Did you see those highlights & how you could see his improvement? And what aggression, thats what impressed me the most...I hope Wlad was watching, cause that dude Mesi would be in his face.

You just said it. He has been fighting nobodies and as soon as he steps up in competition, like lets say Sinail Sam in this instance, he is going to be in for a very hard fight.
its easy to look good fighting cannon fod fighters that you are supposed to beat and who know they are in their to lose

While I think calling Mesi "the modern day Marciano" is going way overboard, I agree that he is a genuine quality fighter when at his best and a legitimate threat to most of the top guys in the division.

At this rate, he will probably surpass Marciano's undefeated record by fighting "Palukas".

Mesi Has To Fight Someone Before Getting A Title Shot, He Is A Good Hvywt But Has Not Fought Anyone Since His Comeback And Health Problems, I Was Very Impressed With His Destruction Of Robert Daniels And Tos Davarell Williamson. Mesi is undefeated, American, articulate, self promoting, good looking and ....ahem...white.
Here is a scenario: He fights Terry Smith in April. With a victory he can fight twice more in 2008 versus someone like Rahman and maybe an Ibragimov and earn a title shot in 2009. Mesi beats both. (As he said on ESPN2 last night styles make fights.)
The stage is set. Just three fights and he fights for a title.

If it was made a few years ago, it wouldn't have been silly. Mesi was a great boxer imo. He has a nice fan exciting style, and a great fan base[im from Buffalo so i know]. But I don't think he should be fighting anymore.

It would be racist is he was against non-white fighters, but he's not. His Pavlik obsession is extremely annoying though and I can't wait until he finds out how average Pavlik is.

Pavlik is one of the most exciting boxers in the game. He's also prooven to be a fan of polish fighters too. I presume he has SOME Polish in him.
Or, I remember I think he told me his wife was Polish or somthing, which brings him into the Polish boxing fan-base.
But if he is however racist, which I doubt, he doesn't express it. And you cannot ban him for that.

For the record, Joe Mesi has fought 7 times since the Jirov fight.
Check out the current records of his opponents.
4 of them with losing records against mostly inferior fighters.
1 of them on a 4 fight losing streak.
2 of them with winning records over poor club fighters.
His last opponent --- Shannon Miller was 15-3. of those 15 wins, 13 of them with losing records (some with no wins at all).
It is an absolute disgrace to think that Joe Mesi is deserving of a title shot.
To even move up in the ratings, you would think that he would have to atleast defeat a fighter that is ranked higher.
Mesi is currently ranked #53 by Boxing Records which is probably too high based on the calibre of his recent opponents.
You fight Tomato Cans --- you become one.
The thought of him getting a title shot without paying his dues is absolutely disgusting.

He was fighting ranked guys, guys being picked on this very site to beat him--Williamson, Barrett, Jirov. Then asshole-supremo Teddy Atlas leaked a medical story on the guy (which Atlas would have never done if a Lou Duva or another Atlas buddy was manager) and since then he has been fighting stiffs.
