According to boxrec his comeback fight will be against Isaac Hlatswayo in May, and for the IBO Welterweight title.
Im hoping this is just a boxrec mistake. :huh

I copypaste my post from another ESB thread:
Stop the BS before it's getting out of control!
Isaac Hlatswayo is a solid contender who defeated Malinga, P. N'Dou, Baloyi and Campbell before the slick Holt outboxed him. Since then he moved up to WW to win the IBO title against decent (but not A-level) competition.
Hlatswayo is no world champion of the 4 big organizations, he's no Ricardo Torres, Junior Witter, Paule Malignaggi or Gavin Rees but he's a pretty solid contender as I've said.
He's taller than Ricky has a larger reach and he's 10th in WELTERWEIGHT in The Ring ratings. He's no joke.
So if it's a double-header with Paulie Malignaggi, after the first loss of Ricky's career, which was a KO loss, Hlatswayo is more than legitimate opponent!

'He's no Gavin Rees'...have you actually seen that oik or are you just making the point that he's no world champion.
Because if he's 'no Gavin Rees', god help us.

I cant comment on his quality as i honestly have never seen him in action but his record looks average on paper.
I do have a problem with Hatton using this, if it comes off, as his homecoming fight when his fans, who have paid fortunes to watch him in the states for his last few fights and the thousands who have filled the UK arena's over the years, being fleeced when they all want the Witter fight.
I personally think Hatton hammers Witter but its the fight all of the UK fans want to see. It could be made easily, yet they might be going with a guy who very few fans will have seen.

Another welterweight fight? Hasn't he learned anything? If this is true I hope Hatton gets another date with the ringpost. This is all about trying to grease the way for another fight with PBF, which nobody wants to see.

Well... I don't think it's gonna be a welter fight... Hlatswayo is a WW right now but I don't think that Ricky's next fight will be at WW. Isaac can climb down to LWW and at 140 Hatton is the IBO champ so it's either a mistake and/or a SA editor put the very unofficial info up. I'll ask a boxrec editor if it is important but it's 90% that just some editor jumped on the info, as Dan Rafael said in his chat nothing is finalized yet, there are several opponents in discussion.

It doesnt exactly set the pulse racing does it?
So many decent fights that can be made at the moment aswell, cant understand the logic behind this as he and his team will surely know that most people wont buy this.
I do have a sneaky little feeling that the Witter fight will be made this year though.

You a Witter fan?I would not classify myself as a mad Witter fan per se, although I do like him as a fighter. I feel Ricky is continually losing face over the issue, and he doesn't realise it. He feels he can pull the wool over his 'fans' eyes with whatever he says as gospel, not realising us hardcore boxing fans know the truth.

I noticed your 'fubar' word above your profile pic, that place in Stirling is like religion to my mate Chris Boylen through here in Edinburgh.

One of Hatton's many excuses for avoiding Witter is that he's unknown and it's a hard fight to sell. I'd call myself a boxing fan - I watch a lot of fights - and I haven't heard of this Hlatswayo chap. Hatton is full of crap.

Like i said i still think Hatton beats Witter without too much trouble but the excuses that keep coming are getting very laughable.
There was a time when i didnt think Witter deserved a shot at Hatton but he has done well in winning a genuine title, beating a couple of decent guys in his run and is actually being talked about more often.
There are no longer any excuse in my opinion why this fight shouldnt take place and at somepoint soon it will be made to happen.

i'd rather see him fight this guy within 3 months than the other likely scenario which would be him fighting noone until late summer / early fall.

Its an ok fight after taking a beating the way Hatton did, but I hope he takes on Witter or Malignaggi next.
Judging by the Hatton interview I just watched on the Sky Sports website his next fight will be at cruiserweight

So... who did Witter fight after his first loss? Which was a decision loss of course, not a devastating KO loss... Let me tell you: Steve Conway! Steve Who? Steve "I've never fought a guy with a positive record" Conway. DLH fought the shot Mayorga after his KO loss to Hopkins. Cintron, Quintana, or bigger names like Judah or W. Klitschko all fought tune-ups or ‘half tune-ups’ after their KO loss, and why a tune-up? Because they got knocked out the last time around and they needed a win to get their confidence back. It's that simple.
Hatton could jump back to the mix with a big one, I'd like that too, believe me! Bring on Hatton-Witter right now! But then again, even the biggest names usually fight tune-ups after a KO loss. Jones didn't, and look what Glen Johnson, a ‘supposed to be a tune-up guy’ did to him. It's the same mistake Taylor is making and just a very few can jump back with a bang (Lewis-Rahman II is a good example, but even Lewis fought a bum after his first loss.)
The main thing is: Hatton, big name or not big name, coming off from a KO loss, the first after his 40 fight, 10 -years-long undefeated career. And Hlatswayo, even if he isn't a world beater, is a very decent contender for any champ, and because the most of you have never heard of him, it doesn't mean he's sh*t. If he'd be sh*t, he wouldn't be on The Ring WW rankings, right? He's not an elite fighter, but he's not a joke, a bum or an easy tune-up either, and certainly not some little guy from a lower division. What more do you want if Hatton's team already choose the 'tune-up after the KO loss' road? It's a damn good tune-up fight... We are not talking about a 22-10 fighter Judah fought after the Cotto loss or a 23-18 bum Quintana fought...
And don't forget: the event is supposed to be a double-header to build up a Malignaggi world title fight... so even in the Hlatswayo fight Hatton is looking to fight a champ, so don't worry guys!

I dont think this point is of any relevance, Witter was hardly experienced fighter back in 2000 though and hardly known, even Hatton wasn't hardly known eight years ago.

I'd call myself a boxing fan - I watch a lot of fights - and I haven't heard of this Hlatswayo chap.
Then I would suggest you don't follow the sport closely enough, to be honest. The guy is a contender. Not upper echelon, but a contender none the less.
I wouldn't fret too much guys. The latest I've heard is that negotiations aren't going too smoothly at the moment.
