View Full Version : Prediction: Taylor/Pavlik II won’t be very exciting

The first fight was exciting but this time Taylor will have to box and try not to get knocked out again. this won’t be a toe to toe action packed fight some are expecting. He’ll also try to be conservative with punch output so he doesn’t gas out again. unless Taylor made some major improvements, this fight will either end in a Pavlik KO(like the first one) or a close decision. I’ll be watching the fight at my boys house but I don’t think it’ll be a fight of the year candidate. Hope I’m wrong, let me know what you think

Well I'm screwed then. I have to buy this PPV (Mijares-Navarro, Montiel-Castillo), but if you're telling me the rematch is going to be more boring than the first fight (I'm in the minority who thought the first was only so-so)...:scaredas:
It's too bad there isn't a half-price option to just buy the undercard.

i think most of the fight might turn out to be like rounds 3-6 of their first match, not exactly action packed.
I think it'll be much less dramatic than the first fight because Pavlik won't be knocked down this time. Without the 2nd round, the first fight wouldn't be considered anything special. It should still be pretty exciting though and the undercard is going to be great, so it's worth the 50 bucks.

At least I can switch over to Slice-Abbott and see some equally meaningless but probably more explosive silliness. :D

I sort of agree as far as fight of the year is concerned, and the MW title isn't even on the line this time, but the odds of a KO still are very high, and at the minimum Taylor is a live dog.
Pacquiao/Marquez II has a better shot of becoming FOTY, however.

Ha. I'll laugh my ass off if Kimbo gets dealt with. But he ought to win.
Rematches rarely live up to the first fight. In fact im struggling to think of one that did...? :huh
anyway, i think it is in Jermains best interest to box clever this time.

Vazquez/Marquez II was superior to the first fight, I thought. Actually, the little guys usually have better rematches as a rule than the big men.
Holyfield/Bowe II was pretty damn good, too, though.

See, at least in that fight I have a tiny shred of vested emotional interest. The part of me that thrilled at Tank's antics in the bygone decade, buried deeply as it is, still has more enthusiasm than I can muster for two dubious middleweight champions who aren't even vying for middleweight supremacy any more.

Makes sense. I'm still more excited about Pavlik/Taylor II because I'm much more of a boxing guy, but however that one goes, I'll have the other stuff ready to roll on the DVR.

But for every Vasquez Marquez 2, you get half a dozen Ward Gatti 2's or benn - Eubank 2's, more Barrera - Morales 2's...

Definitely true. They usually don't live up. I was just pointing out that there is hope.

Oh, boxing is lightyears ahead for me as well, MMA was a phase that I more or less got over circa the Y2K/9-11 period (I tune in now primarily for ridiculous freaks of nature like GSP - and the odd circus act such as Lesnar-Mir and Slice-Abbott). I was just always underwhelmed with Taylor, and am still not entirely sold on Pavlik as the world's best at 160, nor will I be after another likely stoppage of Taylor.

Thread starters a moron.
It's not in his tempermant to stink out a joint and go backwards all the time.
It's not in his temerpanet to stink out the join and fight like Floyd Mayweather.
Besides, he doesn't have the skills to do what fighters like Floyd do.
This bout will be action packed.
How do we know what's in the thread starter's temperament? Or had you meant to change the subject of those predicates? If so, to what/whom?:think

Boring is quite good for Jermain it means the track shoes are on and he is running and slapping for a points win, however if he chooses to really fight then it gets exciting and the probability grows that he will get KTFO.

What a comedian...
That was not even slightly intended as a comedic post. Do you not know how to tell the difference?

Let's not lose focus. The meaning of "He" is supposed to have been clear?

dork.........
So, in other words, yes, it should have been clear and you stand by it? Or, no, you didn't clarify as well as you intended?

you're jsut trolling me, bro? Why?
You should maybe grow up a little bit.
(did you notice the typo?)
I'm simply using this guy's "calm and assertive leadership" techniques to curb the undesirable behaviors of an aggressive dog.

The fight will be plenty exciting. Pavlik always comes to fight and Taylor will give everything because he has nothing to lose.
