So many Calzaghe picks! Making me doubt my decision. Man, if the fight was 5 years ago EVERYONE would pick Hopkins and the only thing thats changed is a win for JC over overrated Lacy and a solid win over a 'too inexperienced to adjust during the fight' Kessler... Hopkins is too rough and too smart for JC... isn't he????!!!! :huh :yep

Don't quote me on this if Hop loses :smoke

I think most of us could be wrong about the big fight this weekend.

I mean most of the time the big black guy beats the smaller white guy.....dont they?

It's an intriguing match up.
Joe's 1st fight out of Europe and moving up to LH to face a natural middle.
If JT can beat Bernard twice, Joe should out punch him easliy imo.

All that aside though, i'll be rooting for Bernard!

By the way what constitues a Wide or Close UD? Have a certain amount of rounds been decided upon? Or just the general consensus?

Diaconu won by CLOSE points also... Johnson by wide points also, as it was 4 points apart on two of the judges scorecards...

Good oqwrk with the bet and that chick mate.

I had Villa in a multi but Man Utd drew:roll:

Also Calzaghe was the las tfight left on a mult ion sports bet, i had about 5 legs from the pavlik fight, wladamir and haye fights, only $2 but got back $15

Also a good week i picked them all:D

But was surpsrided watchong the Adamek fight that he decidied not to come out. Adamek looked good, showed some pop.

Marcus
04-21-2008, 03:12 AM
Yeah mate!! Blackburn holding Man U was a surprize but Man U cant win every game away from home.

Good stuff on turning 2 into 15. Imagine if you bet 200!!!!

I think Liverpool is a good bet, they have won there last 5 games at home, but ill hold my bet off till closer to match day.

I hope Adamak gets him time again at being the main event in USA, but i think he will stay at home untill something big comes up.

Yeah i know mate, not sure how they will perform at Barca this week, ill wait til the day before the game.

Yeah Liverpool have been playing well, way better than before in the season where they were pretty inconsistent.

Yeah the commentary were saying that most likely Cunningham will travel to fight Adamek.

With the $2 bet it was more of a muck around fun bet, by picking a few fights, i thought one would have let it down.

For the $2 bet i had Klitschko, Pavlik, Haye, Z Gorres and Calzaghe, damn looking back at it, the Gorres fight was scratched from the bet as it was a draw and i got $3.79 odds instead of the $7.

On the other old multi i had $5 on Pavlik, Calzaghe, Klitschko and Man utd over spurs in FA Cup, i got $3.50 odds.

cheers thirdgeary, its great your doing it well, compared to my tipping which has gone downhill, ive got an idea for the next tipping comp but all will be revealed in due time....
on another note i thought hopkins won the first 3 rounds then after that maybe won one more in round 10? i thought that it was a gbp promotion he would get the nod, calzage missed alot of punches or slaps however u want to look at it, and hopkins landed the cleaner effective blows he just wasnt active enough....
what about bell? fuk i tipped him just on his fight with mormeck that remains a favourite of mine cant believe he quit on his stool against adamek, i think it just goes to show how good paul briggs was once upon a time....

Damn What an impressive showing by Dirrell, he beats Hanshaw via 5th round referee stoppage.

Dirrell impressed me here, he made up for his performance against Curtis Stevens.

He had a shaky first round, then won each round after. I did not expect that from him. Great job for Andre

Dirrel has a lot of natural talent, and was very highly regarded coming into the Stevens fight. He just fought a very ugly, scared fight for some reason, and naturally everyone jumped off the bandwagon.

Good to see him get another great win.

Yeah i had him to beat Stevens by decision, but did not watch the fight.
And here i picked him to win by decision, but did not expect that performance.

Alvarez Vs Rosendo.

