This is what Lucian Bute has to do to make weight at 168 lbs (76kgs). He has a nutritionist working with him, of course. He will of course lose the weight. But will he not also lose precious muscle mass in losing so much weight so quickly?
Weight he will lose is likely water weight. He will dehydrate the fuck out of himself, and lose some muscle, some fat.

If he loses muscle, that means his planning was wrong.
Ideally, you'd lose no muscle at all, only fat, then water.
Don't think you can shift 13lbs in 8-9 days though...without losing muscle.
Your body goes into catabolism when you don't eat. Basically, your body will start converting the easiest thing it can, that is in excess into energy. Easiest thing to turn into sugar is carbs, next up is protein.
If you plan on losing that sort of weight, and not just a one time quick shed of water weight in a sauna, then put it right back on.. Your body starts eating itself.

He can become rehydrated but he cannot put on the lost muscle mass back within a day, can he?
He will lose muscle mass, right?

In highschool I wrestled at 112 lbs. I had to drop all the way from 140ish. Each week after a tournament i would gain back probably 15 lbs and drop that in the next week. I don't recommend doing anything like this at all lol. I thought it was a good idea at the time, but looking back on it I can tell that it made me a lot weaker and less energetic (obviously). So it's not impossible to lose 10 lbs in a week, or even 1-2 days, but definitely not healthy.

Sauna suit, xtend,and additional BCAA's.

i still think in 8 days you'd lose muscle mass because i dont think bute has that much fat to burn without taking muscle

Note to original poster: This is designed to minimize the amount of muscle lost while maximizing water and fat loss. Having said that, Bute is a fucking idiot for trying to lose that much in a short time and should just move up a class.
