I am sorry but this is too funny, I had to make a thread about this. Mijares is a very good fighter(now) but damn. :rofl :rofl :rofl

It is amazing how a "Supernatural" can lose to such a shitty fighter.
Oh did I mention, fuck Amsterdam.
Jermain Taylor>Cristian Mijares
Bernard Hopkins>Joe Calzaghe

Thats a pretty dumb thread. It was his 4th fight, a 4 rounder, did he have amateur career? He beat Arce convincingly and recently now thats a testament of his skills not some fight in mexico that none of us has even seen.

Still you don't lose to that caliber of an opponent and be deamed the greatest thing since sliced bread. The guy wins one fight in a carrer with 21 bouts. That is the ultimate can.
Some around here have no place to trash other world champions when their own favorites lose to these types of opponents. It works both ways (I am trying to prove a point)
Bernard Hopkins lost his first fight against an F level opponent, does that stain his legacy in any way?

:good
It's pretty clear that Mijares is more skilled and versatile than Taylor. And as a bigger Hopkins fan than Calzaghe fan, he's not at Calzaghe's level anymore.

D+ level, and I said I am trying to prove a point. You can't trash a champion for not being perfect everyone has flaws. Amsterdam says Mijares is better than Floyd, JT is trash, and I am just pointing out there are blemishes in everyone's record that you can bitch about. A fighter cannot be "God" (horrible analogy anyways) and lose to a fighter who is now 1-21 that is like an up and coming star losing to Eric Crumble and being world class today. Plus Mijares lost his 15th carrer pro fight to a fighter who only had 4 bouts and ended up being a C- level fighter at best. So it is not just a "pro debut"
I respect Mijares, he is at worst an A- level fighter at this point in his carrer, but I don't respect arrogant posters who trash world champions that always fight the best, come off KO losses for immediate rematches and are humble in victory, as well as in defeat.

Calzaghe or Mijares will never be considered on the same level as Hopkins when all 3 of there respective carrers are over.
Right now their legacys
1. Hopkins
2. Calzaghe
3. Taylor
4. Mijares

I don't really pay much attention to that loss to be honest. Early in Mijares career and right now, he looks like he can't be beaten. He's got the goods indeed
Though I KNOW one thing, that if Jermain Taylor had losses like that early in his career, Amsterdam would never forgive him and bash him relentless. Just shows you how biased he can be. :yep
Thank you, someone sees the point I am making.

Why is Mijares even being brought into a discussion as far as legacy is concerned with those 3??? Oh and you think Taylor will have a better legacy than Mijares???? ROFL Mijares will triple the legacy of Taylor's by the time its all said and done!!!

I said right now, read the damn post. He still has to get past Montiel, and Taylor might just shock the world 168 has some quality fighters.

Taylor makes millions of dollars every fight and has won multiple robbery decisions coming up. Mijares makes a fraction of that and has had to travel around the world fighting anybody to get a shot at the title, he didn't have HBO hype to help him, all he had is his skills. Taylor deserves his criticism and there's no point of being sympathetic towards him. I don't know how anyone could talk any kind of shit about Mijares. If you can't see that Mijares is in a much higher league than Taylor, then you're blind.
Mijares had no amateur career and has learned coming up and made great adjustments to his style over the years. He has improved significantly after every fight, unike Taylor and still continues to get little respect from the boxing world, unlike Taylor. Jermain will get more respect for lasting 12 rounds against a B level fighter yesterday than Mijares will for dominating a B level fighter.

You call Taylor's close decisions "robberies" say he just got to where he is because of HBO. I guarantee you when Hopkins got into that ring with Taylor he did not have the same "vision" that HBO had. Taylor fucking earned those decisions, Zakman and Amsterdam have warped your mind, learn how to score a fight based on a 10 point must system.
Taylor's last 7 fights have been the most demanding in boxing today. He does not deserve the criticism, if Hopkins and Winky were on another level then they would have perfomed better but he proved that he was up there, now is it styles? Maybe but so be it.
Read my posts I said I respect Mijares as a fighter, I was just proving a point that NO fighter is perfect. Is he more talented than Taylor? Yes. Has he beaten better fighters than Taylor? No.
Give me a valid reason to give JT criticism besides "bullshit" scoring which isn't really bullshit but that is out of his hands anyways. He does not back down from a challenge and you should be commending him instead of hating on him. Taylor is GREAT for boxing.
Think for yourself son

If Mijares was American than it would have been a different story. I know this is off topic but it kinda is the truth...Mijares has more skill than Taylor and Pavlik combined. Yet the little guys don't get the credit they deserve. Theres probably more talent at 115lbs than there is at 160lbs. But obviously its a different game at each weight.

Bullshit decisions are never great for boxing, you're the one who needs to learn how to score a fight. I don't hate Taylor, but he's very lucky to be where he is and it's because of HBO. Nobody's perfect, but Mijares is a lot more perfect than Taylor.. that's for sure. :D

115-113 over Hopkins twice, close but clear. You call bullshit, I see a legit decision, if B-Hop was so much better then he would have actually won the fight. Instead of clearly losing 7 rounds in each of them. That equals a loss if there in no kd's in the fight if you want me to do the math for you, you seem to be a bit challenged on this matter.
Very lucky to be where he is? You can only get so far on promotion, you have to step in the ring and get the job done. Taylor would already be considered a journeyman if he was overrated.
You are either perfect or your not and no man is perfect care to explain what "more perfect" is    . Taylor's resmue>Mijares as of now and that is what really matter, I gotta run you have a wonderful evening. :hi:
