Good to see someone pick Cruz here, i feel he has a good shot at winning here.
Busy young fighter, was beating Diaz before he got ko'd and fighting an older Cassamayor who hasnt fought in over a year.
Hope Im not too late. - I havent seen any of the scores yet, but if any matches have already happed, then as usual just count the left one. For the ones that havent, here they are. Ive had a very busy week.

Yeah it is sad for santa cruz, esp considering his last tile fight.
The Ring should do the right thing and give him the title, it will be interesting to see what they do.
Lucky i didnt pick Cruz, i felt he would outwork the older cassa

Have you watched him fight? Look at the Barrios fight for reference, he certainly doesn't throw pitter patter punches. He throws them hard, only because he has moved up in weight he is no longer a KO puncher. He still certainly throws hard enough to give Soto something to think about, and Soto is hardly a KO artist himself... Guzman is the more skilled fighter, the quicker fighter, and should be to slick for Soto. The only way I see Soto winning is through work rate, as sometimes Guzman can not punch consistently throughout a round.
Marcus

You would have seen Guzman on the Tszyu vs Mitchell 2 Undercard he fought Joe Morales and wasnt that impressive for me.
If you have the full card of that hidden away in your collection go dig it out it was the fight just before Tszyu vs Mitchell.
Guzman outpointed Joe Morales (WHO) but never looked like putting him away or even dominating he looked lazy.
The Barrios fight was the best he has ever fought but Barrios was old and Soto is young and hungry.
Soto Wins Flawless victory.

Damn I thought a few more people would go for Guzman - its a really a matter of which Guzman turns up. He is very egotistical and he might have a point to prove that he can handle Soto's punching power (which he will not be able to do), if he tries this then he is getting KOed for sure. However, Mayweather is a stern task master and obviously coached his son to stay on the bike and to be strategic. If Guzman boxes he is winning a very wide points victory - my tip is the ego rules the rational approach

Mayweather is a very good technical coach, despite being a total idiot as a person. I have picked Guzman for sure, I have no doubt he can beat Soto, although you are right in saying that Guzman can be inconsistent at times. Still, I think that he will step it up for the big occasion, and I also don't believe that Soto is THAT big a puncher.

Andre Ward was an olympic gold medalist, and is a very good fighter who is trained or was trained by Roy Jones.
Very fast and technically very sound. Some think he is a little bit chinny, but I don't really. Decent power, but he is more of a boxer with a very fast jab then anything.
I haven't seen him recently, but unless he is really sitting down on his punches no then I doubt he will be scoring many KO's against top level opponents.

hey MSTR, do you like ward?
I for one am not really interested in him, i just never really liked his style and all.
Also Alexander Dimentrko(sic) Defeated Hoffman, by 12th rd stoppage.
From what i have been told it was an awesome fight, with both guys getting dropped.
Impressive for Dimentiko to win by stoppage as hoffman had been the distance with many top heavies!
Cant wait to d/l it :D
Also check out the javier castilejio vs Mariano carrera 2nd fight too.
So current results.
Ward 5th rd ref stoppage,
Alexander Dimentreko 12th rd stoppage (hoffman kd 3x)

Seems like Guzman must struggling to make 130 after weighing so high tonight, i doubt he could make as such an impact above 130 due to him having little to no punching power.

Guzman UD 12 (Boring ass fight were Guzman ran alot)
I thought it was a very good fight.
Guzman didnt run, for the first few rounds they traded and they put on a good performance.
Soto throws some good body punches, it was good to see him go straight there from the start of the fight.
Guzman fought well off the ropes and mixed it up with Soto throughout and also showed his slick boxing skills.
Also i picked Guzman to win on points but was going for Soto, but after the fight i am now a fan of both.
IMO Guzman would defeat PAcman.
Did anyone bet on this fight?

Are you insinuating that I am arrogant or something? If you were this perfect mate you would be no better. If anything, its short sighted on your part not to realise this. Arrogance only really fits when the person has an unrealistic view of themselves in comparison to others. In my case, I am simply very aware of my own brilliance.
BTW, anyone who picked Mayorga should give themselves a good uppercut. You do realise that the bout is at SMW, and that Mayorga started his career as a jr welterweight.... That Mayorga has very wide punches and struggles with fighters who sit in the pocket against him... And that Vargas is the superior technical fighter, who judging by appearance is in fantastic shape. What are your reasons for picking him?

Yeah they both are not what they once were.
Yeah if Mayo catches vargas with one of those big overhand rights the fight will be over.
Whereas it is going to take more than one big shot from vargas to put Mayo out.
If it was the Vargas from the Quartey fight, he would wipe the floor with Mayo, but it is not.
Also Imo Mayorga cannot give away any free shots ala, forrest, Trinidad.
With that when i make my picks tomorrow, ill pick Vargas, but will not be surprised if Mayorga wins by ko.

I think that Mayorga relies more on his natural strength and speed then Vargas though, as Vargas is a better technical fighter. As Mayorga is on the decline, a big part of his game will have taken a down fall. Not to mention that his lifestyle (smoking and drinking heavily) will almost certainly have caught up to him.

We need to get some organisation back into the comp i reckon. Its falling away because we have lost track of what week we are in, and whats happening over all. It will become a massive job to do the leader board also if we leave it for 2-3 weeks every time. After this comp we need to see who can commit to doing it on a regular basis. Although I can only post from work which makes things hard, I could do it during a lunch break or something if no one else could do it.

thats true about gambling, you can be tipping everything right but chasing the more money going by method and end up loosing out.... thats why i have said i will stop gambling untill new years (then for new years ill claim its my resolution to stop) like every year since i was 15 lol.......
do you do multi bets on the soccer? because if you know your stuff you can come out good with soccer, i love betting on draws in soccer because thats what youll mostly see i find it boring... but if theres money on the line it becomes very interesting e.g. dog or horse racing.....

15 Points is WAY too much, a lucky guess and you would catapult the entire competition. I wouldn't mind putting 5 points on it or something, that would make it fun, and not having any points for getting the win obviously. SHould make it that no one can use this match as their joker either, as its a pretty bad one IMO. What are your thoughts Kegsy?

10 Points is a bit much for 1 fight IMO. It basically just comes down to luck, and however guesses right will catapult the entire competition. Be interested to hear the thoughts of others. Somehow I doubt the people who are behind me will have any objections.

i reckon stick to the same formula, its not real fair to anyone near the top (i wouldnt really mind since im close enough to last lol) but i still reckon if anyfing like this is going to happen it should be stated at the start of the year.... otherwise making up new things during the comp especially such a swing would be prob the downfall to mstr.... lol which wouldnt be bad ay kegsy?
