number one for me has gotta be floyd mayweather jr. the guy is so arrogant and talks so much shit but then refuses to be the aggressor in almost any fights. it would be awesome to see someone just knock the hell out of him.
next would be wlad klitschko. he seems like a nice guy and all but im tired of the whole "klitschko is the only true champion" argument especially when i think many of the other type guys in the division are being underrated.

Wlad's already got the shit kicked out of him twice, so I think the luster behind seeing him get knocked out has subsided. Floyd's my favorite fighter so I definately don't want to see him get his ass kicked.
Pesonally, I would love to see Hatton get his ass handed to him. He has some nerve insulting the P4P champ on national T.V after beating a washed up version of a guy Floyd beat twice years ago. I hope the fight between he and Floyd happens, and Floyd punishes him for about 9 rounds before his corner is forced to throw in the towel

Hell yeah.HATTON #1 just for general purpose. No particular hate. Just b/c he tried to really shit on Floyd. But you know the Floyd haters would flock to this thread. They pray for the day. I mean they want him to fight the biggest baddest talentless goons in boxing like margarito. And yeah TONY is my #1 just b/c this dickhead actually said out of his own mouth that he is the most feared man in boxing. Then when the ripple effect happend and he was called out by every fighter under the sun. Ouma/Winky/the contender guy under golden boy/Jose Rivera and then goes and fights Williams and they had to battle his ass to take that fight. So I have 2 #1s and so my #2 guy would have to be MORA as well he is a cocky little prick and cant box that good. #3 Cintron again just to see if he would cry again. #4 Wlad..not b/c of Wlad but to shut up the Klit-ites(fans that think he is the best heavyweight of all-time..they havent said it yet but they are getting there) And Rahman.. he is a local fighter here in my backyard and I dont like him or his goons ...I mean they are a bunch of ignant motherfuckers. And b/c Rahman gets knocked out all of the time. But still seems to land a big fight?
Last but not least. Collazo...ONLY b/c he fights at such a slow damned pace and thinks it is cool and he could of easily beat hatton by turning it up one level. I mean the guy does not know the meaning of tempo. I just want to light a fire******* next to his ear..I like collazo though..lol

I see a couple of people have Mora. I'll have to add him to my list. The man is a fringe conteneder at MW and, undeservingly, gets a chance to fight for the MW title. What does this asshole do with this golden opportunity? He throws it away, stating Memphis isn't a big enough venue for Taylor v. Mora. Memphis was big enough for Tyson v. Lewis and Taylor v. Wright, but not for Taylor v. Mora? The man has no credentials, I hope someone beats him into a coma for pulling a stunt like that.

Definetly number one on my list is Calzaghe. He's going to break Hopkins record and he's been fighting nobodies. Beating a hugley overrated Lacy and getting an early stoppage over a blown up reality series fighter who, might i add, didn't even win the show.
Good point. Calzaghe is now on my list. Being from Philly, it makes me sick that this guy might break Nard's record. Calzaghe's record should have an asterik next it. He did it by defending the crap WBO belt in a division that was created in the late 80's so that SRL could call himself a 4 division champ. I hope my boy Kessler wipes that silly look off J.C's face.

Exactly. Noone would even think of him as top 10.
Yeah, except he never did lose, because no matter what anyone threw at him, or for how long, he soaked it up, came back and punished them.
He doesn't have any wins where the other guy clearly got robbed, he doesn't have any disputed victories, no bullshit stoppages.
He trained HARD, EVERY time out, and he fought hard, every time out. He didn't go into a shell if the other guy popped him with a jab all night long, he never gave up, he never doubted his ability to drop any man if he got him with the right shot.
Many, MANY fighters would have lost several of his fights. He just about got shut out against Walcott, but sparked that ass in the 13th round out of nowhere. Most fighters would have given up before that and just gone through the motions the last four-five rounds.
When Ezzard Charles split his nose in half, Rocky turned up the heat and won.
He faced the right challengers and beat every man who was put in front of him. And they all knew it too.
He is a top-10, because there is no blueprint on how to beat Rocky Marciano. All you can say is, "keep jabbing him and keep away from him, and do that every minute of every round." Everyone tried that though, and not one of them got away with it.
Nobody got robbed of a decision against him, and nobody ever even came close to stopping him. He is a top-10 ATG.

Yeah, You can't compare names like Eubank and Lacy to names like De La Hoya and Trinidad. Thats the perfect idea... Heres what the record book should show (because you know Calzaghe will line up one more bum to break the record)
*Joe Calzaghe - 21 Title Defenses
*He only fought bums
Eubank and Lacey were geniune SuperMiddles. DLH and Trinidad were welters coming up. The only time Hopkins faced a genuine live threat he lost eg Jones, Taylor. Plus Hopkins had plenty of chances to fight Calzaghe, but was always making excuses. I agree that Calzaghe's record could do with some better names on it, but for the most part it's been other good fighters reluctance to face him. And when one finally had the bottle to do so(Lacey) look what happened!!

Marciano got his face beat in practically every time he fought- i don't care, he might as well have lost. When you take that much damage you might as well consider it a loss, because your not that great if you get hit that much. Although I have to give him a hats off in the heart department.

Vitali. Even if he gets by McCline, it would be nice to see him sent back into retirement. He is so overrated its not even funny. I would never imagine a fighter could get so much hype in a loss to the champ while the champ wasn't even 100%
Mesi too because ever since his return his fights amount to shit. He is only prolonging a severe KO loss and permanent damage. I'd like to see him starched in one round for his own good.