Alvarado scores a 7th rounds stoppage.
It was a good showing by Alvarado he controlled the fight and boxed well early then hurt Rosales in the 6th, then finished Rosales off in the 7th via ref stoppage.
The 4th round was an entertaining round as Rosales did some good work in close while alvarado finally was not keeping his left hand up much in close. Also at the end of the 4rd Rosales did some good work to finish off the round. worked well in the last part of that round

It did not produce the competitiveness that i thought was going to be, but a good fight and very good showing for Alvarendo

Stopped 1.28 into 7th rounds

Yuriorkis Gamboa vs Darling Jimenez - 10 Rounds Super Featherweights. Main Event On HBO BAD.
Alfredo Angulo vs Richard Gutierrez - Vacant WBO Inter-Continental Light Middleweight Title. Match Of The Night On HBO in my opinion.
James Kirkland vs Eromosele Albert - Vacant WBO NABO Light Middleweight Title. Another Match On HBO.
Chris Byrd vs Shaun George - 10 Rounds Light Heavyweights. On ESPN. Byrd Dropping Huge Amount Of Weight.

Joker Match
Cristian Mijares vs Alexander Munoz - WBC & WBA Super Flyweight Titles.

Other exciting matchups over the weekend include:
Aussie Bowie Tupou fighting on the HBO undercard off TV in his hardest match to date with Demetrice King.
Jorge Arce should be too good in a world title eliminator against a little known Thai.
Humberto Soto should be way too strong in another comeback fight, before his fight on HBO on the Pacquiao undercard.
Former World Champ Jhonny Gonzalez will be in action &
WBA Lightweight Title Bout In Japan with Jose Alfaro vs Yusuke Kobori.

Hey all, can I make a suggestion?

As the fight times are different every week, can whoever is doing the weekly matchups also post a due date/time for tipping that is set according to the scheduled time of the FIRST fight for that weeks matchups??

This will encourage last minute tipping and may vary results slightly too.

Just post EST and the rest of us will work it out.

Any suggestions on how i can keep getting tips in if mine don't come in on time??

I thought if he would win, he would lose a split decision o suffer a clsoe points loss there in Germany, but from what i read the height advantage gave Sidorenko some problems, also Anselmo is a training partner of Cordoba and was in Cordoba's corner in the rematch with Sidorenko.

Mate your post yesterday inspired me with JuanMa. I ended up putting a smaller multi bet on. I was unsure of Holt to begin with. I'm really sitting on the fence. Went with -

Boston Celtics to beat LA Lakers in the NBA Finals,
Juan Ma to win
Pavlik to win
Pacquiao to beat Diaz. $5 for $45 collect if it gets up. Not bad odds I thought, it's a carton of beer :)

Mate from memory, $2.60. Not bad in a 2 horse race and I think they have home court advantage too. They don't travel well though.

Yeah its down to like $2.20 now, started at $2.70.

They dont travel that well but they did beat Detroit at home, and they did beat LA in LA this year. It think they are 3-0 against lakers in last 3 games.

Great odds !!

Go Boston!!!!!

BTW, im not betting on this series.

This comp is a good piece of fun.

Mate I might need to read it again but I don't think that's got anything to do with it.

A stoppage is scored the same as KO or TKO.

The higher score is assessed on how close to the correct round you got, whether it be stoppage/TKO/KO..

I think?

I think?so what me and Robot dont get 5 points for picking wide UD instead of Close fight which is what MSTR and Kegsy picked.

So if you Pick a Early KO or TKO u get 5 points more.
But if i pick a Wide and someone else picks a Close and a actual TKO occurs we that thought he would win a bit easier than a close dont get a extra 5 points.

System flawed.LOL

Boppa, you started mid pack meaning i added up everyones totals and divided by the number of participants. So no you didnt start from 0.:deal

The system is slightly flawed, KO's are heavily favoured over decisions however it seems to be going well... so dont rock the boat:yep

If i screw up anyones scores let me know and i'll fix it pronto.

Are the college gmes better to watch?ESPN normally showed at least 2 games a week but really late etc. And then when Bowl season kicks off you get every game.

Well i like watching College its higher scoring with Young Talented Players. Alot more different schemes and Playbooks etc. Trick Plays.
