Can someone give me a quick help with the rules of tipping?

Like whats the Joker mean??

and if you tip a KO but your fighter only gets a points win, do you still count that as a win?

Is it you pick your fighters by Stoppage or KO.

Picking the winner gets you 1 point, picking the winner AND the methodyou get 5 points.

You get 1 joker and if you pick your winner and method with it you get 10 points.

Dont know if you get extra points for picking only the winner with your joker. Is it 2 points? Or 5? Or none?

Going from memory here and I didnt pay a whole lot of attention to the points system, just picked em and my joker.

And there's something to do with Draws also (which I'm thinking about changing to for Hatton/Castillo)... actually, perhaps it's best left to someone who knows what the fuck they're talking about.

Before anyone does anything crazy it works like this

2 points for picking the winner, double that if you picked the way it happenned (points or KO).

A joker will double the points of a pick, e.g, 2 becomes 4, 4 becomes 8, (if you pick a draw which is 5 points it becomes 10). There's a 5 point bonus for a perfect week, 10 points bonus for a perfect week plus picking all the KO's and decisions. If there's a draw, it screws everybodies week, but you get a consolation point, but obviously that's the reward for taking the risk in picking a draw.

If it's confusing don't worry, atleast it's consistent, just put in your picks (by decision or KO), and one joker each week, and i'll take care of the rest.

I think a pm or an email or something would be better anyway, as it prevents people from seeing what others have picked, as well as eliminating the chance of someone editing after the fight.

If that's the way we're going to do it it'll have to be me, otherwise things'll get too complicated. I suppose whoever does the scoring though will be the only one to make their tip public (in the interests of transparency), Pecks could also handle it, if he ever returns from his indefinite leave :D

Edit test; Mundine has a china chin.

.... looks like the edit function still works.

I dont think we need to go to that trouble... or there is an easier way. Sometimes i'll put my tips in and on the weigh in the day before the fight I'll change my mind and edit. There's also when people forget to put in Jokers etc.

However Dekkers, if you're happy to then there's no probs I guess...

This all being said... can anyone confirm that there is/ins't a way to edit without it being noticed? I've never seen an edit of mine not get displayed.

It's not really any trouble as long as I remember to make room in my inbox :D, we should probably put it to a vote for a week or so, then we'll decide what to do from there.

hahaha... not as much as you would think. I am usually ultra competitive, but in this case as I don't know a lot of the fighters and havne't seen them in action I am not as concerned. Still its good fun, and will hopefully broaden my knowledge on the sport, by researching fighters I wouldn't have otherwise. If I was really serious I would download footage and analyse it, but there is no way in hell I have time or effort for that. That said but, bragging rights on this board is priceless. If i was Robot16 now I would be talking it up worse then Mundine after a title eliminator.

I think all the fights are June 30 (US?) this time, last week we had one on Saturday, we can probably get away with pushing the dealine to midnight Saturday this week. You're right though, we should have that deadline from next week onwards (since we usually have atleast one fight that happens on the Saturday).

Sorry Boppa, but since i'm equal last I have to drag you down with me :D. We had a similar situation last week, but I gave everybody the points since no one actually picked the other guy, bit different this week a few people picked Platov. On the upside you only need to pick 4 fights to get some bonus points.

Im hoping for a better run out this week, had a fucking shocker last time out.if i had to suggest a time or when the comp should go to and end how does this sound to everyone.

i mean its not my comp to run, but if i had to suggest a start and finish.

how about this comp started in mid June. i say we end it in the last week of Dec or the week beore Christmas.

then the next comp starts at Jan and ends in June.
so we run 2 comps a year with each one lasting around 6 months.
which would mean about 24 rounds of each competition.

what does everyone else think does 24 rounds sound fair. so it would be 4 rounds a month for 6 months.

it was the best one i could come with has anyone else got some idea's.

Nah, we already set the comp for 12 weeks, the last two comps went for 20 weeks and they dragged out way to much towards the end. A lot of people drop off, harder for new people to jump in (long wait till the next comp), we're going with 12 weeks (like 12 rounds of boxing) for the moment.

6 months sounds a little long, how about 3 tipping comps that go for 4 months each? all up equal 1 year.
Also maybe if you wanna get tricky after that, you could have it like a battle of the champions and the 3 people that won the comps throughout the year participate in one grand final week to crown a supreme champ.
going under the impression 3 different people win the comps, otherwise the majority winner of the 3 comps automatically gets crowned supreme champ..
or somethin like that maybe