At least Bernard was capable of KO'ing the guys that were moving up. He knocked both Trinidad and Oscar out. I believe he should've won both of the fights with Jermain Taylor, and Hopkins moved up in weight to beat Tarver which was proving he could beat bigger guys.
Either way Bernard fought a Trinidad with names like Vargas, De La Hoya, Pernell Whitaker, and Hector Camacho on his record. Calzaghe was fighting a Lacy with names like Robin Reid and Rubin Williams on his record.
You can't compare the 2. Hopkins > Calzaghe everyday of the week.
And I don't see what the big deal about Lacy was, I'm glad Calzaghe beat him but Lacy never fought anyone either. Thats why Calzaghe took that fight. He won't even fight Roy Jones... making excuses like "He's been knocked out too many times". Calzaghes fought guy's who have been knocked out twice.... Whats so different with Roy? I smell fear of losing to a real champ whos past his prime but could actually present problems. I don't know whats up with him but he wont have my support until he actually fights someone.
Joe was very keen to fight Roy at one stage, but ****** said Jones was impossible to do business with. Agreed that Lacey's record wasn't that of an all time great , but it was more the MANNER of his victories that made him feared. he literally ran over opponents like a truck!!
Hopkins has had chances to fight Joe but always turned them down. The latest to turn Joe down was Taylor who demanded $10million which is effectively saying 'no thanks'. Hopkins most recently, said he wouldn't fight Joe because he was retired, then promptly unretired, and jumped from Middleweight right to Light Heavy, missing out the SuperMiddleweight division to fight Tarver,TARVER of all people. I can't believe that anyone on here, regardless of allegiance, would rather watch Hopkins/Tarver than Hopkins/Calzaghe

Such as a raceist, anti-semite, homo-phobic, zeno-phobic. or in any way a bigot. I do not include being an asshole in to this equaision.
I also would like my say about Rocky Marciano sense he is being debated in this thred. He went 49-0 and beat the top heaveyweights of his day. It is true that he was not the most fundemental boxer ever, but no one would go 49-0 aganst his compition without being very good. Like a loy of old time heaveyweights I think he would have a bit of truble with more modern heaveyweights who are bigger and faster than anyone he faced. However I would give Marciano a very good chance to beat ANYONE fighting aganst him who weight 200 lbs or less maby as much as 205 lbs

I respect that, good post. By top 10 ATG you meant top 10 HW though correct, and not P4P boxer?
Oh yeah, of course. Just top-10 HW.
And I think he'd do much better than expected against modern heavies as well. I mean, David Tua was blitzing guys and though he's heavier and stronger punch for punch, his height and reach realistically aren't any better.
Tua won a LOT of fights by getting schooled for most of the rounds and then landing one big punch later on, because he kept his power.
I think Marciano would have taken the likes of Shannon Briggs down HARD. I think he can take their punches, and I just think he would have chopped them down. A lot of these guys are basically dead in the water come the 8th round, and I think Rocky would have just flat-out beaten the shit out of them in the late rounds.
Plus I've read quite a few statements from guys who fought him to the effect of, "he was a lot harder to hit than he looked, when you caught him clean it basically didn't seem to have any effect on him at all, every time he hit you, it hurt, and he just kept on coming at you no matter what."
If a guy is in your face ALL THE TIME, and throwing punches, you can't relax in the ring. If you're not relaxed, you tire quicker. And if he eats your best punches and they don't back him off, you get discouraged. Have him do that for 10 rounds in a row, and you're just looking for a way out.
I'm not saying he'd beat Wlad or Lennox or anyone like that. They're probably just too big. But shit, Frazier put prime Ali through HELL, and I rate Rocky to have a better chin and higher workrate than Joe Frazier. Fact is, anyone Marciano fights is going to be in a real hard fight. There is NO evidence that he can be blitzed early, and it's all well and good to say he'd be outboxed over the distance by anyone with a good jab and movement, but hey, easier said then done. After all, Rocky wasn't like Tua, who would stay at the end of the jab and throw a couple of looping power shots twice a round. Rocky is going to be right there throwing punches all night, and the more you run from him, the more tired you get, and the easier it is for him to find you.
Just one man's opinion, but I can't shit-talk Rocky for being small or anything like that, because size isn't everything, and he did everything you can ask of a champion. Always in top shape, always gave his best effort. And in rematches, he won easier.

Marciano never did won a fight hugging the opponent.
Your face cracks me up....:tong
Marciano also never won a fight without looking like hamburger at the end. I think one requirement for an ATG is defensive skills- Marciano's face proves that he had little. You can put him wherever you want on your ATG list, but he doesn't make mine for that reason. Also, 49 fights isn't a whole lot, i mean its a good amount, but it's not nearly enough. You can guarantee that if he'd fought more his whole "undefeated" title would end. You have to figure, alot of fighters better than marciano were undefeated 60, 70, even 80 or more fights into their career before they suffered a loss or two.
In short, as far as ATG goes, I'm not impressed. I actually don't really mind the guy, it's his fans that make me want to see him lose.

:yep
Exactly! if Marciano had at least one, maybe a couple of losses on that record people wouldn't talk so highly of him.
but thats the whole point.he didnt.
how about;'if robinson didnt have so much talent, and achieved less people wouldnt talk so highly of him'.equally true and equally absurd.:-(

Excellent post, Rocky is top 10 for sure.

You're very ignorant on this subject. How does Marciano's face look at the end of this fight?

Or this one?

In fact, Marciano won over half his fights in the first three rounds. He only had a handful of fights in which his face ended up "looking like a hamburger," and even in those fights, the other guy looked even worse by the end. I think you should study his career, instead of watching Rocky Balboa fights and assuming he's Marciano's identical twin and stylistic carbon copy, which is apparently what you've been doing.

Antonio Maragito because he's got some balls to say he's the most avoided fighter in boxing when he's really nothing special at all.
Maybe Vitali but at this point he can use that 3 year layoff as an excuse and It'd be tough to argue against it.
