I'm pretty sure that is the case.

Even that is highly doubtful. Uncle Bob won't risk to have either of his cash cows in the div. suffer a certain loss...
Cotto-Margo would be a slam-bang affair.

I actually thought that the Margo-Cotto matchup came directly from Bob's mouth. I think he knows that the biggest money for both of his guys is a showdown.

Won't risk? What the fuck are you saying? Is Zab not a risk? Is Marg not a risk?
This Cotto/Marg fight could have happened earllier if not for Marg's debacle. He should be fighting his mandatory which is going to happen first.

Hopefully. Money talks, and on second thought, letting both fight will line Bob's pocket more, he having monopoly of the promotion. I've been fantasizing on this fight since the time Cotto beat Sosa...
Cotto by close and bloody TKO 12.

Arum paid Urkal step aside money so that Cotto could fight for another paper title. Afterwards, Cotto was contractually obligated to face Urkal as per their earlier agreement.

The WBA has named Klose as his mandatory (and yes, Urkal was a mandatory. Who was the mando for Oscar's WBC belt, or for Floyd's WW WBC Belt? lol.... these organizations are a joke).
Anyways, let's look at this from Arum's perspective. He's been building the Tony-Cotto match-up since Cotto moved up to WW. He will get a bigger piece of the pie for this fight since there will be no co-promoter. But if Margarito loses this Saturday (and given the fight is competitive) wouldn't it be smarter for him to make $ off a Margarito-Williams rematch and have Cotto either face one of his fighters (Clottey) or make a huge Mosley PPV?
If Margarito loses, Arum can still make $ off a rematch... and if he puts Cotto in there w/ Williams it will cost Top Rank $ (the difference between Cotto-Mosley and Cotto-Williams is huge, and Arum won't make much off of Margarito's next fight if he doesn't try to avenge his loss).

From espn.com....
Boxing followers already know that if Antonio Margarito defeats Paul Williams on July 14, he will meet Miguel Cotto in a welterweight unification bout before the new year, most likely in early December. But what does Cotto do if Margarito loses?
"There are a number of interesting fights if that happens," said Arum, who promotes Cotto and Margarito.
The two leading candidates in Arum's mind are titlist Kermit Cintron, who is promoted by Main Events and would need to retain his belt against Walter Matthysse on July 14, and rugged contender Joshua Clottey, who is with Arum.
"I don't mind doing either of those on HBO rather than HBO PPV," Arum said. "But the fight we would like to do is Shane Mosley [on HBO PPV]."
Mosley is a brutally difficult fight to make because of the issues between Top Rank and Golden Boy, although that burden could lighten if the companies settle their differences, which they are working on in mediation.
"The pay-per-view fight on Cotto's horizon would be Margarito in terms of the immediate future," Arum said. "There's also Williams, if he beats Margarito. It would depend on how he looks. If he wins an interesting fight with Margarito, a fight with Cotto would be intriguing."
One fight that he doesn't think will ever happen is one between Cotto and pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather Jr. Arum is one of the few who believes Mayweather will stick to his word and not fight again.
"I don't see him fighting again unless Oscar [De La Hoya] fights him again," said Arum, who promoted Mayweather for virtually all of his career. "Floyd doesn't want to take risks. He doesn't want to get hurt. He doesn't want to fight someone and be lucky to do 200,000 buys [on pay-per-view after doing 2.15 million against De La Hoya]. Cotto and Mosley? Floyd ain't going to take those fights. It's a shame. And Oscar won't fight him again because he doesn't want to be humiliated [losing again]. The next time it would be worse."
Cotto is coming off a stirring 11th-round TKO of Zab Judah on June 9 at New York's Madison Square Garden. Top Rank will no longer officially release its pay-per-view numbers, but Arum said Cotto-Judah did "about 225,000 buys." Arum said he needed about 150,000 to break even.
"Sure I would have liked to do more, but I'm really satisfied because it was great promotion, the Garden was sold out, everyone is talking about the fight and the guy [Cotto] looked sensational," he said.

I hope this Klose guy loses and be removed to his mandatory spot, this will be the worst oponet of Cotto since Gianluca Branco, so poor that i think Branco will beat this Klose guy. I hope other take this spot, damm i prefer cotto to fight the #2 contender Yuriy Nuzhnenko this guy is unknow and unproven but at least is undefeated and he is in his prime, not that Klose guy that is almost 40 and can't ko a fly.

I think if Margo wins.
If Williams wins, whol will Cotto fight next then? Why not take on Williams. If Williams were to beat Margarito, then Cotto was to beat Williams, that would be another highly impressive victory for Miguel.
Maybe taking on Williams is not a big fight for Cotto in terms of financial reward etc. Wonder who it will be if it's not Margarito who boxes Cotto next?
Could we see Hatton vs Cotto sooner than we think?
