ok everyone great week this. Here are the changes there will be no more yearly ranking stuff it will just be cary on from right now get your points and keep them until the end of the year to see who is overall best predictor. However, I know that the whole year would then have been for nothing cause zakman was ahead of the rest on the yearly rankings, so I will put extra points onto everyone who had yearly points. So zakman you are 76 points so far but I will but i will add 20 points onto it as you were leading the championship, oblate, northend, pimpc and brooklyn get an extra ten. Me, sugarshorts and amsterdam get an extra five as we did have ranking points. So now the points will just carry on until we have a winner at the end of the year. Feel free to ask if you dont get what I am talking about. :deal :good

True, he is facing a good fighter and I give him credit for that, but we know Khan has excellent boxing skills and great speed, but I want to see him in there with a guy who has power and will test his chin.

LB - what an honor, you closed the yearly contest and declared me THE champ?? Thanks guy! :good I suppose after 30 years of watching the sport, I SHOULD be able to predict fights, right? :D

Anyway, here goes for this week. If my Margarito and Sprott predidctions come through I should widen the lead for this period:

Margarito TKO 8
Cintron TKO9
Gatti UD
Krasniqi UD
Dimitrenko TKO 7
Sprott UD

I'm just going to note a few things Zak -

You don't like Tony Thompson, you picked both Guinn and Ibrag over him and he beat both of them by near shutout scores, I feel Kras is on the slide considering he struggled with tomato can Minto, so it's at least a toss up, mostly on if the Germans score it fairly.

We both made the mistake of overrating Gatti at WW about this time last year, while Gomez is a club fighter, he's not much worse than Carlos Baldomir and is a decent sized LMW over a totally shopworn Gatti. I think Gomez grinds him out like Bumdomir did.

Sprott, I agree, Skelton sucks.

Margarito/Williams is the pick em.

Either way, this is the best week because so many opinions can be formed on these bouts, I took the chance with Sprott, Williams and Mathysse.

I don't think much of Thompson - basically he's a slightly better version of Ray Austin, and every bit as old. The ONLY thing he's got going for him is that he's a southpaw. Luan is better than him in almost every respect. Unless he is washed up as you suggest he should beat Thompson rather easily.

Gatti-Gomez at this point is close to a pick 'em fight. Gatti may be damn close to done, but if he can beat guys like Daamgard a year and a half ago, he can beat even lesser fighters like Gomez now.

The Margarito pick is probably the one I'm most unsure about - but I think his big-fight experience will prove the difference.

Sprott's a on a roll, and Skelton is extremely limited. He's basically a clubfighter, and he's OLD.

That's why I like this week, so much room for subjectivity and we'll see who the top dog is.:D

Well, here is the thing, Daamgard is a tiny 140 pounder type fighter with a known shaky jaw, and Gatti struggled with him before getting his brains beaten in by Baldo....

Gomez is a club level/fnf opener type fighter, but he's a decent sized 154 pounder, who's able to shed down to 147 without draining because of his body type, the guy's not a hitter, but he hits as hard as Baldo does and he's a bit larger as well with a CHIN that can take the shots of Manfredo and other MW's....

Manfredo is limited, but he's KOed SMW's, which Gatti simply couldn't do.

.............

Sprott's our guy mate, he KOed Fraudley, of course I am supporting him!:yep :good

But yes, Krasniqi's really on the slide that bad, he looked terrible against some journeyman and terrible against Minto, both of which he only threw like 15 punches a round, where as Thompson at 6'5 is a limited, older guy(Kras is just as old), but he can bully and land shots on a docile, smaller fighter.

Ray Austin would likely KO Krasniqi at this point, Krasniqi doesn't even have any desire to fight and is just collecting checks because of his name in Germany.

I see it as who gets the decision in Germany really...:yep

Sometimes you have to go with the club fighters my man!
