This fight does not make a lot of sense to me.
Wlad should fight guys that have some name recognition.

Why Not Shannon Briggs
That obviously is not true. Why would Wlad waste his time with Gomez, who isn't even ranked in the 10.

Why Not Shannon Briggs Because Briggs is both one of the most boring and inactive heavyweights in boxing?

I doubt he will fight Gomez. I cannot see HBO giving their ok to this fight, due to outside of Cuba and Germany noone knows Gomez. But nevertheless Gomez would be a tough nut and more comepetetive than Briggs or Rahman.

that would have been a very interesting fight given Gomez' slick style and speed, but i doubt it will happen. Klitschko's got bigger fish to fry. Besides, Gomez is a cruiserweight in all fairness.

Wlad could get a good KO over a name opponent like Ruiz, Rahman or Briggs at the garden, to warm him up for a unification fight.

Gomez is a really good fighter, although not much of a puncher. His loss to Diaz hurt his career, but if you ignore that, he is one of the most talented HW's today.
However, i'm not convinced he can come into a fight in shape. He needs a tuneup before Wlad.
Plus Wlad should fight the Chagaev-Ibragimov winner.

didn't they find McCall's crack in Gomez' blood? no wonder McCall got so mad

although gomez is not the biggest names in boxing he is very skilled, maybe more skilled than ihe ibf champion but he has to train properly and should have a tue-up before. that fight would make more sense when held in germany.

I like Gomez but I doubt this fight is coming off. I dont see what Wladimir would have to gain from this fight.

Yes, Lamont Zero, we already got your point. Everyone is more skilled than Wlad. He's just big.

One of the most awful risk/reward ratio fights Wlad could actually find in the heavy division. Good thing for him it won't happen.
And Gomez' power is underrated at heavy.

The only way Wlad fights Gomez is if he somehow beats Vitali this Saturday, which isn't going to happen.

i believe gomez has a better chance against vitali than again wlad..why?,well wlad has a weak chin but gomez lack the kind of power to get him rocked...i think wlad has more one punch power than vitali...styles make a fight...said this i believe vitali is more durable and has more heart than his brother.

The only reason I see this fight coming off is if Gomez beats Vitali Saturday and Wladimir is unifying once again. Anyways, Wladimir shouldn't have to be inactive for a whole year, he should get a June fight. 2 days for Haye to negotiate, otherwise Dimitrenko it hopefully is.

Break the crack pipe............... Gomez is going down this Saturday........ I see a guy who is psyching himself up, but not really sure of himself at heavyweight........ Klit by KO!
