“There are guys out there, like Duddy, Giovanni Lorenzo, Arthur Abraham and if you edge up to 168 [pounds], guys like [Joe] Calzaghe and [Bernard] Hopkins,” Arum said. “He has a big fight in June, and when you go on from there, he can do some spectacular things.”
This is the promoter' thinking. I'd like to see four of the 6.

cant see him fighting calzaghe - joe's already moving up to 175 to fight bhop, and once he's done that i cant see him coming down. Will AA fight outside Germany? Will Pavlick go to him if he won't? Hopkins is going to retire after JC, win or lose (and he'll lose).
so Duddy and Lorenzo

The Pavlik camp was contacted by the Calzaghe people, so they are interested. If he should lose to Bhop, then I don't think he wants a Pavlik fight. If he wins it might be one last good fight for him if Pavlik keeps winning. A more popular Pavlik and Calzaghe's exposure to the US with a win over Bhop could mean big bucks. In truth, this is the fight that I most want to see.

He should beat up on guys like that for a minute, then go up to 168.
<snip>
Calzaghe and Hopkins want absolutely NO part of him.
I know Kelly is motivated, but his days at 160 may be limited as well. He seems to be comfortable makin 168 though. Maybe Calzaghe is a pipe dream for Arum though. Kelly could move from one weight class to another and never be title-less.

I would love to see him and Abraham get it on. I think Pavlik wins in a brutal fight. They are two of the best offensive fighters in the middleweight divsions.

He'll fight Duddy in June at Madison Square Garden, that's already been informally announced. After that, he MIGHT get Abraham, but I don't trust the Germans and won't be surprised at all if it never comes off.
There are options are 160 still - I wouldn't be opposed to him fighting Sergio Mora on free HBO (you could even put that one on network TV since mainstream america knows who Moora is) - that fight would seriouslly increase his visibility among the US public. Winky Wright is always a possbility, or even Vernon Forrest. He should beat up on guys like that for a minute, then go up to 168.
Calzaghe and Hopkins want absolutely NO part of him.
I thought Abraham already said he's ready to come fight in the USA so he will get his shot @ Pavlik?

Nope - Pavlik is suppose to fight Duddy in the Summer and Emmanuel Steward said he has a contract for Lee to fight Pavlik - if he beats Duddy. So, it looks like Pavlik's first two defenses will come against Duddy and Lee - if everyone continues to win.

He isn't a middle weight, doesn't have a title, and does't guarentee fight interest at the box office in the US. Not things on a promoters radar. But then again, this was a short clip in a press interview. He probably did put out the fights that could happen, or he wants to see happen within the next year.

This is the first I've seen about Lee. Have a source by any chance?

It's ridiculous. Pavlik is overrated, the only MW who recently was overrated more was Taylor before his 1st loss.
If he stays at middle he should try and get Abraham.
If he moves up it has to be joe Calzaghe...once Joe beats hopkins ofcourse.:yep

Best I could find on the net were two articles within a day of that post saying that they were in talks. Then this one two days after the esb post.
However, Pavlik’s manager, Cameron Dunkin, is less than keen on a bout with Lee as he believes the 23-year-old Irishman is not yet a big enough draw in the United States.
"I have no problem with Kelly fighting anyone, but nobody knows Andy Lee,” he told ***********.com.
”There are people out there that mean more to Pavlik. I think it's Pavlik's turn to make some money."

I thought there was a contract signed to fight Duddy in July but what the hell, if he beats JT in whichever way, he can fight almost anybody for the right amount of money... I say almost anyone cause he won't say he wants to beat Maskaev - that was one insane Bernard's line and Big O won't probably be there.

I think it is June. I'm not sure the contract is signed. Would it be standard practice to wait until after a fight to finalize a date in case something happens during a fight? Like a broken hand? I can't imagine Duddy not wanting the fight either way the rematch goes. I've seen some references saying it isn't a title fight, but I'm pretty sure it is. Could have been poor writing mixing up the Taylor fight and the Duddy fight. I see Duddy ranked as high as #3 by one organiztion now.
