His performance was no way near as good, as in those nights with Kessler & Green.:deal
Slightly better than the Nievas fight tho.
He fought like shit against Kessler though?

So...on the whole...is Choc gettin better or stagnating/coming to a halt?

Well these mediocre opponents to be honest are stagnating his career.
He has to raise the bar otherwise this shit will just continue.

Am I right in thinking that if he doesn't step up in his next 1-2 fights, he's pretty much a spent force or should be considered as such?

Its just very difficult to judge at this point.
He just sits back at times in some of his recent fights like they are sparring sessions, basically because he knows these guys cant hurt him.
Time will tell & he aint getting any younger too.

I thought Mundine went ok...Hamden just kept fighting all
night long. Mundine in the end wanted a 12 round fight and thats what he got.....a good work out.
Hamden threw lots of punches and got hit with lots of good shots. To Hamdens credit his defence was great and he took lots of heavy punches on the gloves and that saved him from a KO.
Hamden never let Mundine get set because he was always punching back.
I scored the fight 117 to 111.
I think 2 judges had it at 120 to 108.
I think Mundine will take another mid level defence at SMW then he will fight Green next at LHW and then maybe a drop to MW in 2009.
All in all I give Mundine 6/10 for his nights work....he got hit a little 2 often for my thinking and failed in the combos department.

I had a shot...see above.
I could say a few extra things
1. Mundine should stay clear of Kessler
2. Mundine looked good and should beat D & A Green, Bika, Bute, Inkin, Lacy, Andrade ECT
3. Mundine was in a 6 speed and never left 4th.
4. If his managers keep true to form Mundine will become 5 time world champ in 3 divisions without any dangerous fights {like Kess, Joe ECT}.
5. I have drunk loads of beer :good .

How would you see Bute v. Mundine playing out?
It would be a great fight with not much between them each round.
Mundine would keep the fight on the outside and do enough to win on points with his speed and evasion.
Bute will have much more than a fighters/punchers chance and is a great fighter.
It would be a close fight....I just think Mundine will do just enough to win a close fight.
What do you think?
Ashley a 2009 version of Mundine wont make 160 pounds, he's getting on to be going from 168 to 175 then back to 160.
I never saw the fight tonight and wasnt really fussed either.

Mundine said he was 73 kg a few days before the fight without diet....he will have no problem getting down to MW.
Mundines next LARGE fight pay day is against Green at LHW provided Green keeps his title. Mundine wont stay long at LHW.
I think Mundine will go into LHW at about 79kg. If he beats Green he will take 6 months off then MW for 4 or 5 fights...he only needs to shed 7 kgs.

I don't know what Mundine is like these days... His defence was better than Bute's currently is and he was faster, sure...but otherwise, Bute seemed better for me in many important respects - footwork/movement, power/strength, strategy implementation and ring-intelligence, mentality and will-to-win. Again, not sue what Choc is like these days...I cannot find a link for any of his current fights...

I know Mundine talks loads of shit but he has his sights set on 3 division world champ......He has the SMW, he could get Greens LHW and he would be a big MW but this would be the hard title to get as he needs to earn it at MW and that could take 5 to 10 fights.

Mundines problem is that he thinks he can set cruse control on through the big fights and still win....big mistake.
His work rate is also down. Speed is good in the jab and he has good power in the right. Body shots are also good and he has great exasion and good defence.
Bute VS Mundine is a fight we all want to see.

Since Choc has started in every single fight he has had u could see he had improved from his last fight . Taking into account his last two fights against Nievas & Clavero and last nights fight against Hamdan I dont think he improved at all .
His evasive skills dont look anywhere near as good and last night he looked a little timid at times when hamdan went to the body .
This is obviously due to the eye ( contradicting stories as to how bad it was )
Mundine is very hard to beat when he is on the run . It may not look good but it is effective . When he jabs , comes forward lands a right hand and gets out ,
Last night he was very hittable at times but in saying that hamdan is a big step up from nievas and clavero . Against the likes of the much improved light heavy Danny Green , Kessler or Calzaghe ...it could prove his undoing .
For mine next fight has to be a big name . Choc will need to look to US and not cheap pay days in Oz .
Id be looking at a bigname such as Kessler or Lacy ilk .
Green aint interested as he has bigger fish to fry now .
If anything Mundine could look at building some respect in the states by taking on maybe Bika , Manfredo , Lacy
He wont get Calzaghe or Jermaine Taylor as he hopes .
Overall i would give Choc a 6/10

Mundine wont enter International boxing at his leisure, It most likely be that 160-168 fighters will hunt him down and draw him there, as he is a paper Tiger and paper Champion. Who is the No.1 contender for the title should he keep it if Calzaghe stays at 175?
Ok, Finally I've seen this fight. Was suprisingly entertaining and competitive, despite the wide scorecards.
Mundine did what he had to do and edged out just about every round. What I didn't like was that he was loading up way too much on his punches, but I take into account that he was fighting accordingly to the opposition put in front of him. And Hamdan is not a big puncher, so he was agressive and threw a lot of power punches. I think if he just used his speed and timing, he would have been much more effective. He's definitely gone backwards in his last couple of fights though, which is probably a 1st in his career. A worrying sign I suppose as he's no spring chicken anymore.

Only needs to shed 7kgs muscle from a body that probably doesnt have anymore then 10%bodyfat max......That aint as easy.
Mundine will not fight at middleweight. All the bigtime middles(hopkins, winky and now pavlik)are either gone up a division or 2 or are thinking about it.
The cash is at suppermiddle/lightheavy these days.Alot of quality fighters floating around those weight classes.
If Mundine were to follow your plan he would end up completely fucking himself physically and mentally resulting in either severe injury or a bad perfomance in a big fight.
I just cant see him going from sm to LH then all the way down to middleweight.I know Mundine and his management aint the brightest sparks but i assure you they aint that dumb.

If i were Mundines Manager i would be seeking only two fighters.
Sakio Bika or Jeff Lacy.Which ever one is available for a bout in say 3mnths.
With the bout in America ofcourse. The risk/reward ratio would be great for mundine.Americans would assume Mundine as a underdog(true fightfans would know the truth) and once Mundine schooled either of these blokes to a wide ud decision he would of opened up more oppurtunities through this one bout then then all of his bouts of the past(except maybe kessler bout).
The U.S. would be his pork and he can choose howmuch he wants to eat.
He has to do it.Im making a call now.If mundine fights GREEN,SOLIMAN or another low tier fighter next im never making a comment about the bloke ever again. He will no longer exist to me.
Doesnt he need to face Braehmer as the mandatory soon???

THe thing is a fight with Green or Sam is unavoidable due to the rematch clauses. Only if Sam or Danny dont pursue it will it not happen. And since a fight with choc is a massive pay day, neither fighter will give up a chance for a rematch.
Sad, but true....
