Nader is a warrior, tougher than Soliman I reckon but like Sam he doesn't have anything that could hurt Choc. SO I can't really tell. I think he would beat Bute but still get outworked by Kessler. He still coasts to much.

Nah he didn't name anyone, said for any challengers to come get him.
Hamdan called Soliman out though and told him to stop ducking him.

Hamdan v Soliman sounds like a real good local fight.
Hamdan was game but shit he took some shots.Mundine looked pretty buggered towards the end.Mundine fights a carbon copy of roy jones jrn.Counters very well and other then rapid 1,2 combos that are very accurate his workrate is low.
I think the mouth can dispose of both Bute and Kess though the viking Warrior may be a tougher hurdle as Mundine would have to go out of his shell and throw atleast 15-20 more punches per round.
I honestly would love to see Mundine at Middleweight.I dont know how he would go making weight but think if achieved he would be a major player against the likes of Taylor,Winky,Pavlik and co.
what a fight!!! Either way that $2.75 was too good an opportunity to let pass :yep

What a load of shit, mundine could have finished him whenever he wanted. He was definately holding back on his punches. Cant believe some of the people on here.

Oh I knew mundine would do that. Thats why i made a reasonably comfortable, low-risk investment ;)
Haven't seen the fight. Time for Mundine to step up, nuff said.

Well, Bute fights a similar calibre opponent on Friday. You'll be able to compare Bute and Mundine then. I would like to hear back from you on this. Thanks!

Soliman already has a win over Hamden. Right now, Choc is taking on Solimans' left overs lol.

praise nader for trying, but simple fact hes not in the same league as choc, however mundine is not willing to step it up, i think he will beat bute, but i think sakio will give him a harder time because of his akwardness, workrate and toughness and before anyone blasts me for saying sakio will be a harder fight then bute im going on the basis styles make fights, mundine at mw would have to throw more punches and step up his workrate, especially against a pavlik or a taylor, simple fact is if mundine wants to step it up he can, but i just dont think he wants to anymore and by the way i dont think mundine is as quick or as sharp as pre green or soliman 2, he looked much better in them fights...
Maybe he's getting old? I'll check out the fight soon.
It's all good talking about world domination and fighting Calzaghe and the like, actually making those fights are a different story. A Calzaghe fight is not going to happen but Taylor, Kessler, Pavlik, Bute are all possibilities.
Entertaining fight, Choc boxed well, coasted a little in rounds 10-11. I don't think he's slowed at all, I just doubt he had an intense training regime in the lead up to this as opposed to the Green and Soliman bouts. Threw more combos than usual tonight also.
the post was not directed at you!
haha lol dont worry - I know you didnt aim that at me :p but thought i'd elaborate on your assessment - which was pretty much my assesment as well and also my prediction (see the mundine by points or ko thread). :good

He doesn't look comfortable in the ring to me, he fires off a couple of shots then jumps back to admire his work, the stop starting makes him tired, the longer Mundines career has gone the stiffer he looks to me.
I think he needs to work harder to throw more punches and more fluidly, he seems to be going more for power since the Green win.

Agreed. Choc looked stiffer and much slower than Ive seen him in previous fights.
But going for the power shots isnt necessarily a bad thing. Now that he knows hes got the power to do damage he seems to be running less.
By the way...Jason Dunstall?
I only watched the coverage from the intros of Choc and Nader, did Briggs say anything about his future tonight?
sorry, i only started at Sols fight.

So Mundine beat him nearly as convinsing as old rusty Larsen... impressive...

Jason Dunstall should never have been talking.
Anyways yeah i had it about 118-110 for Mundine or the like.
Agree with all in regards to him sitting back & just admiring his work at times.

It was a good fight...I had it 117 to 111.
Both guys had a good fight but Mundine is just a few steps ahead on speed, power, skill and evasion.
Hamdens defence was very good...Mundine threw loads of power shots that Hamden took on the gloves....saved him from a KO.
I would like to see Sam VS Hamden.

I was at the fight...
The crowd was pro-Mundine... There was one section of seating where all the Hamdan fans were and though they were few, they were just the loudest...
This turned out to be a really tough fight. Mundine had to fight HARD to win, but clearly one every round (from an 8 rows back perspective).. possibly one or two rounds drawn.
Mundine copped what looked like some really tough shots. Though they were few and far between.
Also gotta be the first time i've seen Mundine tire out this bad at the end of the fight. He was really struggling to breath by rd 11 but showed some real grit - not something we see often from him - and managed to return anything Nader threw at him. Some time, I think rd 7 when the cut occured, Hamden caught Mundine really well and actually had him backed up. Some great work from Hamden showing he's not as past it as some thought... But Mundine came and threw the hardest punches of the night - a real clear and decisive difference between Mundine's 'coasting' and putting everything in to his shot. Would like to see him pull that out more! He could stop a fight with that sort of power...
Hamden smashes Soliman. Any day of the week these days... He's way too strong and his toughness is freakish.
Undercard sucked.... few fights in the crowd early but nothing to write home about...
Not a bad night for a free ticket!
A good fight for Mundine, despite what some might say.

is it safe to say Mundine has some nice whiskers these days?
PorkChopExpress
02-27-2008, 09:32 PM
i'd say people have overreacted in the past and his whiskers have always been okay. Some knockdowns are overblown and the Ottke KO was a solid shot on a tired, inexperienced fighter.
For what is worth and from what i saw last night he took some shots on par with anything he's been hit with before and did double the damage back immediately.

Yeh looking back at the Ottke KO footage, it doesnt appear to be the temple as many suspect, but a solid shot that snapped his neck back and likely cut off blood supply to the brain.

Whiskers depend on age/experience/talent/fitness............. Mundine has all those 4 at the moment....With with Ottke fight he only had TALENT................true or false????
