Very hard fight for Thaxton to win but he has a punchers chance. Most likely Romanov will be far too much for him to handle.
Will be a good fight for the fans though and at least Thaxton is showing he has some balls.

Thaxton doesn't stand a ghost of a chance IMO, but it's nice to see him get this shot.

I think it will be a better fight than most of the early pundits are currently calling it. It could be close and I would side on Thaxton scoring the win.
Romanov would be the obvious favorite but his Zoff performance and lack of regular fights may swing it towards the improved English mans direction.
If it does come off I will be looking forward to it very much.

And who do we think the loser of this one will fight????
Its ironic isn't it - first Khan calls out Thaxton then withdraws as his mandatory and ****** blatantly name drops Romanov after the St Clair fight but goes onto announce Kristjansen as an opponent instead.
Just makes all the talk from the Khan camp look even more ridiculous now that Thaxton v Romanov has been confirmed.

I predict some more irony. I predict Thaxton will beat Romanov, and Khan suffers a shock loss (I have no idea how) to Kristjansen.

Are you hinting that the great hope's handlers have doubts about his chin :yep

Claypole the Clairvoyant?
If your prediction comes true that would be ironic - especially as those fights are only one day after the other ....
I think it s a smart move, it gives Thaxton a shot at the EBU title aswel as a high world ranking, a payday and even if he loses he will still be British champion, if he wins he comes closer to cornering a payday with Khan.
Romanov is world class and I would pick him to retain his european title on his worst night. Thaxton is a very live underdog though.

thaxton will lose, bye bye shot at amir.
thaxton will lose, bye bye shot at amir.
A Thaxton loss to Romanov is more likely to gain him a fight with Khan than if Thaxton was to win.

A Thaxton loss to Romanov is more likely to gain him a fight with Khan than if Thaxton was to win. Only if he is completely outclassed. Then Romanov will be out of the job! Bit of a prediciment.

I think your being misled.
This is a fight in which Thaxton has nothing to lose and everything to gain, look at the situation, he is British champ but the most lucrative challenger doesnt want any part of him instead he is being targeted for a shot at the EBU, so now jono has secured the fight, he gets a pay day, the opotunity to win the european title and an automatic world ranking, and if he wins Khan has nowhere else to go, other than more commonwealth defences or the WBU, (which I think ITV are not interested in!), also if Romanov were to beat him he wouldnt lose his shot with Khan as Khan doesnt want to fight him anyway!
Thaxton will go back to defending his British title, and ya never know, if Romanov batters Thaxton easily, it might give Frank enough courage to put Amir in with him, thus giving another a pay day and a shot at the Golden boy or Silver boy shall i say...

Whoever loses this fight has the best shot of getting a fight with Amir.

Fillip Fondu has a better chance of fighting Khan than Romanov and he would still have to be seen geting ko'd ringside by a bit of stray warm air.

Filip Fondu?
A chocolate fondue has a better chance of fighting Khan as it would melt in a hurry saving Khan having to take it out with a flurry!

A great fight , I expected Romanov to take a hard fought decision but I'm expecting a war .
If Romanov wins he will go on to get his shot at the 'WBA' title , by which I mean he'll be fighting Jose Alfaro for the WBA 'regular' title and not Juan Diaz .
If Thaxton wins he'll have plenty of options . He could go straight for a World title shot , he could defend his European title a few times , he could add the soon to be vacant commonwealth title or he could even(unlikely) defend against Amir Khan .
Should he lose , if he takes a lot of punishment I could see Thaxton being put in with Khan then .
Anyway , it's a very exciting match up and something I'm looking forward to big time .
