Watching the fight last week, it struck me that Mundine has a following that borders on Ricky Hatton-esque levels of Ineptitude. In fact thats a little unfair on Hatton's fans as there are a number of knowledgable fans who follow him.

I truly would like to know if Mundine's followers are representive of Australian boxing fans?

I think its more a case of people supporting whoever Mundine is fighting. Most people watch his fights in the hope they will see him get KOed. He is not well liked in Australia due to his big mouth.

Well on here you have myself, Pecks, MSTR, Hmmm, Pork Chop, Ozziebattler etc etc etc who are all fairly unbiased and level headed posters who admire his ability rather than his personality. Does this answer your question or are you looking more for the dirt?

You seem to be in a minority of vaguely inteligent fans, because most crowds he gets are made up of people who want to be extras in Underbelly.

Almost all boxing crowds are full of blood thirsty mobsters. I think Mundines fans are quite timid eg. you had Steve Waugh there the other night in a Flannel shirt and his hands on his knees :D

Im a huge fan of Mundine's boxing ability and money making ability...not a fan of his selection of opponents.

As a boxing fan and an Aussie, I have personally enjoyed following Mundine's career, I also understand how his personality is disliked by many, especially non-boxing fans.

I couldn't really give a shit if Mundine's a wanker, alot of boxers are! I enjoy watching his development purely as a fighter and although I wouldn't hang around with the bloke, I can appreciate his boxing talents

I agree. He is a talented fighter and is one of the best super middleweights around, but his refusal to actually fight anyone of note is what annoys me most.

Aussies have a great talent in Mundine and also that other young fellow who looks like him in a lower weight class. That young kid is something special.

I'm not sure if Mundines real skills are boxing or self-promotion.

Mundine has wasted his skills and his chance at the big time, he is old and done. Yes he will beat most of the best aussies in his class, but i think his chance has slipped away.

And im no fan of his, he is a stupid trouble maker and far from a role model.

The only mate of mine who is a Mundine fan is a big fan of the underdog in any event.

He always goes for the less popular team/opponent, or one with the least chance, mainly because he always hopes to get a big win at the TAB and also to create sides so he can argue with the rest of us - he loves an argument, so he does.

I know in the first 15 to 20 fights Mundine had 90% of people showing up to see him get KO'ed.....at least in Queensland pubs and clubs.

Funny but after his beating by Kessler I think Mundine got more fans....maybe 30% extra.

Now he is pissing everybody off by fighting top 80 to 100's instead of top 4 to 15.

Now 90% of people want to see him get KTFO again.

I just want him to fight real top 15 fighters.

Thats exactly all we ask.
Fight legitimate contenders, not these Argentine bums or guys 6 years past their best.

It maybe a bit much to ask for however I
would love to se Mundine VS Sartison....this guy is ranked high but Mundine will win.

However I think we will be lucky to see any of the following

Mundine VS Sanavia, Larsen, Andrade, Bozic....I wish.

It will be interesting to see who he has lined up next. Maybe the WBA will force the mandatory? A Kessler fight is the only reasonable rematch he should consider at this stage. We know he's at the top of the crop as far as Aussie fighters are concerned, but I agree his chances on the world stage are slipping faster now that he's 32 and a couple of bad injuries in the past year.
