Pacquiao vs. the ATGS in "The Ring"

In the most recent The Ring magazine, they did a really great analysis of how Pacman would stack up against the very best 130 pounders of all-time. As a huge Pac fan, i thought it was interesting but it seemed the general consensus was Pacman's constant attacking style would play right into the hands of the slicker atgs. I'm interested what the classic experts here think of Ring's predictions?

I see Arguello taking him out, but not before being troubled (perhaps dropped) early. Arguello's class and straight punching do it eventually, though.

How bout Mayweather at 130 and Camacho?

I wondered the same thing. It looks like they leave out the more contemporary 130 pounders. It seems to be organized chronologically by their featherweight reigns. First was Kid Chocolate (1932-1934) and the last was Nelson (1984-1988) Since Arguello was in the early 80's i guess that's not how they came up with the list. Strange they left him off.

Mayweather could hit decent at 130 and 135, he'd stop Pacquaio after a one sided boxing display. But a guy like Arguello is the type that I'd pick to beat Floyd comfortable, which is why I see him having no trouble with Pac.

i kind of agree with most of this list,but i dont think Nelson wins comfortably,in fact id take Pac over Nelson by a close decision. Although at feather id take Azumah,Nelsons resume was better at 130 but i think 126 was his prime weight. im not so sure if Chocolate beats him either.

What about Chavez? arguably the greatest JL of all time along with Arguello and Mayweather,and i dont remember Olivares ever fighting at JL? This looks more like a 126 list to me. Saldivar too

You need a very good right hand to beat Pacquaio if you don't have 1 you lose, if you have 1 you don't necessarily win, you also need to be pretty quick, and being a good counter puncher with a good defense will help

2. Pacquaio's faster straighter shots land first, he has the reach advantage too, Pac widish UD

3. Pep UD probably by countering and using lateral movement - is it same day weigh in rules, if Pac gets 24/36 hour weigh ins he'll come in the ring at 140lbs and be too big/strong for PEp but on the same day Pep most likely takes it, Pac has a punchers chance though

6. Pac UD maybe late stoppage, too short and too left hand reliant imo

Both are slower without particularly good right hands or countering skills, which I think you need to beat Pacquaio. Armstrong I give a better chance to because he can bob and weave his way inside, maybe make Pac miss and turn it into an inside fight, Saddler is easier to hit and seriously left hook happy, which is a no no against Pac, I'd put serious money on Pac if they fought

Backing pac up is the quickest way to success at this weight imo.I actually thnk Armstrong matches up really well with him, probably the most one sided of all these fights.Can't see pac putting enough leather on him to stop his advance.Hank was a viscious puncher at this weight too.
