Hell of a fight. Good fight to make as well, Machida doesn't finish well so the chances of him straight up pulling a Houston Alexander on him are pretty low. Machida can more than hang with Shogun on the feet, but I think Shogun will be able to get that body lock and drag him down. On the mat, nobody at 205 puts people away like Mauricio and Machida won't be a big problem for him.

This should be a good fight.
I hope Shogun becomes champ soon....he really desered to fight for the PRIDE championship back in '05 but obviously couldn't due to his friend holding the belt.

Good fight, but I don't like this matchup right off the bat. Let Machida build a name for himself and let Shogun run over Griffin or some TUFer to let the fans know he is legit. Too early for these two, IMO.

I agree let him whip up on a TUFer, I like watching most of those guys get lumped up.

Great fight for the hardcore fans but bad marketing as alot fans won't have heard of shogun and aren't too familiar with Machida.
It would have been good to have put shogun vs a TUF'er like Jardine,Griffin or Alexander.

It doesn't matter now, this will be a great and competitive fight.

Very Very good fight.....But awful match making for a ufc event! Like someone said he should have been pitched in against a TUF fighter, then a fight like this. Dana is a fool

I can't seem to edit my posts for some reason?

Anyway what I was going to say was my thoughts on the fight.
I don't think Machida has quite the strong enough punches to KO Shogun and I'm not sure if he has the ground work to submit shogun either.
I could definitley see him outworking shogun and winning a decision.

Its hard to know what shogun could do to Machida, as Lyoto hasn't lost yet.
The removal of stomps/kicks to the grounded opponent has taken something out of Shoguns offence somewhat.
