will step in there with Ajose Olusegun or will they keep avoiding him. Personally I more hopeful that Young Muttley will be willing to step up to the plate.

I am not getting carried away. I did not say they are the same style wise. Azumah has more explosive punching power pound for pound in relative terms, Ajose has more speed, skill and technical savvy pound for pound. What I am sayiong and please quote me on this in the future when Ajose fight at the highest level is that he has it in him to be the best African fighter since Azumah. I am not getting carried away I just know what Ajose can do.

Hatton is far from Duran he is more like Jeff Fenech. That is not to diminish Hatto who I happen to like and have a lot of time for because amongst other things he is a genuine and likeable kid who in my opinion all of the country should be proud of. Those of us from Africa who know Ajose Olusegun feel the same way about him to.

Ted Bami versus Ajose would be a good match right now.

I wish Ted Bami would stop pulling out of contests with Ajose. You might not be aware of this but Ajose was supposed to fight Bami for the Commonwealth title last year. Bami pulled out saying he was injured and then Lynes signed to fight Ajose as well and pulled out before Ali Nuubembee stepped up to the plate.

Ajose put on a boxing clinic against Gary Reid winning just about every round as shown by the judges verdict. Gary Reid prides himself on body punches yet Ajose made a point of assaulting Reid with body shots.

Gary Reid admitted to me when I congratulated outside of his changing rooms that Ajose was the best fighter he had fought a claim I saw he had already made in the post fight interview at ringside.

Interstingly Ajose only rated his performance as average saying he gave himself only a 50% pass mark meaning there is a lot more to come when he fights opponents that can push him.

Jeff why do you think so many fighters in Britain are avoiding Ajose? I know you said you were moderately impressed but pleased tell who else in Britain at Light Welterwight or Welterweight can box as well. At world level there is obviously the exceptional PBF who I think is now retired unless there is a De La Hoya rematch.

Castillo maybe shot though, I scored his last fight to Njoudo 7-5 I think in a close 1,thats a pretty bad sign. The Corrales 2 fight was 2 years ago and hes been innactive since.

We don't know how much Castillo has left and maybe he can get back to his best. But hes at a new weight, has had 60+ fights, fought about twice in 2 years against lower level fighters and looked bad last time out against a mediocre fighter.

Risk/reward simple as that, Ajose has no fan base just yet and is a very good fighter.... he isn't going to be an easy fight for anybody that is safe to say but there are some decent fighters at light welter/welter that would give him a good fight.... Bami may be avoiding Ajose but for me their match up would definately be good to watch. David Barnes would be an intresting proposition as would Nigel Wright and Lenny Daws though I concede they might be a league or two below your fighter it would still be interesting to watch. At world level you really are leaving me open to knock your fighter- Ajose will not be on anyones p4p list just yet and the thought of him in the ring with Cotto or Pretty Boy or even Hatton really shouldn't be something his management are looking at just yet. My thoughts are this- superb potential, nice movement, good boxing brain, low tenacity, moderate power, excellent ring generalship, good concentration, chin can't be bad so all in all your fighter ticks a lot of boxes and you should be exceptionally proud of him.

Also nice to see James Oyebola in the corner..... I loved watching Oyebola back in the day.... I cried when he lost to Scott Welch I was only 12/13... lol.

Thanks Jeff. First of all you obviously don't know how difficult it has been to get Ajose fights with Barnes, Lynes, Bami, Wright, Jennings and co. Believe me it has not been for lack of trying. Ever since going to Wales and stopping Bradley Pryce as a late substitute Ajose has been avoided like the plague. It would be nice to fight this guys but they and their actions as well as their promoters have made it clear. We have no choice but to step up. Ajose was number 12 in the WBC ratings before the fight against so I expect that as the current Commonwealth and African Boxing Union champion he will move into the top 10 in the WBC ratings.

Ajose is not on people pound for pound rating yet. I emphasize the words "yet" because in time he will be.

Why do you say low tenacity and moderate power. Ajose has stopped better fighters than Reid for the record. His power is not in issue. We should credit Reid for going the extra mile even though he was hurt and shaken to his boots.

I will be seeing Big Bad James tomorrow. We have a meeting so I will pass on your regards to him.

Keep up the thoughtful and interesting comments brother.

Hatton is more like Fenech to me. Does not quite have the skills of Duran. That is not to denigrate Hatton or Fenech mind you.

Keep up the thoughtful and interesting comments brother. Glad you value my opinion I try and be fair as possible when summing fighters up though probably don' give antony Mundine enough credit. I didn't feel he pressed for the stoppage enough Vs Reid and you have to admit he isn't a out and out bomber is he? Thats why he is low on tenacity... as fo power I think its more a case of speed causing the stoppages.

He has stopped better fighters and bigger fighters than Reid by that I mean in higher weights. Nuumbembee had never been stopped. He is a combination puncher with speed and punch variety. He does not have to rely on pure power though believe me he is a very hard puncher as well. The tactics were not to go out and stop Reid only to pursue it if it came. The reason being as an avoided fighter he needed the title period. I know you have not seen as much of him but trust me brother this is a true chameleon of a fighter as would be proven the more you see of him. The variety is exceptional.
