I'm a college student, been training for a few months. Never was planning on going pro or anything but was looking foreward to some amateur bouts. Not anymore.
Friday night I was walking home from a bar, got into a stupid argument with some idiot and his friend cheap-shots me. BOOM. One punch and he fractured the three bones that support the cheekbone. Underwent facial reconstructive surgery yesterday. Incisions through my eyelids and the inside of my mouth. Titanium plates, screws, and wires holding everything together.
I'm not looking for pity. I'm telling my story so hopefully some might learn from it and not make the same mistake I did. Just walk away. It's not worth it. There are always gonna be tough guys talking shit, and chances are you can take them, but on the street there are so many unknowns, so many things you can't account for. Now I'm left here waiting for the swelling to go down so I can find out if I still look somthing like I did a week ago, not to mention not being able to box anymore.
Just walk away.
Thanks for listening.
