Against a Southpaw

if you are an orthodox fighter, you're supposed to circle to your left or am I wrong here?

There are no southpaws at my gym and im just getting damn confused when thinking about it.

I'm a newb but I'm "pretty sure" you circle to your left. Since they are fighting southpaw there right hand should be leading making there left hand there power hand. So if you move to the left, you are effectively moving away from there power.

thats what im thinking and thats what ive been seeing most pro guys do against southpaws, im just having trouble picturing it in my mind, lol

yea, you should be circling to your left. i love sparring south paws, to me they are easy to figure out. but you circle your left and make that right hand of urs effective.

yea you should be keeping your lead foot outside theirs to stay out of their left's range. i like fighting southpaws myself. its like an etra challenge but i always figure them out and never have problems with southpaws

keep your front foot to the left of theirs, use your straight right as a jab

Definately circle to the left. Your right's are very important against southpaws ..... make the most of it.

Different for each fighter. Depends who you are fighting. Doesn't matter if they are southpaw or not. Each person needs a specific approach.

ok i dont know what it is but im a southpaw and i have no problem withthe right hand. if you have a good duard and a good jab it's easy.

:huh why do poeple think lefties are a sucker for the right hand... it takes afar lot longer to reach the target it's easy to slip and throw the right hook

now in a orthodox-orthodox fight / / both men are equal in distance the left hand is closest.
now in a orthodox-southpaw situation \ / the right hand is further away meaning more room to lunge foreward with a cross. also meanig more time to react as the right comes.

besides the left cross from a southy has the same advantages and disadvantages as the orthy.
