How painful is it from a scale of 1-10? It could be anywhere from not warming up and stretching properly to a serious untreated injury. Do you get the same problem after you lift weights, particulary curls or bench pressing or even non weight exercises like pushups or chinups?

it's probably about a 5 on the pain factor. sometimes up to a 7. it's almost like it's numb as if i overworked it. but i can't c how that would be if i have done more at other times, like playing basketball. or to go into the next question lifting weights. i bench every other day n i don't get the pain. curls quite possibly could be it, but the thing is that i very rarely do them. today i did 5 reg and 5 hammer curls but the weight was only 15 pounds. it was very easy for me to do, that's y i don't think that is it.

If it's a 5, I would try to lessen my training routine a bit and see if that helps, if the problem persists I would consider seeing a doctor. I use to get pain from hitting the bags for extended periods of time, though this was a result from bad form at the end of most rounds.

I got another question for you, do you lift weights before you hit the heavy bag or after? There has been many studies done to prove that lifting weights and then hitting the bags right after, could cause shoulder injuries, my dad actually injuried his shoulder at a young age doing that, and it was a problem that became a nagging injury into adulthood.

i usually hit the bag on days i don't lift. n then after i'm usually too sore to lift for a few days lol. i think it quite possible could be my form. i might just have to take a step back and do everything slow motion and get everything back on the same page or something. how do u have ur thumb when u punch?

I have my thumb placed along side my knuckles, certainly not hanging out there. I have a feeling the sore shoulder is resulting from bad punching form, the hook is probably the punch thats doing it. I doubt you throw a punch like Charlie Zelenoff, but there's a good chance your getting lazy at the end and throwing wide hooks and over extended you punch, possibly putting undue stress on your shoulders. This is just a guess, it could be a result of alot of things, bad form as far as lifting heavyweights, over training, or even a untreated injury from a sport.

Try and take a break from boxing and rest up the arm. Message it and if the pain continues than ask a proffesional about it.

You might be aggravating a nerve...... You can try to diminish the amount of pain by releasing pressure on that nerve. If you can't pinpoint the exact point where the nerve is hurting then you can't ice that area. I recommend seeing a doctor. When you talk with the doctor ask him about "Diabetic neuropathies". Some diabetics have problems with nerve damage.... You might want to be tested for diabetes. Also look at your diet and make sure you are not eating a lot of processed foods. Last recommendation would be to stop jacking off with that arm.

Good luck.
